  1. What I hate is when a player has a son, names him after himself, and then puts "Sr." on the back of his jersey.
  2. It's so dumb. We're meant to believe that TB and Hassan Reddick negotiated a contract in 3 minutes.
  3. I used to think that, but the funding rule is not mandatory. It reads "may" not "shall": https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/nfls-funding-rule-isnt-mandatory-did-the-browns-make-escrow-payment-for-deshaun-watson-deal
  4. That sound you hear is Rex Ryan trying to get a job in the Bills front office.
  5. The joke to be made here relates to that sleep apnea thread currently running on Off the Wall. He also saves a lot of money on cat litter.
  6. Doesn't really snow here though. It does get really cold in January.
  7. This whole FA class is a trash bin, but some of them won't be bargains.
  8. 5 minutes. I can hear Rapaport cracking his knuckles from here.
  9. Who is the biggest star that has actually hit FA this year?
  10. The agents and GMs were all together for a week at the Combine. You have to think that a lot of negotiating gets done there off the record.
  11. Elite players don't get traded or hit FA until they are at the end of their careers. What Beane has to do is find a player that he feels is being underutilized on another team. They did this with Connor McGovern. In other words, I don't want Trey Hendrickson now. I want the version of him that signed in Cincinnati.
  12. Would the league have to create an online Trade Request Form? Would Google Forms suffice or would they be forced to spring for a Formstack subscription?
  13. I don’t trust Spotrac on cap space. They deal in absolutes. Cap space is not your checkbook or bank account. It’s more like a wealthy person’s tax return after it was completed by a shady accountant.
  14. Von went from the biggest FA signing in team history to his release being pinned at TBD for less than 48 hours.
  15. Not being able to be in on Darnold and Rodgers really limits the pool.
  16. I love how Rapaport editorialises at the end of his tweets like he’s an analyst. My point was more about fan psychology. From a football standpoint, giving other teams busts a low-level contract and a camp invite is good practice.
  17. The Bills front office is the same group that found Bernard in the 3rd, Shakir in the 5th and Benford in the 6th. Fans see the hits by other teams and fixate on the misses by their own team.
  18. The Payton Turner situation is why fans have a much more negative estimation of their favorite team’s drafting in relation to other teams. When other teams have an Elam-level bust, we just forget they exist while your own team’s bust festers like a wound.
  19. Good young players are resigning with their drafting teams more and more. I think it’s a combination of the rapidly rising cap and the extra playoff spot. Free agency is becoming overpaying for older players.
  20. Because some guys here wanted him in the draft and now he was available again.
  21. I'm sure the cap hit went down for the next two years and then they plan to extend him again.
  22. I don't blame him at all. The Browns are stupid for paying a DL when they don't have a QB. You simply cannot win without a QB.
  23. It is if the Browns made it very clear that they were not trading him under any circumstances and he would have had to sit out an entire year. That makes a player make a financial decision really quickly.
  24. DK Metcalf will now turn into a crazy Diva WR. It's in the water in Pittsburgh. I'm surprised that Tyreek was able to complete that process without a stop there.
  25. Maybe the solution to get some WRs for the Bills is getting the Saudis to invest.
