  1. http://www.profootballtalk.com/category/rumor-mill/ With the family of the only owner in Bills history already making it known that they won’t keep the team after Ralph Wilson (now 90 years old) passes on, Peter King of NBC reports that Buffalo Hall of Famer quarterback Jim Kelly is trying to put a group together that would buy the team. It’s unclear whether Kelly’s group would purchase the franchise in the short term, or whether the deal would wait until Mr. Wilson is playing pinochle with former U.S. President Woodrow Wilson. Kelly’s goal is to keep the team in Western New York permanently. Whether that means playing one or two (or four) games each year in Toronto remains to be seen.
  2. The thing with this situation is that if the cops were involved this female would have been charged with DWI or DUI. Let's assume if it was even lynch who was driving that he may have been drinking. Do you think he wouldn't have gotten arrested for hitting someone while under the influence? Furthermore, let's say he wasn't drinking and he did get out of the car and help. Do you think she's not going to try and press charges against a millionaire athlete that just hit her?
  3. You are correct! Those are all "Basic Assumptions" that is what some of the posters are trying to say. That "No one knows" some of us can assume anything. But in he end until you've been placed into a situation or circumstance you "don't know"how you would respond. This is precisely why I hate when people use the word "NEVER" b/c until you've been in every situation you don't know how you would respond. I commend you on being a stand-up person for how you've responded in the past but by "no means" does those events indicate how you would've responded if you were in this situation. For one let's go with the idea it was ML driving, let's also go with the idea that he also was drinking. If this was you in this situation it greatly changes the position you've previously mentioned. For one you run the risk of DWI or DUI. You run the risk of then getting arrested and losing your license. Losing endorsements Fined from team Suspended from team and or league. Embarrass your family, team, city. We didn't mention additional charged that would've been added such as reckless driving... So there would've been alot more things to consider if you were put in this situation than the ones you've previously mentioned. Not to say you would not have still got out and checked on the pedestrian but there would've been alot more at stake and you might have considered everything you could possibly lose and responded differently. But hey "Who knows" until you're put in that situation....
  4. Moorman - Top 5 P Stroud - Top 15 DT Peters - Top 10 LT Schobel - Top 15 Evans - Top 15 WR
  5. I desired a trade down initially but I felt if we were going to stay we should have picked the top DB which was McKelvin or DRC. I'm completely fine with this pick although I do like DRC size better the nock on him is he doesn't have good tacling ability and the lack of competition he faced. I secretly started wanting Branden Albert a Rochester kid but the highest rated guard in the draft that was athletic and had the ability to play OT. But I'm fine with this pick b/c the only knock on Mckelvin is his ball skills. Height is fine not great but it's also not a liability. He has the speed, cover skills, confidence, and can tackle. You can teach a player how to catch the ball so I'm more than fine with this pick! I hope we get one of those big WR's in the second ie...Hardy, Kelly are my two favorites but sweed is cool also.
  6. I like this scenario better than any other one. Rodgers-Cromatie at 11 and Kelly when we jump back to the end of the 1st. LOVE IT!!!
  7. There is no way that we can get portis for a 3 & 4th pick. Especially when we got two 3rds for Mcgahee. Portis is on a different level from Mcgahee. He's faster, more explosive, catch better, and block better than Willis. And the crazy thing is he's only a mopnth older than him. I know he's had injuries the past couple years but he always plays the game like it's his last. I'd love for us to trade for him. I'd take him for a 2 this year and third next pretty much the same as whomever gets the draft day trade for Turner will pay. And portis is also only 5 months older than turner but he's proven.
  8. I totally agree with you... The issues that you're speaking of are glaring concerns for me personally. I'm not nearly as optimistic now as I was when the season ended. Personally, I don't mind seeing McGahee go b/c I knew it was a matter of time before that was going to happen anyways. Nate was clearly leaving b/c of his desire to be the highest paid DB. I'm sad to see Fletcher go b/c he was a major impact player on the field and the locker room. However, I did realize they weren't going to resign him after he publicly made it known how hurt he was by the Bills treatment of him dealing with a contract extension. I wish him nothing but the best in DC. I'm stilll very troubled with the trading of Spikes. Here is a guy who had a major injury and worked his way back to playing last year and got hurt again that slowed down his progression. He started to come alive again at the end of the year. It usually takes a year to fully recover from that type of injury from what I've been informed. I believe we should keep Spikes and draft a RB, MLB a NT and mid round CB. At the moment I just don't see us positioning ourselves for success this year... It appears to me that the current angle they are taking is pretty much cleaning house and going with the young movement. While I don't think that's a bad thing entirely, I do believe we need some vetereans to show the young players the way and how to prepare and be a true professional. Just my take...
  9. Thank you for clarifying. And I totally agree with you. I do believe this was all part of the plan. My thought is we'll address RB through Free agency. (possibly Chris Brown) The draft is where I believe we'll get that LB, CB, DT.
  10. You totally missed my point. I was suggesting that to this point we haven't improved as a team. We've improved as an offensive line but not as a team. And considering that we were in the playoff hunt last year that's not encouraging. I also said it's not over yet b/c there are alot of free agents that are still out there along with the draft. So between the two of those I'm hopeful that our RB, DT, MLB, OLB, CB positions will get addressed.
  11. From what I heard about what he said I don't believe he was too far off. Much like Peter said. We don't have last years number 1 or 2 rusher on our team at the minute and have yet to sign a free agent t oreplace them. We have lost our top DB and have yet to replace him. Lost our top LB and our emotinal leader and have yet to replace him. Yes, it looks like we may have improved our OL but that's the only thing we improved thus far. Everywhere else is either the same our worst than last year. Therfore, that sounds like a pretty bad off season "thus far". We all know that it's not over yet but at the moment he's pretty accurate in my opinion.
  12. Wow...This is a really foolish comment. B/c of a domestic charge that was actually dropped against him...his mentallity is questioned? B/c he grew up in a poor neighborhood he's now deemed to have a "lack of smarts"? What percentage of players in the league do you think comes from a poor neighborhood? This means absolutely nothing about what they will become and how they will handle millions dropped into there hands. The stereotype that you made is the reason why there are sooo many divisions in this day and age. LAck of knowledge and b/c of that your type tend to fill in the blanks! REALLY SAD!!
  13. With a few modifications I really do like this.. I don't think Boss Bailey is a free agent.
  14. That's fine that he was pancaked. Every defensive player has been at some point in there career. The fact that he was named the defensive player of the game for his team with the team lead in tackles with 11 should prove that he was active the entire day. When I watched the game I was surprised at how active he was. Regardless to everyones reason for not liking him as a potential pick for us.. he was making play after play in the game. I like Willis he's about the same size is TKO 6'2 240 but he's running a 40 in 4.4 time. He makes plays he's a standup guy with high character, that's been through a lot and made it out. Kind areminds me of the posts last year about Ngata and everything he went through and perservered through it all. I liked him as a pick for us last year and still wish we had picked him. In my opinion, with Ngata on our team our run defense would have been much better. Aside from all of that he's done a really good job at Baltimore and there record and defensive rankins supports that. So long story short either we draft Branch the big DT if he falls to us or go after Willis to replace Fletcher considering he doesn't want to resign with us after the poor treatment from the front office. If both of them are gone then I say we go after an OT or OG. Our secondary was drafted last year so we need to dead all that picking a CB talk.
  15. Why do you feel this way? He only played two years of TE in college. He's actually played more RT than TE according to this. Left Arkansas after his junior season…played in a total of 36 games in three years, catching 28 passes for 300 yards and four touchdowns…in 2003, All-Southeastern Conference second team choice by the league's media…started every game at tight end, ranking third on the team with 21 receptions for 218 yards and four touchdowns…delivered 61 knockdowns/key blocks…played in thirteen games, starting twelve contests in 2002…finished with four receptions for 37 yards…in 2001, started three games while playing in 10…spent the first half of the season as a reserve defensive end and tackle, moving to tight end for the Auburn contest…redshirted in 2000, spending the season as a scout team defensive lineman.
  16. Kelly I like your "disastard"...that's pretty cool ESPECIALLY the Bush example!!! Way to go...
  17. lol, You're right in passing situations he was a liability last season. Maybe with a less complex defense he'll be better though b/c he can just react instead of thinking. I've heard a number of players refrence that this defense is a lot less complicated and that will alllow them to just fly around the field instead of thinking sooo much.
  18. If I can just add my two cents.... I continue to read posts referring to the Whitner speed and ability to play more than one position in the defense as beeing a necessary thing. Well the issue I have with this arguement is the fact that we're talking about a "TAMPA 2 Defense" Now just think about it for a second who were TAMPA BAY's SS? John Lynch...He's never been known as a cover safety or been mistaken as being a speed demon, so why is everyone making the point that speed was a necessary attribute? In fact neither of there safety positions were speed demons. I do understand that speed is a Great attribute but in regards to this defense John Lynch is proof that it's not necessary. Personally, I think Whitner will be pretty good; however I do believe Matt Bowens and Coy Wire could have been serviceable along with a mid round SS pick. Whitner, in my opinion wasn't a need pick it was a pick that the coaching staff obviously liked and could use in multiple ways but I don't believe it was a need pick.[/color]
  19. Hmmm....you may be on to something.
  20. Personally, I agree with you. To piggy back on what you said too often we believe the hype. We as fans get soooo engulfed at what everyone else is saying that we fail to make or own judgements. Much like the one guy said depending on what hand the QB is I believe is what should dictate the LOT and ROT compensation. I agree the margin is minimal between the two. I do believe whomever is protecting the blind side should be compensated more though. Only b/c they are on an Island with the DE and the expectation is Greater.
  21. Yea, I guess my problem is if I want to go out on a midweek day in Rochester I don't have many options. And I would prefer options. I hate how it seems like everyone knows everyone. If I go out this weekend in rochester, then again next weekend i'll see the same faces. I just like the variety that some of the larger metro areas offer.
  22. I'm an ex Rochesterian and I'm in Northern VA area. But you are right there are lots of young people from upstate NY down here.
  23. I echo your comment. I grew up in Rochester my entire life and moved to Northern VA(Metro DC) a little over a year ago. There is absolutely no comparing the two. The biggest thing that stands out is the cost of living. I miss that about Rochester. Along with the food that Rochester and Buffalo areas have. The traffic is crazy here. I miss being able to travel to any part of the city within 20 minutes. But the things I don't miss is the nightlife. Rochester is really a GREAT place if your older, married with kids and already established. But for young single people who aren't yet established and looking for fun with a nightlife and to began a career it's simply not the place to be. But to my understanding the same can be said for Syracuse, Buffalo, Albany and the rest of WNY. From what I'm told Rochester actually has more going on than the rest of them aside from maybe Buffalo(only b/c of the Bills, Sabres and Canada) If only I could move the city closer to a major metropolitan area. I do miss the food alot. Sals Birdland, Country Sweet, Bill Grays, Tom Whals, Jim and Ralphs... and in Buffalo Lanovas, Anchor Bar.
  24. I say he hasn't done anything in respect to him claiming to be the best back. In him fulfilling is role as a leader. I feel very comfortable in saying you could replace him with anumber of backs that we don't necessally consider elite and they will post very similiar numbers. I can think of a good number of backs that if you gave them the ball as often as WM gets it would post numbers not too far off. He has the potential of a top tier back but in my opinion he hasn't consistently proved it. He seem to work in spurts.
