Game week thread - Pats at Bills SNF
Low Positive replied to BillsFan619's topic in The Stadium Wall
He also made Bill O'Brien and Charlie Weis a lot of money. Brian Daboll has both Brady and Josh Allen to thank for his 401K. -
In addition to heart rate monitors, those things have a GPS tracker too. A lot of athletes wear them under their uniform. How else do you think they know how fast a guy ran during a play or how many miles a soccer player ran during a game? https://shop.statsports.com/products/apex-athlete-series

Game week thread - Pats at Bills SNF

I bit the bullet on Tuesday and watched every long run the Saints had. The common denominator was the DTs getting pushed wide. Then once the RB or QB got to the second level, there was a missed solo tackle. -
But it made no sense. The only similarity between McDermott's defenses in Carolina and Frazier's defense is that they were both 4-3. McDermott had an attacking 4-3 in Carolina. He comes from the Jim Johnson/Eagles coaching tree, along with Spags. Frazier is a Tampa/Cover 2 zone guy who comes out of the Tony Dungy coaching tree. The "soft zone" that everyone here hates actually went out the door with Frazier. But that narrative was formed, and people think every defensive failure is due to it.

There seems to be a pattern here McDremott/Babich/Bills Mafia/Everyone gets mad after a subpar defensive performance They hold a hard practice to kick their butts into gear. Dudes get hurt in hard practice. -

There is nothing they can do in week 5 about that except keep winning. -
I'm not arguing that the Bills defense looked good. They didn't. But they did about the same against the Saints as the 49ers defense did in week 2, and most consider them to be a good, well-coached unit. In other words, the Saints were the Saints against the Bills. I think only the Chiefs and maybe the Lions have been playing stellar defense this year. The Packers defense, which was considered elite just a week and a half ago, gave up 40 to the Cowboys, who were playing without CeeDee Lamb. If the Bills defense gives up major yards and/or points to the Pats offense on Sunday, I'll be right there with you in front of OBD with a flaming pitchfork. But if we lose, I expect us to be calling for the Special Teams Coordinator's head. The Pats have two wins this year. Neither of them happens without an absurd amount of kick and punt return yards. Well, they would have beaten the Panthers anyway, but it wouldn't have been the laugher that it was without 14 first-half points off of punt returns.

They are really high on themselves up there after crushing the Panthers this weekend. If you go to Pats Planet, they made 3 different phone wallpapers of Diggs after that game. They also have one with Maye's league rankings. -

I mean like "school of fish" or "murder of crows." Could it be a "BALCO of Meatheads?" Or how about a "Stallone of Meatheads?" -
Do you know that the Bills were one of only 6 teams to hold their opponent to under 20 points last week?

Beane sucks. Fire him. Fire everybody. Trade Josh Allen. Who cares? This is Drake Maye's division now, and we might as well rebuild for the next two decades. I read that right here, so it must be true. -

Josh McDaniels is a meathead too. They got a whole collection. What is the collective noun for meatheads? -
I don't know how the cap works in relation to IR in the NFL, but contending NHL teams stash guys on LTIR all season, use the cap space for additional players, and then that injured player is magically healthy for the playoffs when the cap no longer applies.

The only team that crushed the Saints this year was the Seahawks, and it wasn't their offense or defense that did it. They broke their backs early with two long kick returns. The only team that the Pats have crushed this year was the Panthers and it wasn't their offense or defense that broke the game open. It was two long punt returns in the first half. -

Fan psychology is interesting. The fans of a 2-2 Pats team are WAY more confident than fans of a 4-0 Bills team. The period from 2000-2018 has left an indelible mark. Bills fans have been waiting for the other shoe to drop for the past 5 years and Pats fans expect to dominate the league again any day now. Anytime they get a wiff of success, they start strutting. But remember, these are the same MFers who were fitting Mac Jones (MJ10, the Baby GOAT) for a gold jacket just a few years ago. -

I don't think most of the posters here saying that the Pats are playing well have looked at anything other than the score of last week's game. Here's how that went. Pats win the toss and defer. Carolina drives for a TD on their first possession but misses the XP. 6-0. Pats go 3 and out on the ensuing drive. Punt. Panthers get a first, but get stopped. Punt. RETURNED BY NEW ENGLAND FOR 87 YARDS AND A TD. 7-6 Carolina punts agan, but this time our old friend Sam Martin puts it in the EZ. NE has an excellent drive for a TD. This was a good one. 14-6. Carolina drives down to the NE 25. Bryce Young trips and takes a horrible self-inflicted 11-yard sack. They miss the FG. NE uses the short field to get another TD. 21-6. On the next drive, the Panthers punt and Jones pops a 61 YARD PUNT RETURN DOWN TO THE CAR 14. NE TD. 28-6 and Game Over. On this return, three Panthers got their hands on him before Sam Martin tripped him to prevent the TD. Two guys tried to arm tackle him on the sideline instead of shoving him out of bounds. It was a comedy of errors. If Carolina hadn't missed a chip shop FG and given up 148 yards on punt returns, it would probably have been 14-9 at the half. NE still wins 10 times out of 10, but the lopsided score was a result of Carolina quitting after two special teams blunders. Whatever they do, the Bills need to keep punts away from Jones. In both of NE's wins this year, he's been the difference maker. -

Given the fact that bad teams get high draft picks, all of them should improve after a year or two. But most don't. -

SI Article on Trades That Should Happen (a few Bills ones)

Mike Brown would rather trade his whole salary for a 2030 7th than eat 1/8 of it to trade him for a 2026 2nd. Who do you like that's on a bad team that might be available? -

I read that. I assume that all these trades are occurring in a vacuum, because otherwise the Saints would have trouble fielding a team. but seriously, I like the idea of flipping a pick for a half year of Hendrickson. Pass rushers, unlike DBs and WRs, are pretty much plug and play. -
In the Lamar Jackson era, the Ravens have swept the Steelers only once. That was in 2019. Since 2020, the Ravens have gone 2-8 in the regular season against the Steelers. They have a hard time against Tomlin, who seems to have Lamar's number.
-
Not unless something drastically changes. They have looked lost in their two games without Burrow and they have Lions, Packers, and Steelers in their next three games. They'll be at 2-5 by the time they get to a winnable game against the Jets and even then, I can't see how they can move the ball on anyone with that QB behind that OL.
-
Why? Ravens announced today that both Marlon Humphries and Roquon Smith will miss 2-3 weeks with soft tissue injuries. There is a real chance that they'll enter thein week 7 bye at 1-5.
