That's fair. If anything, MA has a lot more evidence for a lawsuit against SDSU and the SDPD, discovery would be fascinating. A college football player having sex with a woman isn't illegal, dare i say there wouldn't be very many players in the NFL if it was. The fact that this woman absolutely tried to get rich by lying should cost her something but I guess that just not how things work.
-
A tiny, tiny fraction of what was said in the wake of the MA false accusation. Or are you claiming there was the same level of outrage but the Bills didnt react because of what, exactly? Too much money tied up in the player? That's not really a good look either. You know it was a legal decision? You have some insider info you want to share?
-
You don't agree that the Bills would do the same thing again in the same situation? So if someone comes out and says that Joe Andressen or however he spells it was involved in a gang rape in college, the Bills will take a measured approach this time, adn wait for actual evidence beyond an accusation? Or they'll cut him the next day? If it's the former, it's tacit acknowledgement that they caved to the mob with zero evidence of wrongdoing on MA's part. If it's the latter, it's a solid sign that they've learned nothing and every player is a baseless accusation away from being cut.
-
My point is that it was a reaction to the mob. The mob was mysteriously muted when the accusations against Von Miller came out. The double standard is "can we score cheap points by doing something that costs us nothing?" versus "damn we might actually need that guy later, let's sweep this under the rug"

I doubt the Bills offered a return to the team, but to your point, if the reigning SB champs call, you're going to chose them in any case. Plus, KC is obviously more interested in SB rings than they are virtue signaling or they'd have gotten rid of Butker when the usual suspects had a moral panic about him earlier this year
-
Which is why they shouldn't have just reacted to the mob demanding they cut ties. They have now created an expectation that a sufficiently serious accusation requires an immediate response that all ties with a player get cut. Hard to see how this could possibly go wrong.

Mahomes wouldn't be the same QB with the Bills coaching staff. Not that it matters, for a while we were able to say oh hey look we got Allen AND White, but lol
-
He knew he had nothing to do with it. It's perfect encapsulation about the way a lot of people think these days that he should put himself through a maoist style struggle session based on a lie told by someone with zero basis in fact.

He concealed WHAT? The DA never pressed charges. The woman and her attorney didn't even file a suit. The Bills cut him the day after the (false) accusation became public. So I'll ask again, what did Araiza conceal?
-
Ah yes but he has an unbreakable contract and was a good DE at one point so he can beat all the women he likes. At this point who cares, the Bills did what they did but pretending it was some sort of high moral ground positioning rather than cynical calculus is just BS
-
Entirely forthcoming about what? Something he didn't do? What should he have told them "As a college student I attended a party where a woman didn't get gang raped"? I'd expect most players they draft could say the same thing.
-
What pray tell should he have revealed about the incident? "I didn't do something but I'm going to get accused of it"? It's ok to admit that Bills management got caught up in the general hysteria of the moment and thought they could curry favor by being decisive. One thing I've observed in this era is that the people who scream the loudest about this sort of thing are always on to the next grievance and aren't going to become consumers of your product. Many such cases.

Right, he was accused of something terrible. Is that the standard we use now here? It would seem that the accusations against Von Miller were pretty bad too! In fact Betty Parris, Abigail Williams, Ann Putnam, and Elizabeth Hubbard made some dramatic accusations one time and 19 people ended up swinging on the end of a rope for it, but i guess we should just believe any accusation that's made lest we offend someone with our ridiculous notions of justice and due process!
-
Oh, so, 'guilty due to the severity of the charge'? Is that the standard? So if some person accuses Josh Allen of something terrible, we should cut ties as soon as possible to protect the brand? The worst part about all this is that the people who ended up being 100% right at the time got shouted down here like they themselves were criminals.
-
The whole episode absolutely sucked but letting the mob make the decision in the media rather than seeing it play through was very much a cowardly move, or at least a cynically calculated move that ended up backfiring on us.
-
Not sure Araiza would even want to come back to the Bills after they surrendered to the mob and threw him under the bus. I know I wouldn't! To address the rest of the post, given the vast talent gradient between coaching staffs, i'm not sure a few players make any difference one way or another.

Let's see what Davis can do with the 1st string for the rest of preseason. I think people will be surprised

Good to see the Bills hopping on a trend that had lost a bunch of steam over the last couple years. I sure hope this was a big focus
