Thanks, probably a pipe dream though.

Signing Green, I don't know if Nix thinks we need two tackles, esp if he likes Merideth and Bell I like the idea of a guard instead of center because I assume Wood can move over there if we have another decent guard. I'm also in the mindset we don't need a DE or ILB with the Edwards/Davis signings. I like OLB as a higher need because we have a bunch of guys who may be able to do it but probably not. In using your simulator, I went with: OT P1 - Hopefully one will be there WRP P2 - We have two openings, kinda targeting D Thomas OG P3 - give Wood time to get back DT34, OLB P4 - Hopefully hit on these guys QB, RBF, TE, ILB, WRF P6 - to get best value in later rounds Everything else at 9 Came out with this by unchecking the lockouts/grabs and didn't add any myself 1 9 Buffalo Trent Williams OT Oklahoma 2 41 Buffalo Demaryius Thomas WRP Georgia Tech 3 72 Buffalo Jon Asamoah OG Illinois 4 107 Buffalo Brandon Lang OLB34 Troy 5 140 Buffalo Jeff Owens DT34 Georgia 6 178 Buffalo LeGarrette Blount RBF Oregon 6 192 Buffalo Andrew Quarless TE Penn State 7 209 Buffalo Jevan Snead QB Mississippi 7 216 Buffalo Dexter Davis OLB34 Arizona State Probably will change when you update the rankings, but for me this looks good at least positionally. Don't follow college football closely enough to like/dislike the guys in the later rounds. The simulator is fun to play with. I used to want a LT, but.....

I'm hoping for someone at #9 that we can sign to a second contract and feel good about it. Preferably on the offensive side of the ball. -
Instead of Trading Down, Trade Up
4BillsintheBurgh replied to symbiant's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I wouldn't mind seeing Lynch/Whitner help us secure someone in the bottom of the first/top of the second, but that draft pick better be a good player if you're going to give someone else up. -
If it's Spiller at 9...

+1 I think the concern will be for Chan/Buddy that if the player is not worthy of the selection (McCargo, Losman). And I think there will be more pressure from the media/fans if the position is not one of the highest perceived need. -
Hey, Let's Trade ___________________

No I'm not serious. Although at the time I think there were many who thought it was a wasted pick. Just like if an OT or QB isn't selected at #9 this year. -

How about Jairus Byrd? We wasted that pick last year on a non-need position, we can trade him for a first rounder and then get another player where we have a greater need! -

You can look up his posts and read for yourself. Click on members, then search for posts from nevergiveup. I recommend it! -
After watching the press conference Bradford gave at the combine (and is on bb.com), you can see why people think of him as a leader.

There are 5 positions on the offensive line
4BillsintheBurgh replied to Rob's House's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Considering the roster and depth, I am hoping we get an LT and a RG high in this draft. Wood can take his time coming back and when he does you can put him in at center. We have some depth at tackle and in the interior at that point. -

I admire your efforts here, but it has been determined there is no bright side. Repeatedly. And then once more. -
Cool article for you draftniks

Are we sure Bell can't be a good OLT?
4BillsintheBurgh replied to BobChalmers's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I guess I'm not ready to tie a players improvement to stats, especially from a year ago. He may never be a great tackle, but to be as sure as you are about him not being good is silly. -

4BillsintheBurgh replied to BobChalmers's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Looks to me like other than a horrible game against Cleveland, he was improving. That can happen when you have a young player who is thrust into the lineup. To think that last year's effort seals him into the worst tackle ever category is a bit short sighted. -
I'm going to say mainly because Al Saunders is not our offensice co-ordinator.

With Davis signing and possibly Edwards
4BillsintheBurgh replied to BeastMode54's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
How do you feel about their ability in coverage? To me, that is the biggest concern because 4-3 DE's really don't do that. Do we have a 3-4 olb that can cover? With Davis signing, does it make sense to move Mitchell out there (esp if Schoebel retires)? -

I think of it like a game of whack-a-mole. No matter what happens or how quickly you whack them, there's going to be another one popping up. -
WHEN THE HELL ARE WE GOING TO SIGN SOMEONE?
4BillsintheBurgh replied to BLZFAN4LIFE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
And I was wondering how this thread made it to 3 pages - but since I'm here I'll throw a post in the hopper. -
I don't know if I want a qb if it isn't one of bradford/claussen unless there is tremdous value in the pick. If we keep TE and Brohm that gives us two developmental guys already. I'd rather spend that pick on the DT given your list, but I'd really rather take the bpa on the offensive side.

Why are we keeping 4-3 players on our payroll?
4BillsintheBurgh replied to Billsfan=pain's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
+1 It's been said by various parts of OBD: We are going to build through the draft We are going to play to our players strengths We are not going to sign top tier fa's, we will re-sign our own quality players Seems like we're pretty much on target. Around Pittsburgh, the first day of free agency was pretty much a non event. I'm hoping for the same thing some day, for Buffalo. -
Buffalo Interested in WR Kelley Washington

I finally disagree with Nix
4BillsintheBurgh replied to DarthICE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I really find it odd that people think Marv did not have a rebuilding plan. Veteran linemen were brought in, some of our current linemen were signed to longer term deals. The deals for these people are coming due in a cascading manner so we don't have a ton of people to bring in at one time. I thought the plan itself was fine, the execution sucked. I understand there is going to be some overpaying, but there was (and is) too much for mediocre talent. The problem was the talent evaluation, not whether the talent came from the draft or FA. When you decide that McCargo can play in this league, you take Whitner because of the need and you spend the extra draft pick to get the DT. It's my opinion the Marv Levy era was more indicative of the talent evaluation going on at OBD than anything else, including Ralph. Marv let those people do their jobs, but unfortunately they were not very good at what they do. I look forward to Nix/Chan making the call on our qb because I have confidence they can rebuild this roster with their ability to make good personnel decisions and get the most out of those players. -
