  1. I'm thinking, and bear with me because this idea is going to sound just crazy, that people are looking for something to be angry about, and will shoehorn anything they can into a moralistic outrage. It's like i've told my kids, if you're looking for a reason to be angry, anything will do. Fromm will have to learn from this, starting with never trusting anybody again and making sure to stay on the right side of the thought police at all times. That's how we end up with boring as all hell athletes because before the gotcha society they used to actually tell us what they thought in interviews. Like I said earlier in the thread, every single NFL player who made some negative comment about Fromm, especially Lawson and Tre, I want to see their xbox live audio transcripts. I'm going to go on and bet real American dollars that there's all manor of homophobia and misogyny in there. Hypocrites that live by the sword will meet their just end eventually when whatever it is that they don't think is a big deal becomes a hate crime. And there's a lot of people who consider homophobia & misogyny to be every bit as bad as racism, even if people aren't rioting in the streets about it. related to silencers, here's a quick explainer: https://www.todayifoundout.com/index.php/2010/11/gun-silencers-dont-make-them-anywhere-near-silent/
  2. I'll say this. I've looked into getting a silencer because although i live in the middle of nowhere, and I have literally hundreds of acres behind me with a very safe 300' hill to shoot into, i know the sound can be heard by my neighbors. Nobody has ever complained, and in fact I've had them over to shoot. Even with that, i'd still rather they didn't have to hear it at all. Alas, living here in the Idiot Kingdom of Prince Andrew's New York, it's 100% a non-starter. For the states where the 2A still applies, there's a mile long list you have to go through, and spend a fair amount of money, and wade your way through the Federal BATF. It's a huge PITA. I think a big reason for that is that non-gun people tend to think of silencers like they are portrayed in Hollywood where you can shoot high caliber pistols and hear nothing more than a whisper. What they actually do is reduce the noise level by ~25 decibels. It's really not that much, maybe 20-30% of the total volume depending on a few variables, but does take the sharp edge off the report, to where a couple thousand feet away it'll be a soft snap instead of a hard crack The reason I say all this is because although you don't have to be an 'elite' person, white or otherwise, you certainly have to have the time, money, patience, and societal wherewithal to grind through the process. I can accept the substitution of the word 'elite' for all that because most 20 year olds don't have any of those things in sufficient quantity to actually follow through on this sort of thing. Should have have said 'elite white'? no, in retrospect I'm sure he would agree it was a poor choice of words. Is it an accurate assessment of who can actually procure silencers today? Yes, pretty much, if only somewhat exaggerated. I'd say that's the larger problem than some dumb 20 year old sharing his thoughts with some young woman looking for her 15 minutes of fame. Mr Fromm is going to have to grow up real fast and learn not to trust anyone around him. I hope that anyone else around this young woman realizes that she will absolutely betray their trust if she thinks she can gain some slight advantage to herself. As far as personal failings, I'd put that much higher than what Fromm said, but society isn't convulsing over personal morality right now, but rather over performative absolution for sins of others rather than keeping our own houses in order. Anyway, off my soapbox now, try the veal and so on
  3. Offense is the coin of the realm today. You need to get more offended, or be left behind
  4. OK what if we have an xbox live recording of Tre calling someone a homophobic slur? can we cancel him then?
  5. That's rich coming from an aspiring member of the twitter lynch mob
  6. So you're fine with misogyny but not racism? What about transphobia? I'd be willing to bet there's a whole buncha skeletons in a whole buncha NFL closets. Time to sweep clean!
  7. I expect the Bills did some due dilligence, which for obvious reasons wouldn't include the contents of private text conversations. If there's record of other 'racist' conversations, i'm sure our brave twitter warriors will come up with it. Then everyone can celebrate ruining a man's career because of this horrible crime
  8. yeah log into a public game and all you'll hear is the N word. I think they've changed some of that recently, but i stopped for the same reason, that and I'm terrible at it If it's a pattern of behavior where's the rest of the instances of that happening? I mean besides the obvious fake from England. If this guy is some kind of Boss Hogg style racist there should be plenty of evidence of such, and not just a single screengrab from a private conversation.
  9. This is a great point. I want the audio logs from xbox live and the playstation network for every single NFL player. If there's any racism or misogyny, transphobia, or any other kind of bigotry, they must immediately be cut from the NFL, and banished from society
  10. I don't even care about him as a player at this point, just tired of the pitchfork crowd coming out at every provocation. I've told my kids (16+20) to stay the f off social media because what's acceptable today will be a hate crime tomorrow and as a society we've lost the ability to consider context or the gravity of a situation but instead focus like a laser on being able to 'gotcha' people. It's like the virtual French Revolution. Of course the average twitter user doesn't know anything about history so they don't know what happened to the initiators of that particular event, or for that matter the vanguard of every revolution.
  11. So you better be prepared to cut a bunch of other people too. Let's create a twitter army and go through every tweet by every player and any sign that they ever engaged in any kind of wrongthink, they must be cut immediately. Maybe send them to jail too because we can never be too pure as a people.
  12. Yeah so now we also have to get rid of Allen. I mean what he said was 10x worse. Fromm stated an existing reality, which is only elite white people can get silencers. I mean anyone can but not too many have the money and patience, not to mention ability to wade through the considerable process and paperwork to get a silencer. I'd love to get one myself so I dont bother the neighbors when I shoot, but there's no way i'm going through all that. Letting the crybullies run things is going to suck. Let's have a society where we're constantly tattling on each other and the punishment for wrongthink is the gulag. What could possibly go wrong?
  13. No, you see, because a rookie didn't play like a vet all pro, we have to get rid of him because having nobody is better than having a guy that played solid C+ ball and has lots of room to grow. In fact, we should trade him and next year's 1st round pick to somebody for a journeyman WR just to seal the deal
  14. I really don't get the Ford hate. You guys would have gotten rid of House Ballard after his rookie year too I expect
  15. If anyone can pull any of that off it would be Beane, but Foster & McKenzie in particular are legends in Buffalo only. There's a hundred guys like them bagging groceries
  16. Tua is sure to be a terror to the AFCE sitting on IR. That dude takes 1 hit from an NFL DE and his hip will snap like a dry twig. I say that as a huge Alabama fan too. Maybe Orlovsky thinks that Tua is so talented that even from the bench he'll make Miami better. It's an aspirational take, but probably not going to survive contact with reality
  17. With advanced video analytics platforms you can decide exactly what threshold you want for penalties. things like holding, neutral zone infractions, etc, you could dial it in and end up with the same amount of penalties as today, but rather than some significant fraction of them being BS, each would be a clear cut violation of the rules. I work in this space and I'm telling you, it's gotten really good, and is getting better every day. There's plenty of existing footage to 'train' the systems with, and we know what a good call is versus a bad call. edit: defensive pass interference would be a perfect example of what could be made right with AI and Video Analytics
  18. It's a great idea. and with advances in video analytics, we're 1 step away from being able to go full blast AI for officiating. 8k cameras from multiple angles plus some computing power, you could in realtime build a 3d model of every single play and examine it from every possible angle. The officiating in the NFL has been so terrible for so long, and with major outcome effecting mistakes in playoff games, the NFL really needs to fix this
  19. hachi machi that's a lotta dough for Dak. And I like him, i'm just not sure how they field a competitive team with all the silly contracts they're handing out
  20. That was the first game that 10 year old Dorquemada took intense interest in, i still remember Fergy on that wrecked ankle gutting it out. That dude was tough as nails but even then I was wincing watching him every time he dropped back. Anyway, Rest In Peace Ben Williams. He was a consummate pro, and by all account a good person too
  21. The defense introduces one Rex Ryan into evidence
  22. The only way to get this 2 decade old albatross from around our necks is for the Bills to beat the Pats. And not just squeak by in the last minute, but a start to finish physical domination and win by 3+ scores
  23. Because they serve a pretty big market, have been good for a really long time, and are a team that people either hate, or perhaps if there is something wrong with their brains, love. In either case the strong feelings will draw viewership. if they suck, we wont see 5 primetime games next year. If they are good, it'll be a super hyped storyline having said all that, the Bills need to take care of business, beat the Pats twice, and run away with the division and stop worrying about the media
  24. You know i'm not sure you got your money's worth out of your UB degree
  25. He'll have a couple good games early in the season then fade over the stretch, but still a good signing for them I think.
