  1. Pittsburgh had rejected financing too, back in the day before Heintz Field.
  2. I just don't think he can absorb 16 games worth of that type of punishment. I thought he was freakin dead on the two point play. All I saw was his hand on the ball with it stretched into the endzone. No movement, no nothing. I was saying to the tv, man down, someone might want to check on him. I thought he did enough on the last drive to win. He was much better than what we've seen out of Fitzpatrick. I was looking for improvement out of him and I think so far he has gotten better as the season has gone on. I don't think he will ever be like brady etc but I think we will be able to win with him as long as he improves enough to keep himself healthy.
  3. Not a former bill, but I'm surprised Dwayne Bowe doesn't get a look from folks. The browns were a tire fire when he was there, although it seemed like he wasn't putting the effort in. Maybe he would really want back on a roster. Anyone have any info on him? Yolo with the Ohio connection?
  4. I really wish they would just say to him you need to be able to practice fully in order to play, end of story.
  5. On paper that is true, but as we've seen when you have to sign decent free agents in the off season you don't get those picks. It seems to me the bears are going to sign free agent talent so they may be willing to deal for less than the comp pick. That said, I don't think it makes sense for us between the one year rental for draft assets, the cost and our offensive philosophy being run heavy. It could be problematic if defenses find a way to stop our running game but I don't think the value of getting him is there.
  6. Hmmm, said I said I thought he did fine as a play caller on the sidelines, implying he didn't need to be in the booth to do it. The reasons the offensive wasn't a top unit in the league are many. In the end, I thought Chan got as much as he could out of our offensive personnel at the time while the front office was trying to acquire players who weren't getting injured all the time. Part of getting everything out of the players was calling plays that put guys in a position to make plays. I'm not commenting on the results.
  7. Chan did fine while he was here. I'm going to say the biggest issue with Roman was calling the game for a developing qb. As with Kap, he seemed to want the qb to make a leap from a running qb to a qb he wasn't (pocket passer) too quickly and didn't adjust his play calling when it didn't work. The season is short, the time to work on the passing game is when you have the game in hand not when it is undecided.
  8. You certainly can't blame his position coach for this.
  9. Yep, confirms that the run defense is better and the front 7 are performing well as a group.
  10. Had to look just to make sure it wasn't a safety. Zee B at 1 and Pee B tied for 8.
  11. I think Palmer may have hit the performance wall and that may set them back toward the bottom of the playoff contenders.
  12. Just imagine what could happen if we have a good front office that picks a non-retread coach. Whaley has lived this in Pittsburgh, he needs to get the Pegulas on board or get out.
  13. I forget the details, but Ben was not happy losing Arians so there was a touch of drama around all that. If you have some time: Opinion about the Arians-Haley move https://thetartan.org/2012/2/13/sports/commentary2 Some analysis of Ben under different OC's http://steelcurtainrising.com/2016/03/steelers-todd-haley-vs-bruce-arians-ben-roethlisberger-passing-statistics-performance-sacks-interceptions-whisenhunt.html/
  14. Todd Haley is the reason Big Ben is as healthy as he is. Ben was getting killed trying to extend plays with Arians. Haley came in and made Ben dump the ball to the back instead of running around. Arians was not committed to the run and the Rooney's wanted to get back to the running game hence the change.
  15. Play with the bull and you're going to get the Mike Leach for head coach!
  16. He needs a gm. He should have realized that before he signed for all the money.
  17. Tyrod is in his second year as a starter. He was given more responsibilities this year including more reads, plays etc. It is part of the normal process of a developing qb and happens across the league. I know we haven't had a talented enough guy to develop in a long while (maybe fergy?) but it is expected. Hopefully by the end of the year he will get enough reps to be more comfortable in the offense as it is this year. That said, we should see steady improvement from him this year.
  18. I'd just like to say thanks for that. Here's to a drunk booty call Thursday night.
