  1. The players that hire him want to maximize their value, just like Peters did. There were some front offices that actually liked dealing with him because he did his homework when he set his value for a player. The team knew where they stood and could take it or leave it, there wasn't much negotiating. Someone had posted a good link a while back about how Parker operates (maybe when Peters left) and it was a good read. I think I remember reading that Parker usually finds someone to hire his client at the value he believes is fair. Does anyone know if the Bills have ever re-signed one of Parker's clients?
  2. I really can't believe we didn't tag him and the only way I see that as being better for the future of the Buffalo Bills is financially with cash to cap. It is certainly not about wins because the team is more talented with him on the roster. And if you've already stated you are going to add "dust settles" guys why would you want those guys to guarantee you won't get a comp pick? Wouldn't it be better for the organization if you sign guys this year with the cap space you have then let him walk next year with hopefully not needing to sign those guys? I'd hate to think if we sign some core special teams guys that takes us out of the running for a comp pick. If that's in the best interest of the Bills then you're just confirming (again) the best interest of the Bills is money.
  3. With Favre, he took a lot of coverage from Harvin and did not drop many balls. But I don't think he can stay healthy enough to be a number one. I'd hate to miss out on one of the good wr's that should be around in the top of the 2nd (or even the third) because we feel Rice is the answer at that position. With all the talent in the draft this year I think we will get a shot at a wr that would normally be taken at the end of the first round. Hopefully we can get the right guy.
  4. I agree that it looks like a pipe dream at this point. My only hope is that three QB's are taken before us and St Louis takes Matthews because of his dad as well as someone trades up to get take a "suprise" player. But that could be a three pipe dream...
  5. He has a lot of work to do before that happens, but he seems to have the talent. He is the OT of these three that I wouldn't mind seeing at LG while he keeps learning. They did a lot of down blocking with him at Auburn and it looks like to me at least, that he could destroy peolple at the NFL level. Then move him to RT if Pears (or Hairston) gets hurt and then he starts in 2015 at RT.
  6. I wouldn't bet on anything until the FA dust setlles. I think that will tell you what front offices around the league think of this draft class. If I remember correctly Geno Smith was a lock in the top 10 for most if not all the time running up to the draft. I won't be suprised if only one qb gets taken before us and the top 3 OT's are off the board when we pick.
  7. I think if A) Hairston is back at full strength B) Hairston or Pears can play LG then 105 is a fine place to start because we have at least upgraded the line a little. If those are not true I think it should be earlier, maybe at 73 in Astro's sim.
  8. I've said it before and I'll say it again - I've been told we are in dire need of core special teams players. Let's get with the program Brown!
  9. If they want to win this year they should not trade him, let him play the season out. At least I will know the Bills are serious about winning instead of rebuilding if they let him play the tag out. Assuming we get a couple players this draft there will be plenty of picks next year to find a free safety assuming meeks/williams don't step up. Trade down will be nice, but I think with this talented of a draft we may not trade chart value. Which is okay given the talent available, but some folks may be upset.
  10. I just think our QB situation makes our need great enough to take the OT. And I think that also plays into your teams mentioned in that their qb's have overcome the line shortcomings. In our case I think we need our line to overcome the qb shortcomings at least (hopefully) in the short term.
  11. I think a top flight OT would help EJ's development more than any other position selected at #9 so I hope there is value there and we take one. I could live with Watkins or a defensive player but I would like to see an OT taken. It also gives us options down the road if Glenn proves difficult to sign or if Glenn is signed maybe we could trade the other OT much like the dream qb scenario everyone likes to reference if we pick another first rounder. At least we could get some playing time out of overloading the OT position. And for the record I'm fine with any of the three top OT's, I think Lewan is solid and his mental lapses will be curtailed once he gets to the NFL.
  12. I've seen birds sitting in the sun, I guess they will get some benefit from it as opposed to not being in the sun. That and their feathers doing a good job insulating them...
  13. I don't agree with that because it is different sides of the majority and the media reacts to what sells and fuels the distraction. But I will end this conversation now because I do not believe it is about football and I not here to argue.
  14. You mean the comments where he felt obligied to say he really liked women because there were rumors that he was gay? He felt the need to comment for the same reason we've got discussion here. You may not like where we are as a society, but it's where we are. There have certainly been changes over the course of time, but these changes do not come in the night swiftly and silently. You may hope that it would but it does not. At the time "don't ask, don't tell" was a breakthrough but now it's seen as close minded. One example of how things change. You want to think I don't understand what's going on you are entitled to your opinon. I am merely pointing out that I don't believe most front offices will want to put up with the additional distractions. What's going to happen if he gets cut? Will it be because.... The talking points are there and therefore the distractions, right or wrong.
  15. I didn't say it would be all, but I think it will be more than you think. Front offices seem to be very risk averse, guys have dropped in the draft for many reasons and there is so much taken into account. Somebody upthread talked about how the Titans in the 90's had a couple "rumored" to be gay but that was "back then". Guys that age are coaching now, so that attitude isn't totally gone.
  16. Yes, but they rarely invite distractions, they have enough to deal with already. You don't think Tebow has enough talent to on be a practice squad somewhere in the league? Da'Rick didn't work hard enough, and he wasn't kept around, not even on the practice squad.
  17. Do we have 8 pages on that? How's being a distraction working for Tim Tebow? Not many qb's have a playoff victory.
  18. We have 8 pages on it here and counting. Did you even know who he was a week ago?
  19. I think he's already made himself a distraction and I think there are very few coaches that like distractions in the locker room.
  20. I wonder if they would make a play for Clowney if he fell to 5?
  21. It's all about the math. Yes, he's got his warts, the proof will be next year of course. But he isn't George Edwards or Wannstadt "doing a favor" for his friend. He is a guy with some experience and as DC did a good enough job to get a HC gig. The position coaches have some pedigree also and are not all just coming with Schwartz from Det so if/when he leaves we will have a quality option to promote from within. I feel like this is a big departure from the past and is mainly a result of collecting enough talent where we don't have to flush half the starters because they "don't fit the system", aka there are a lot of "just another guys".
  22. I've had my moments herding things out of bars, but I've never had that much to drink.
