But it's all good. I mean he mumbled an apology, solicited a hooker, and he was just a dopey college kid at the time.
Oh, did I mention he came out of college early?
So, you think it makes sense to move up in the draft to get a guy even if you could've drafted him later and not given up as much or anything? And this is OK because the guy might be a starter day one? (Largely because Marv himself created the holes these guys are filling.)
Sure. Whatever.
BINGO! We have a winner.
The criticism is not the players and it is not the Bills smarter-than-everyone-else unique value system.
It is their obvious cluelessness with respect to the value systems of everyone else in the NFL. You don't not trade down 3 or 4 spots and pick up an extra pick when you have a great chance of getting the guy you really want anyway. You don't trade up 12 spots in the draft when trading up 3 would've given you the same value.
It's a good pick only if he was about to go to some other team and he turns out to be a great player. The Bills needed to move up if there was a run on the position, but it is not at all clear there was a run imminent. Someone declared that the Jets were going to take him, but that wasn't substantiated by any other source and they went offense.
I have nothing against the players, mind you. A solid S and DT are nice additions. But, Marv is big-time minimizing his return in this draft.
I'll wait until it's all over, but this is not good and not fun.
Not to mention -- who were they afraid was going to reach for this guy? Certainly it wasn't Carolina. Carolina has a defensive line already. That's why they are a playoff team.
He's well named. Highly acquainted with the criminal Justice system.
If Levy drafts this thug, I won't believe a word he says ever again.
But, it's McCargo...
