  1. The jury is still out on the trade although I am mostly positive about it. To TKO
  2. In my very biased opinion TT was the prototype back. Roger Craig was the first back to do 1000/1000 but TT was better. Mind you I am basing this observation on stuff like, the early 80's were the start of the modern NFL and I really dont know about earlier players.
  3. That's good news IMO if he can manage to rotate up and down the line. The problem would be how durable will he remain if he's playing more reps per game.
  4. Ok now I am in love with the guy.
  5. Good post IMO. There are so many variables involved in something like this that I hesitate to post my own guesses. I just pray that we get one good to great LB and a decent one in this draft.
  6. Let me echo yours and The Deans comments to a certain degree. I think we will see 2 LB's on day 1. I do however, hope you are wrong and we manage to get Willis. We could end up with with a very young defense with tons of upside. I actually am not upset that we lost Holcomb. He doesn't fit our offensive scheme even though he is an excellent back up. The benefit of Nall getting more snaps in practice outweighs the loss of his veteran (weak armed) presence. As to TKO...I will miss him. He was a great player for us and I wish him the best with his career. In the cash to cap approach though, he was simply too expensive unless he returned to 95% of the player he was before. I will reserve full judgement on the trade until I see what the conditions are on the 2008 draft pick.
  7. Cool highlight reel. He does seem to be caught from behind a bit but still better than anything we have had lately.
  8. So Bruce was 265 or so when he played?. Cool, I believe you. Do you remember if he was heavier and lost weight due to the flu, or is that something else I got wrong?
  9. But ieatcrayonz is funny. I mean cmon a little levity is always appreciated. Better than someone dogging out Marv or asking why we didnt keep NC. JMO of course.
  10. With my incredibly faulty memory it seems Bruce was around 290 early on. I vaguely recollect he had the flu and lost a bunch of weight and then played around the 275 range. Probably completely incorrect though.
  11. Wait you played MMO's? So those aren't really 2/3's of a sandwich? Oh my the image is shattered now
  12. Necroequinesadism is a mental disorder. Please bear this in mind and treat it's victims with the proper care and consideration.
  13. Well I think there would also have to be certain things added to it. Like say, you arent eligible till your 5th year to enter free agency. You could franchise a certain number of players like say 3. One player would have say a Larry Bird exemption type of contract. Is no one willing to play devil's advocate or do I have to? There are upsides to the idea. A) Players play harder in contract years. B) Elimination of dead cap money. C) You get what you pay for as a fan and an owner.
  14. I will put you in the no category. Honestly, I am simply curious as to the opinions of others. My friend mentioned it briefly again at lunch and I was reminded of it by something said in another thread. Besides my putrid average post's per day needs all the help it can get. Personally, I would have said, "Umm do you think we might have to spend a lot more on coaching staff/scouts as the free agency market will be extremely hard to evaluate". That's just me though.
  15. Yeah it's more for idle chit chat I threw it out there. I can see how they might be able to swing it with certain provisions though. Say some sort of disability pension for the injured guys and lets be fair, most have a 4 year career or so. Permanent pension and a few million dollars sounds pretty dang good unless you are the CEO of a major company and then it's just your lunch expense account.
  16. It's my name from a couple of other message boards. The original name was err because of an MMO (hopefully most who know that term can't poke fun).
  17. Sorry I should clarify, as in that's the league standard.
  18. A friend of mine is a big proponent of 1 year contracts as in, that's the duration of all contracts league wide. IOW's every year is a contract year and you will only be rewarded for "what have you done for us lately". Of course the NFLPA would never go for it and it would have to be a hard salary cap IMO. There would have to be some sort of provision for replacing injured players. I have my own feelings on the subject but I was curious as to how you folks felt. (btw before people start going off about how he's a complete moron, it's just a random idea of his and he's extremely knowledgable about almost every sport) Edited for clarity
  19. Oh my too funny. Wait they made fun of the Bills!! Oh I cant help it...
  20. I believe because he was too expensive for his on field performance. Hence, everyone saying they would take him at league minimum.
  21. I would respectfully disagree with the first part of your statement. I could care less if he's cheap, comes back, and then start's griping to high heaven as he probably wont be worth it. If he can even keep his mouth shut then it's a no-brainer to me.
  22. Hmmm Echoing some other sentiments... If he has a gallon of gas in the tank, and he won't be a malcontent, I say yes. Might be kinda nice to have a WR who can catch well and is a decent size. 6'2" and 210 makes him bigger than anyone I can think of on our roster at the WR position. I would say the league minimum and no guaranteed spot seems fair. Throw some nice incentives in and lets see what happens. Oh, and if JP is going to meltdown because someone preferred another QB over him and they come back to the team, then IMO it's best to know now JP can't handle even minimal pressure.
  23. Agreed. I remember when Tasker got some ludicrous salary for the era. I want to say it was like 1/16th of the salary cap at the time but I am probably off. I remember arguing with a friend of mine ,a NE fan, that he was worth it as he was guaranteed to do something spectacular and win one game a year for us. If you can manage even a few of those playmakers you are set.
  24. That was perhaps a tad harsh. However, I do agree it's unlikely we will win the SB this year. Sadly, we are playing this whole offseason like a NFL (due to financial constraints) Lite team. I would be cool with them overspending if there was a plan there. I would be cool with them spending money now to front load contracts. Seems to me though they are just spending to get by. I am probably wrong and I do actually have a lot of faith in Levy... In Marv we trust.
