I may have been wrong about McCaffrey

Very much worth the top 10 pick. Imagine what he would be doing if he played for the Patriots or Saints. -
EJ never had a fair shake in Buffalo. For being a 1st round pick, the team never gave him a chance to really develop. He should have been given 2+ years and more than 20 starts without having some veteran breathing down his neck. Orton was here to play, not develop EJ. But that is what dysfunctional, losing franchises do most of the time. Unfortunately for Bills fans and EJ that time has past. Let's hope the Bills learn from that and develop Josh Allen the right way with McDermott/Daboll and Beane.

Rex promised to win right away and the roster was built to win right away as soon as he arrived. He didn't win enough. McDermott promised to win long term and build the roster that way. Beane is building the roster that way but that also includes some days like yesterday. Have to remember that Rex and Whaley made roster decisions and gave contracts to players that ended up not performing. The last two seasons have been about McDermott and Beane unloading those contracts and working through the dead cap to restructure the roster. With that said, this has to be worse than anyone thought it would be.

A Quick Note About Levi Wallace.....

Was the best cover corner on Alabama for most of the season. Should have a good chance at nickel. -
A lot more running and downfield throws then. Lower percentage throws. A lot more QBs were below 60% then. Today, its hard to find a good starting NFL QB that had less than a 60% completion pct in college (M.Stafford, J.Cutler, T.Taylor). Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen will be fighting the percentages to be successful starting QBs in the NFL.

Only can trade up for Darnold or maybe Rosen if they love him and believe they can handle him. If not, just sit back and get a guy to lead the defense for the future at 12 like Vanderesch or R.Smith then M.Rudolph at 22. Should get some great value in the 2nd and 3rd rounds on OL and DL.

MJ Stewart - DB - UNC Avonte Maddox - CB - Pitt Colby Gossett - OG - App. State Chandon Sullivan - CB - Ga State Dee Delaney - CB - Miami (Citadel) Kentavius Street - DL -NCSU Skai Moore - LB - South Carolina Oren Burkes - LB - Vanderbilt Jamil Demby - OT - Maine The 2nd and 3rd rounds could have some really good players available for the Bills. Bilal Nichols - DL - Delaware Josey Jewell - LB - Iowa Dorance Armstrong - DE - Kansas Austin Corbett - OL - Nevada DJ Chark - WR - LSU Dante Pettis - WR - Washington BJ Hill - DT - NCSU Fred Warner - LB - BYU

The Falcons also took Favre in the 2nd round to develop. Relatively low risk. Trading up for QB project like Allen would be very risky with the cost involved.

If can trade up and get Darnold then get it done. If not then sit with picks and take L.Vanderesch at 12 and M.Rudolph at 22. Get interior offensive (Ragnow, Corbett, J.Daniels, T.Crosby) and defensive linemen (B.Hill, B.Nichols, J.Jones, D.Senat) in the 2nd-3rd rounds along with some other good players (R.Penny, D.Chark, D.Armstrong, F.Warner, R.Freeman) that can develop into quality starters in the future.

CB Vontae Davis Has Been Medically Cleared

Would be a great pick up at the right price. -
Freeman would be a great fit in the middle rounds. Other guys that might fit: Josh Adams (ND) N.Chubb (UGA) D.Richard (Ariz St) R.Penny (SDSU) It looks like Michel will be gone in the first 50 picks and that's too high for the Bills to select a RB this draft.
-
Zay Jones will be a good player and Benjamin is solid. Need to upgrade the deep speed threat (D.Thompson) and returner (B.Tate) probably. A few guys who could do both and be upgrades in the draft probably... C.Kirk (Texas A&M) DJ Chark (LSU) D.Pettis (Washington) D.Fountain (N.Iowa) B.Pringle (KSU)
-
Have to expect the Bills to draft 5-6 players who will contribute a lot as rookies and build the backbone of the Bills franchise going forward. Particularly a new MLB that fits and will be the leader of defense, a power RB, interior defensive and offensive linemen and potentially a pass rushing DE. If they get what they want in the draft then guys like Cordy Glenn or Jerry Hughes could be traded or let go because they haven't produced up to their cap hit probably and aren't getting any younger. Don't know if they need to cut Incognito because he will be in a contract year, made the pro bowl and has no obvious replacement now. It would be shocking if the Bills were just blown up.

In-Depth Breakdown of Lamar Jackson by Eliot Crist
sjjr replied to DCOrange's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Think the analysis is right on about him. Obviously he's a great runner (looks 4.4 to me with ability to make defenders miss) and the best runner at QB to come out since Vick. Big arm, pocket awareness and ability to extend plays are obvious. His accuracy from the pocket and under pressure is inconsistent and not good enough now. The thing is, he plays his best football when it matters most and is clearly a competitor that wants to improve. His accuracy issues seem correctable and he's shown improvement. He could be a great developmental prospect if drafted into the right situation. Not sure if he's want Daboll and McDermott want or not. Have to see how he does at the combine and in workouts.
