  1. Or is it a ghost in the machine...
  2. IMO Wikipedia is good for skimming very basic, general information. To use it properly, you need to pay attention to the warnings and use the actual linked resource instead of the Wiki article itself. IMO it is a great collection of links with a general summary of them. There are tons of issues with it, you have bias creeping in as some editors hog pages and control all content. Of course, any encyclopedia is exempt from such bias. If in doubt, check the talk pages and the logs. I admit there are tons of biased articles, but there are few quite a few non biased sources available. Despite my many doubts about Wikipedia as the source they claim to be, it is terribly useful.
  3. ****, will they be too big to fail? Seriously, they have tons of capital it seems and they are branching out into the cell/netbook area with fairly low cost stuff. Why are you down on them? What am I missing? To Google's reaction to China: I find their stand justified, even if the cyber-attacks weren't from the Chinese government/military they have every right to back down from a business venture they object to morally.
  4. Saint with a hint of badassness<sic>, well played...
  5. So your quibble is over Income Tax. That is fair enough, honestly I would love to see a breakdown all taxes paid. If you add in all taxes, (don't forget every tax city, county, state piece) what the actual percentage is might tell a different story. Perhaps, the wealthy aren't as screwed as most think.
  6. LOL I regularly hit a ton of wiki sites looking for new ideas and such as part of my job, still trying to figure out how to convince my bosses that is the site I need to focus on.
  7. That would be federal income taxes. There are other federal taxes. Social Security tax (for something most will never receive according to many on this board), Medicare tax, unemployment insurance tax, and gas tax. Probably more, that's just a quick list.
  8. IIRC Clinton's final budget was balanced on paper, but skipped expenditures it knew it would have to make. Only two I really remember were disaster relief of any sort and the monitoring of Iraq.
  9. I love the link at the top of the article. http://www.2012unlocked.com/?hop=safemkt
  10. Virtually none of the states are in compliance with this Real ID program — adopted in 2005 — requiring state motor vehicle bureaus to obtain and internally scan and store personal information like Social Security cards and birth certificates for a national database.
  11. You told him to shut up, that makes him a victim that believes he should pull himself up by his bootstraps or somesuch...
  12. You aren't in the 40% he is discussing (not sure right off hand what percentile that puts you in) and we are discussing total taxation, not federal income tax.
  13. +1 Really wish people would quit quoting this waste of skin (Oh no I didn't) as it makes ignore useless. Chef>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>WisconsinBillzFan
  14. Say it ain't so. Is it at all relevant that the higher percentage hits them even harder?
  15. He might be drunk today. Missed that one and fairly sure he missed the one on mandatory health care for those with religious beliefs, just skimmed that one though.
  16. Duh, you have to talk to this guy.
  17. That would make more sense, 65/35 is worse odds than the casino I worked at.
  18. Hey Magox, or anyone with knowledge on the subject, I have a question. There was an insurance person on Rush today. She spoke about their business model and said they were doomed in 2-3 years. She said that the current model is that they are required by state and federal law to pay out 65% of their revenue to claims. The other 35% was for salaries (presumably advertising and real estate too), and a supply of cash in case of a disaster. The Senate bill aims to cut that to 85/15. A quick google search turned up a few things, but not a breakdown of that 35%. Anyone got a clue about this?
  19. It seems so much longer...
  20. Candy at the schoolyard doesn't count. I kid I kid
  21. That is going to be a good gig, "Still not sure on number four, further inspection is needed."
  22. Nothing Can Stop the Blob!
  23. No way in hell she ever gets elected as President. Desperate much?
