  1. Thoner: Let the whiners whine, it's what they do. Edwards did have some bad games, clearly. He also had some really strong games (Denver, Jax, etc..). He was only in his second year, but b/c he's not Jim Kelly, some on this board revel in trashing him. He has played well more often than not, and his upside is significant. Considering he's had to play under the yoke of Dick "The Corpse" Jouron, and a defense that can't stop anybody, and he has no # 2 receiver, I think he's done remarkably well. Others see it differently; no problemo.......
  2. I live in Tampa, and the Bucs are expected to re-sign Bryant. Also, many of the other players that we speculate about here on TSW also will never get to the market. Many, or even most, of the good ones will be re-signed or franchised, unfortunately......
  3. Bruce grabs Hostetler's wrist, w/ the ball in it, in the end zone. If he just shakes that ball out, we have a 2 score lead in the first half, and it's likely "game over" against the plodding Giants. We did get a safety, but I believe that a TD there would have won that game. Damn!!!....
  4. Funny stuff! I too figured this thread to be joke, as Kelsay is horrible against the run AND the pass. Salary aside, he is not now, nor has he ever been, even adequate, let alone good. He is a back up, at best.
  5. Exactly, thank you! I'm not saying he's a top 10 corner. But every FA period , whoever is solid at a postion of need for a given team, they get paid, and paid more than the top guys the year before, etc... Greer will get huge $ on the open market. Period.
  6. ...Correct: almost always pass, AND with an empty backfield, totally telegraphing our intentions and making the D-line's job much easier. I just am totally befuddled by this. What am I missing here?....
  7. Greer has earned, and will get, top 10 corner $ on the open market. I personally would "transition tag" him, so we get SOMETHING when some other team inevitably signs him. He is a very solid cover corner, young, and a good tackler. I'd hate to lose him, but I'm sure the penny-wise and pound-foolish Bills will let him walk. As for all of our "depth", one injury, or God forbid 2, and we're screwed. Keep your good players.....
  8. A few observations: - We were getting KILLED until mid way through the second qtr- it was 13-0, Donkey's driving at aprox our 18 yard line, chance to go up 20-0. A holding penalty moved them back, and the wheels came off from there for them. Denney pushed Cutler out of bounds for a 6 yard loss on a QB roll out on the next play, then another penalty, etc...They tried a 54 yards FG, missed it (just short), we got great field position, and then scored to give us life. That one holding penalty changed the game. -Marshawn and Freddy were beasts, as was Reed. - the protection was great all day. - OBD whipping boy Denney had a very good game: Sack, blocked pass, several tackles for loss, sniffed out a screen for a loss, etc.. - OBD whipping boy Trent also had a very solid game. Great ball fakes, repeatedly found Reed in crucial situations, hung in the pocket and took a real shot to deliver the ball to Freddy on that 62 yard "wheel route" that got us back in the game RIGHT AFTER the Donkeys had re-gained the lead in the 4th qtr, 23-16. Great throw. - Bryan Scott played very well. I think he starts next year w/ Whitner at FS (no secret there, I guess). - Throughout the game, when we blitzed, we forced some bad throws from Cutler. With our standard 4 man "rush", he had all day and was killing us. He had almost 400 yards, and they finished w/ over 500 yards! Solomon Wilcotts was saying all game "Why are they not blizing him? He's killing them"...._ - on the last play (4th down, 25 seconds to go) we finally did blitz him. We rushed 7, leaving 4 in coverage on 4 receivers. Thankfully, Spencer Johnson came free and was in Cutlers face, forcing an early throw off his back foot, and this is crucial, because...Stockley ran a post from the right side toward the goal post. He was wide open and had 3 steps on Corner. BUT, the throw was errant, to the right of the right hash, forcing Stockley to pivot back from the middle back to beyond the right hash. He then, as we all know, made a great adjustment in the air and had the catch, until Corner, showing great hustle, stayed w/ the play and knocked what would have been a TD out of his hands. Just a great recovery by Corner. Wilcotts final comment was that you had to give credit to these Bills, coming in w/ nothing to play for, overcoming a horrible start, and coming from behind in the 4th qtr to win a thriller. - After all of our justifiable hand wringing of the past few weeks, it was refreshing to be reminded that we CAN play some good ball....
  9. Let's see: Az is driving in the 4th qtr of the NFC title game. The OC, whose job it is put his team in the best position to win, is in the middle of attempting out think the other team and get plays into his QB in rapid fire order. He opts to go w/ a package that doesn't include Boldin, and he has endure said prima donna SCREAMING IN HIS FACE as the game is being decided. OK, that makes a lot of sense, if you're a moron. So the coaches have to stop and EXPLAIN to a guy why he isn't involved in a particular series? Yea, OK. Not on my team....BTW, Said prima donna signed a $22.5 million, 4 YEAR extention LAST YEAR. So at the beginning of the second season, this year, with 3 of the 4 years left to go, he demands a new deal. And this is OK because....why?.....Because Fitz got more? Puleeeeze. Boldin is a great player, but also a punk and a prima donna. And nothing in the article at the top of this thread changes that.
  10. Re: Poz- He's a good kid and all, but very pedestrian so far. For those who say "he led the team in tackles!", EVERY MLB leads their team in tackles. That is by design. Schemes are such that he SHOULD be free enough to get to the ball, from the middle of the field, the most often....
  11. Kelsay is the worst starter on a bad team. Who could replace him and do better? Are you kidding? My grandmother, and she's dead.
  12. ....Would the Bills cut a back up to save $2.5 million? Gee, that's tough one......Hmmmmmm.....In a heartbeat.
  13. I remember it well: This trade was set prior to the draft- The Bill, or rather Donahoe, actually had a deal w/ Jax to jump one spot ahead of Pitts to grab Big Ben, whom TD knew the Steelers wanted. Part of it was that we needed a QB, but a big part too was that TD wanted to screw Pitts. Well, Jax thought that Reggie Williams w/b gone by their pick, but he wasn't, so they backed out of deal, which TD thought was set in stone. So Big Ben went to Pitts, but was damn close to coming here. Ah, serendipity....
  14. "..someone who gets it"? We all "get it", dude. Where, exactly, are you gonna pick up this here "franchise QB"? They're not just laying around in the bargain bins. Jeez.........And yes, I DO think Trent is heading there, actually.....
  15. For all of you whiners about how bad Edwards is, remember that at least 3 of his games, of only aprox 20 played, have been in MISERABLE conditions: Cleveland blizzard last year, Giants at home last year (50 MPH winds), Cheatriots at home (50+ MPH wind). So to have remotely good stats, with a weak team and poor coaching, is remarkable. I believe in the kid. He is poised, and very accurate. AND, he's a humble, quality individual. Until the concussion in AZ, he was playing at a very high level: 3 comeback wins in the prior 3 weeks. Obviously, he played poorly at times this year (i.e. Browns game), but every QB has bad days (see Delhomme, Jake and Manning, Eli). To expect so much out a kid that started as a rookie last year is unrealistic. As a lifelong Bills fan, I am very encouraged about his upside. He's easily the best we've had in 10+ years.
  16. Why aren't the Bills willing to upgrade coordinators? Hmmmm.......Oh yeah, MONEY! Plus, no one of any quality would come into this situation now w/ "The Corpse" being a lame duck, and dealing w/ a very meddlesome 90 year old owner. The Bills right now, I believe, are looked on as a bad joke. Seriously.
  17. No evidence whatsoever. As previously stated, his "inner circle" consists of the following: a cantakerous and meddling 90 year old, his accountant, his marketing genius cum GM, and a part time scout that lives, AND WORKS, in florida. And, he just rewarded 3 years of mediocrity by thumbing his nose at his supremely loyal fan base with this gem: "It wasn't a hard decision for me at all". Wow! You want evidence that the Bills are on the right path? There is no such evidence, only the contrary I'm afraid...
  18. The point at the top of this thread was that Dawkins is a cheap shot artist who attempts to injure his opponent on virtually every play. I saw the same thing this weekend, and was surprised that he got away w/ it. All this other talk about "better than our guys" or "leadership" is beside the point. He intends to injure, like Rodney Harrison. If that floats your boat, good for you.
  19. You mean a murderous thug that beats his chest after every play and is all about me, me, me? And he literally got away w/ murder. Let's add T.O. too, and have an ego maniac like Jimmy Johnson coach 'em. I'd honestly rather lose w/ charecter than win w/ douche bags. Not a popular position, I'm sure, but that's just my 2 cents.......
  20. Totally agree: It's not run or pass, it's the GD empty backfield on 3rd and short that allows the D to just Tee off w/ out worry about their run lanes. I've asked several times: Am I missing something? It just seems so obvious that empty backfield on 3rd and short is a gift to the D.....
  21. He switches from CB to safety and has ZERO coverage skills. He is a solid tackler (usually), but has poor ball skills. How many interceptions or passes defensed has this top 10 "franchise player' had in his 3 years? He is not good in coverage, and is average at best as a player.
  22. ....like our safeties. Milloy is a stiff, and I would expect Warner to continue to go after him.
  23. I think Williams, while not a dominator, is consistantly underrated. In re-watching the Cheatriot game, he was the best defensive player we had that day. And, at the risk of blapheming, Whitner is simply not the player we hoped to build around at the #8 overall spot. Yes, he is versatile, but he's not really good at either SS or 3rd corner. And he showed zero ball skills at FS in his few starts there. In fact, he was toasted several times. As others have said, we have far more glaring needs to fill (i.e. Kelsay-UGH), but all of this Whitner love is, IMO, wishful thinking.
  24. Great, from-the-heart post. Speaks for a lot us, I'm afraid...
