  1. Conrad Dobler... was amusing to 10 year old me, but thinking now about penalties at bad times gives me heart burn
  2. Probably better off looking at Schalmont High School near Albany if you want potential NFL material than at SUNY Albany.
  3. Yes we are fine with it. Lose no more sleep over this.
  4. what's Clay set to make this year on the 'phins? What does he make this year if they rescind the tranny tag?
  5. Sorry if this was brought up before, but couldn't the Dolphins be really screwed if NOBODY makes an offer to Clay? It's a gamble for them as much as us, they'd be in cap hell THIS season probably have to start cutting left and right
  6. I think this is right. No way can they overpay hughes and retain the rest of the talent going forward. His value does not exceed the cap flexibility he would cost. If he goes to a team with an average D, he'll look average, like in Indy. He wont go to a team with a great D, because that team will already have significant investment in DE. All that said, if I were him I would absolutely go to the place offering me the most guaranteed money, he would be stupid and irresponsible to do otherwise.
  7. Also, he's 21. Remember when you could go out, drink a case of beer, and get up for work the next day at 7a feeling like a million bucks? It's like that, but with exercise
  8. He went from a highly functional and disciplined program at Alabama to the tard yard in Buffalo. A seasoned vet can overcome that sort of transition but a young man might slip into bad habits.
  9. I'm saying 1 big splash (Iaputi or Revis) and a few mid tier guys, and resign Hughes
  10. Yup. EJ could not have been more professional about the whole thing, and by all accounts continued to work hard in practice and improve. This doesn't make sense. If we were in training camp and EJ was getting out played by McCown, Tuel, and QB#4 to be named, I'd get it, but there is nothing to gain by doing it now, and any 12th dimensional chess to try to explain it is stupid.
  11. To what end though? Why cut EJ? At worst, he's a solid backup, and his contract isn't anything to worry over from a salary cap perspective. I'm certainly not doubting Leroi (pbuh) but it doesn't make sense.
  12. That video gave me sad eyes and ears besides that, he didnt look half bad. I get that it's a highlight film but that throw into the corner of the endzone was sweet, and it looks like he can move behind the line. Look, if he's Kyle Orton +10%, we win another game or maybe 2 and we're easily in the playoffs, assuming EJ doesn't step up. Regardless, I'd rather have McCown as a capable veteran backup.
  13. This is exactly correct. The team needs balance, but it cant just be mediocrity throughout. There have to be some stars. Hughes is either an emergent star, or a product of the system, but either way he produces.
  14. True though I think that Schefter is losing credibility. In his position, that's all he's got to trade in. With that gone, he'll be correctly recognized as a paid shill, and nothing else
  15. Bama homer here, agree with this take. He doesnt have the metrics of some other guys, but finds a way, is resourceful, and I don't think we've seen the best of him yet. If he's there in the 4th or 5th, I'd take a chance on him
  16. __________________ Yup. Fix is in, there's no way that there's any impact here, some low level schlub gets a payday, and excommunicated from the league
  17. Yes, I'd take Lane Kiffin with him, if he were dumb enough to leave that sweet gig. Imagine what he would do with CJ and Sammy.
  18. I'm a huge bama fan, wife and I met there at grad school, so I'll admit to being a homer here, but you are right in that he may need some time to ramp up. On the other hand, if you look how he's progressed this year, it's been nothing short of amazing. This Alabama team is lacking in talent on O, outside of Amari Cooper, relative to other recent teams, yet they're blowing up the record books. Part of it is coaching, but I think Sims might be the real deal. You can't teach accuracy and timing!
  19. Blake Sims, Alabama Crimson Tide. In his first year of starting, he went from wobbly run first guy to seasoned pocket passer. He doesn't have the metrics of some of the others in the draft and I bet the Bills could pick him up in the 3rd. I think he has a lot of upside, and is still learning the position, but he's a winner and makes plays happen.
  20. Yup, we beat OAK and steal one of the other 3. The key in the offseason is to shore up the OL, get Kiko back, and maybe just maybe keep Hughes. I am also hoping that EJ can make enough progress to have a legit competition in training camp next year. I wanted to like Orton but yesterday was pretty much what we're going to get with him
  21. That means 28 attempts over 20 yards for EJ. Did he really do that?
  22. Honestly, his running style reminds me of FredEx. I love the stiffarms!
  23. Like last year, they played soft on 3rd down. I'd whine about the refs, but when you get thumped as bad as the bills did today, it doesnt matter. Penalties kept a couple drives alive, but most of the time the Bills simply couldnt stop Brady. At least this should probably end our annual circlejerk that THIS IS THE YEAR WE TURN THE CORNER ON THE PATS. Until we can beat them, we don't deserve a sniff of the playoffs. The good news is, our 2nd round pick just got a little better. I wonder if they should just forfeit the next pats game and save everyone the trouble.
  24. Spiller Spiller Spiller Spiller Spiller Spiller and Spiller. When he hamhanded at the end of the 1st half I knew it was over. I should have gone out and worked in the yard. He had one damned job to do. Please, never hand it to him again in an important situation, wait for garbage time so he can pad his stats or whatever. That guys CONSTANTLY makes nothing out of something, or worse.
