  1. To me he was a wild card. He could blow up a play and manhandle anyone in front of him, or he could disappear for long stretches. Given how solid the rest of the D was, on the balance he was a positive contributor though, and had to be accounted for. There isn't really anyone on the DL now that commands that much respect. I'm a fan of Oliver but without some more beef and strength around him, he's not going to be able to make the sort of impact we need.
  2. tbf if someone offered me that money to move to the warmth, i'd take it. hell, i'd do it for half that
  3. calling your shot with Paul O'Neill would have been awesome too with extra points for Seinfeld reference Having said that, I feel like in the end, bumming out Collinsworth is even more valuable than getting O'Neill's autograph
  4. You're the expert, apparently, but that is what he tells people
  5. SDS - I'm like you, i periodically check in on this. I live a little way west of Albany so not exactly drowning in sunlight. Here's my hot take The companies promising 'free' solar in exchange for a discount are pretty lame unless your power bill is so staggering that getting 20% off is going to change your life. We have pretty high electric bills, usually around $250-$300 a month. At 20% savings, basically i'm looking at saving $60 a month. For that I get the bottom 10% of last year's HS graduating class clamoring around on my roof driving screws into it If you're looking at buying the cells outright, the ROI looks different, though for us we got estimates from $22,000 to $30,000 to generate enough juice to make a meaningful contribution. That's just the cells. You can almost double that if you want sufficient battery capacity. Batteries have gotten cheaper but still not 'cheap'. This is really the route i wanted to go to be able to be self sufficient during outages, and generally not draw much from the grid. The other advantage of this approach is you can sell power to the grid when you're producing. It's still gonna be a real long ROI, 10-20 years, assuming you don't have to replace the batteries, which you will One of my neighbors put in a closed loop geotherm system, and outright bought some solar cells & battery that produce enough juice to keep the pumps running. He gets his heating, cooling, and hot water for 'free'
  6. For real. Pete Carroll is the smartest brain genius coach in the history of the NFL and if you don't believe it just ask him, and a real class act too
  7. I think that's hilarious. Nothing pops a celebrity's bubble like confusing them for someone else. "Are you sure you're not Paul Oneill?"
  8. I think there's something to this line of thought. Give your QB time to throw and keep him on his feet and he'll find someone open. Keep him running for his life and it doesn't matter how many skill players he has around him.

  10. I don’t know anything about this guy but the highlight reel looks like what we hoped we were getting in Epenesa.
  11. thats why they win a lot of games
  12. who needs the best receiver in the NFL when we could have a guy that PFF says is a good OL. yikes we'll be in 7-9 hell forever
  13. Im thinking more that punk from Auburn or reprobate from Temple
  14. What's Conrad Dobler up to these days? He punched Mean Joe Green. I doubt any of the current Bills would do that. Huh he's 70 years old. Maybe only as a backup then
  15. Yeah i think he's a great fit here and has shown flexibility in where he can play on the OL. There's some value in that, and i have faith that Beane will get this done and prevent a roster hole that just needs to be filled
  16. God help us. Put in the right system, i expect Jones will be a very good QB in the NFL
  17. He's not a track meet guy but has good game speed plus is as good as anyone in the last few years at breaking tackles or just running through people. His running style is somewhere between Derrick Henry and Thurman Thomas. I'm not saying he'll ever be as good as them, but he combines some of Thomas' vision and shiftiness with DH's brute strength and ability to carry 3x his own weight 10 yards downfield
  18. I'm a huge Bama fan (also went to grad school there! '92 team ftw!) so consider that in context of me being a fanboy. Having said that, I think because of the near-NFL scale roster, and probably the best college coach of all time, Bama players tend to get over-drafted. I'd take ANY of the players listed above, but several of them wont even be available at pick 30, much less in latter rounds. I would like to see Najee in a Bills uni though, we need a RB like we were told Moss was going to be, someone we can grind in the 2nd half and pick up clock moving 1st downs
  19. Too expensive.
  20. Our D just seemed physically weak, especially the DL, but Edmunds and Tre too. In that sense we did miss those guys up front. Finesse football can get you a long way but the watching the game last night (and the KC/Tenn games earlier this year) you just got a sense by the 2nd quarter that the Bills were getting manhandled and didn't have an answer. It's what i was worried about against Baltimore, but the D played a fantastic game, but even with that had to scheme around being the less physical team. I'm not sure what the cure is here as we're not going to replace enough guys on D to change their nature but maybe move some guys around? Who knows
  21. Saban putting together quite a rogue's gallery. Wonder if he'll make a play to get Joey Freshwater back while he's at it
  22. agree with your conclusion. GEt a RB and the O will be fine. D might require more work, and a better scheme. "Only give up 10 yards a play" isn't a great strategy, especially when you can't even do that
  23. Sure, in retrospect. In April i think most of us thought that Motor was gonna be the guy and spending another high draft pick on a RB would have verged on malpractice. I dont want to pile on Epenessa quite yet, but i'm not sure we need a guy who specializes in chasing QBs across the field but never quite gets there. I feel like we have several of those guys already. Maybe we can use him to chase Allen around in practice until Josh learns to throw the ball before a 25 yard sack
