I would hazard a guess that NC might still be here if they had gone needs with the Youboty/Simpson picks last year. I hope they sign an older cb in FA, we need someone in the secondary that can help all the young players. Preferably someone who has experience in this defense and is good enough to compete for a starting job. I'm thinking they could also pull the trigger on L Brown in the first round if he can play RT. If that happens you'll definitely see robert royal catch some balls this year.

I can't tell you what team sees a player as a can't miss, but you have to look at what Stl and to a lesser degree Car need. I think if Quinn falls someone could try for him to keep him away from Car but would offer low with the hopes that StL would deal. If someone likes a CB or a DE that falls they could try and keep that player from Stl. The others are Okoye and Willis that I think both Car and Stl could take. Of course if the latter two were passed on this board would implode under the pressure.

Lynch could be a far better back than Willis and in 2008 he'll be hitting his stride after getting 30% of the 2007 carries. If he is a bust, you have another chance at the draft before you really need a starter. The third could net you a decent player that will contribute in the 08-11 seasons. The big unknown for me is what they think of the players that could be available at 12. If the need players are gone, who do you take? Maybe Lynch is rated the best player available and you take him irregardless of Mcgahee's status? So get the high third for WM and move on. As far as progressing, this team will progress with or without Willis. Sure you'd like to see him help, but say he does become a key component of the offense and we lean on him during the year. What about JP? I would rather see JP lead the team in their progression at this point than a lame duck running back. I think it will do more for the Bills in 2008 if JP works on being the go to guy in 2007. I just want first downs out of WM to keep drives alive.

I think you do a draft day trade, maybe even in the first. Move Willis for a high third (at least) and move rb up as a need player, probably using your first. If they get another pick in that third round they could leverage that to get a guy they want by moving up/into the second round. So far they've been pretty good picking talent, so you may as well load up the gun. Just a thought. I think the only way you don't move him given a decent (high third) offer is if you think you're Super bowl bound or you can sign him. I don't think either will happen. And I don't see him carrying the load because Marv has already said there will be somone else in the backfield. I don't think Marv & co want to sign him anyway, because something would have been done by now especially if you only have a limited amount of money. I think this offense needs a guy that can block, catch and run and Willis is proven under multiple coaches he isn't that guy. Good running back, just not quite what we're looking for. I haven't heard anything about Green Bay being interested. It seems they need a rb and could be a suitor. Anyone have a reason why not?

The two things I took away from the press conference on Feb 16th was that Marv didn't like the OL and LB play. Looks like the OL was addressed. That leaves LB and it seems like he is the logical pick although I wouldn't be disappointed with an OLB, WR or CB. I hope we trade down this year because we could use another first day pick. With the activity this year Marv & co are saying we'll deal. Hopefully they'll leave enough doubt in other GM's minds that someone will not take a chance and trade up. I think the conversion to their flavor of the cover 2 will be almost complete this year.

Ummm...I think a good right guard would have gotten us into the playoffs this year. A problem with this defense (tampa 2) is they wear down toward the end of the game if they've been pounded on. That means you have to be ahead in the fourth quarter and you do that by passing and defending the pass. You get some yards with the running game, but you can't get into a 13-10 game and expect to win most of the time. So whatever it takes for Losman to get out of the three step offense will be good. How many of those rushing yards against occurred in the 4th quarter with the Bills down? Put some more points on the board and the rush defense will magically get better. A guard will help you get first downs and that will help. But we need help at the skill positions as well. Upgrading more than one position on the lines with a 1st round draft pick/expensive free agent has a better chance of keeping us out of the playoffs. See Min this year, nice lines, great run defense - done for the season.

Who's money was being offered? Do you think that was TD's call all the way, or was RW capping him? TD did some bad work in player acquisitions but you can't lay the blame totally on him for PW.

We had a lot of picks in the last 5 years that amounted to nothing, don't pick on the oline. So far this year, I think Marv's draft has exceeded each of those prior drafts. If young guys don't know the system they aren't going to play. Coaches would rather have someone who doesn't match up physically than someone who misses assignments. Or say if you're Willis and you don't block well you're not going to see much time on third down. Although they're trying it with him this year. Too big of a risk for sack/fumble or other bad things, man. While the lines need to be good, they aren't the end all be all. See the Vikings this year. Nice lines, not a good record. I do think Stienbach would be a great pickup because of his versitility, his talent and he fits a need. We would pay dearly for him though, but probably worth it. Considering we just got three DT's this year, I think a pass rushing DE to help the young secondary is in order. Classic Tampa 2 end, Simeon Rice type. I don't know where he comes from, but there could be a good one in the first round. My other thought for a 1st round pick is a wr. I think everyone agreed in the preseason that we had a starter and a bunch of number three's. A threat on the other side would help the offense more than an OL, assuming we got Stienbach. Imagine if Evans becomes your number two wr. Somebody should be able to chuck the ball downfield near one of those two guys. I don't think Posluzsny is the correct type of linebacker for the defense and we don't have a big enough hole at LB to fill with a 1st round MLB. MAYBE he'll be there, someone will want him and we'll trade down and pick up some more picks. Maybe. We won't take a safety, that's for sure.

How about you take a billion a year or so off the TV deals and just lower the ridiculous amount of money the owners and players are paid? What are the chances of that happening? If the NFL had it's fans in mind that's exactly what it should do. That's what any business should do, let alone a business that basically has a monoply. Sometimes I wish there was a way to get people together and pressure the NFL to do the right thing, but there's no vehicle to do that. I guess in a few decades they will be so full of themselves (see MLB) they'll just start to fade away. It's the American way. As for a new stadium for the Bills, taxpayers won't stop that from happening. Pittsburgher's voted down using taxpayer money to fund a stadium. Still happened. And still happened with tax money. A perfectly good stadium that still had the original purchase price owed on it (after 30 years) was blown up because it was "only" about $100 million more to build a whole new stadium rather than upgrade it. The owners will "prove" the value to whatever politicians will listen, talk about how they need to do what's best for the franchise and there will be a new stadium. I feel better now. Now that I'm a homeowner/growing up, election time gets me all fired up. Something about people wasting all my hard earned money. I'm very anti-incumbent this year.

I agree with what you're thinking, dump Gore and pick up TO. You don't have another WR whose a threat to score TD's regularly. I get tired of the "you have to have two great rb's" all the time. There's only so many, and you're lucky to have one. It comes down to how different will your other rb's will be from gore vs the diff of To and one of your other wr's. TO could be a top receiver and you will not be able to say that about any of your secondary rb's. You are looking for more of a leg up anywhere on your roster, wr's included. You've got to believe TO will give you a bigger point differential over Driver/Williams than gore over brown/taylor.

Now you're talkin' CRAZY!!! I like the points. Usually BB gameplans a team to make them play "left-handed". I think he will have trouble putting his game plan together because he won't have a ton of info regarding the blocking schemes and tendencies of the Bills offense because this mix of coaches is new. If the Bills come out strong and can move the ball they can keep it close. Plus picking up Seau and plugging him right in seems to be a reach. Not to mention scrambling for Gabriel and plugging him right in also. JP just needs to stay away from bad turnovers, run for a few first downs and take what they give him.

I don't really think of it in an angry way, and I'm not saying the Bills aren't terrible. I would look for something like even though the Bills have decent skill position players and a defense that was down last year the Jets have done better in the draft and their defense is improved enough to where they will win more games than the Bills. I guess that's a tough thing to do. As a fan I don't mind being told the Bills will suck this year. Chances are they will. I still don't like it, especially when it comes from guys like Glazer who ride the wave of popular sentiment. They are what they are though, and if they get a piece info that helps me win my fantasy week or league that's great. I just don't look for team analysis from those guys. I prefer to read someone like Gil Brandt and take what I can from him. And no, he's not dead on. Every year is a new year and what happened during the last 6 or 8 or whatever years ago doesn't matter. Ask Brett Favre about that. That's one great thing about football, just about everyone has a chance.

I don't know when they recorded that show, but I saw it last week. Unfortunately for our senses they put him on a show where he has to provide something more than "I heard so and so is..". He's just a info slut (like Clayton etc.) and doesn't have much capacity for analysis. So he gets his rocks off a few times a year by sharing his opinion and he puts together something to piss somebody off. Whatever. Hines Ward had the same surgery in 2002 and missed a week or so. From what I understand it didn't burst and even Hines was saying he should be back week 2 or 3. Something about going in with a scope. You're looking at matchups until one of your qb's separates (if he does). So Chi @ GB or Phi @ Hou? In 2005 receiving D rankings by yardage (per nfl.com): Chi #5 at 196.7 ypg Hou #24 at 232.9 ypg Hou has changed their D for the better, but that may not make it great in the first week. I would lean toward home field and Favre. Pick up Driver if he's out there, and watch for G Jennings early in the year.

Holy Cardinals Batman!!! You will go as the cardinals go, that's for sure. I don't know what the other teams look like, but you have top ranked players at every position. I would feel good about that team if I were you. You even have the requisite "top rb's" that so many people love to have. I've been doing this for a few years and one thing I've learned is that I never make fun of someone's team. This is a lot more luck than people like to admit, and if you get Ari to play well and your team stays healthy you can win your league. I don't do the defensive side of the ball so I'll let someone else do that. Good luck!
