  1. In related news, Claussen is spending the day lobbying the NCAA to change their eligibility rules to allow underclassmen to withdraw their names from the NFL draft (as is the case for the NBA draft) . . . Sorry, couldn't resist.
  2. Don't disagree in the slightest. Fantasizing is pretty much all we've been able to do between January and August for the past 10 years.
  3. Not that it means anything, but Mike Florio made a reference to Johnson on PFT in his story announcing the Gailey hire. It sounded like he was pulling it out of nowhere, but it's not the first time I've seen it. That said, I agree that it has no chance in hell of happening.
  4. Bring bank Ronnie Jones!!!! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ronnie_Jones Ronnie Joe Jones (October 17, 1955(1955-10-17) in Dumas, Texas) is an American football coach. Though currently an assistant at Martin High School in Arlington, Texas, Jones has served on coaching staffs at numerous colleges and NFL teams. (SNIP)
  5. Good for him. I always liked Wade and thnk he's a good coach. Hindsight being 20/20, we would have been way better off keeping him -- and I say that as someone who was calling for his head after his comments before that Bills-Colts MNF game in 2000.
  6. So the Bills have a 1 in 190,000,000 chance of winning next year?
  7. Are you saying that the nine-yard catch that he had during garbage time of the Atlanta game wasn't enough for you?
  8. Contrast that with the ad that CBS rejected during the Super Bowl in 2005 from the United Church of Christ that promoted that organization's inclusion of gays, racial minorities and people with disabilities. CBS put out a statement staying that it was "too controversial" and "unacceptable for broadcast." Not sure how they justify taking the $3 million in this case.
  9. How pissed should Mike Price and George O'Leary be if this stuff turns out to be true and Kiffin gets to keep his job?
  10. And just about everywhere else too.
  11. Was it ever confirmed that Baltimore actually offered anything for him? I agree that it was probably a mistake not to get a pick for him, but I wasn't ever convinced that they had the choice. Also, if they tag him and can't trade him, they are stuck with a guy with a one-year salary that will be around $10 million.
  12. A member of the San Francisco city council tried this a few years ago for George W. Bush. Sounds almost identical.
  13. I say get them both -- for the sheer entertainment value. Either that, or re-sign TO and then sign Jeff Garcia sometime later on.
  14. TO came to Buffalo because it was clear to him and Drew Rosenhaus that he wasn't going to get any other offers (despite the fact that he was signed fairly soon after getting cut by Dallas). If someone else shows an interest this time, he's gone. In fact, he may still be gone depending on how Nix and Gailey feel about him.
  15. If he takes us to the promised land, I'll call him whatever the hell he wants us to call him.
  16. Putting aside the irony of the fact that the ad touts his mother's choice, there's no chance in hell that CBS runs this ad during the Super Bowl
  17. Amen. Anyone who became a Bills fan thinking that it would always be good times had no business ever being a Bills fan.
  18. He won 80 regular season games in 9 years. To his credit, he didn't add "and mathematical genius" to his list of self-proclaimed accomplishments.
  19. The fact that he felt the need to recite his resume like that is exactly the reason why he never got a call.
  20. +1 The other thing to remember is that the current regime in GB was able to evaluate Aaron Rodgers based entirely on his performance in practice and during pre-season games, and what they saw gave them enough confidence to take a huge gamble by getting rid of Favre and handing the keys to Rodgers. Had they been wrong, Ted Thompson and Mike McCarthy would have been run out of town. Maybe Brohm never got a chance to play with GB, but I wouldn't put a lot of faith in the idea that they whiffed on the guy.
  21. That's kind of a problem.
  22. If anything, we'll have the opposite problem in that a few of the assistants will be people who have been in the league forever, with some having "retired" at least once before.
  23. Doubt it's been decided yet. Unfortunately, this isn't like Shanahan going to the Redskins, where you can be pretty sure that he has been watching film on that team for months. Gailey really is just getting up to speed, and since all of the assistants are long gone, he's going to have to do it himself to start.
  24. Nope. The only thing I would disagree with is your use of the word "fan." Someone who is a real fan sticks through the good times and the bad times -- no matter how long or frustrating the latter may be. And anyone who became a Bills fan thinking that things would always be good shouldn't have ever been a fan at all.
  25. It would be great, but it's not going to happen. I'm seeing Morgan as the guy whose stock rises dramatically between now and April. My guess is that he doesn't last beyond the fifth pick.
