  1. I'm not blasting him at all. I'm glad he's helping. my comment was referring to the comments before that were embarrassed because they think the rest of the country will laugh at us. I'm saying who gives a crap what anybody else thinks and it shouldn't be an issue anyway because nobody gives a crap either way in the rest of the country
  2. seriously - no one thinks about Upstate New York outside of Upstate New York. That's the main problem.
  3. the guys fighting for us - quit b****ing. Who gives a crap what the rest of the country thinks.
  4. Carr was definitely better than Leaf - otherwise though I totally agree. People have seemed to give him a lot of the benefit of the doubt where they give other guys all kinds of grief (JP for instance). I think it may stem from those first few years when his O-line was so terrible that they were setting records for sacks allowed. He also was never really hyped up like some of these guys are. Alex Smith kind of has the same thing going in SF (though he's actually playing pretty well) - a 1st overall qb that people don't really talk about. And again, wow, the '02 draft with Carr and Harrington ended up being a bomb. Out of the top 5 picks - 4 busts - Carr, Harrington, Mike Williams, and Ryan Simms.
  5. honestly he's one of the top fb's in the game. He's a good receiver as well as a devastating blocker. I would love to have him on board. I didn't know he was a free agent.
  6. only two years older. No thank you.
  7. Fair enough. If we don't do squat in FA then it will be pretty frustrating. But just cause we don't go after one of the top available guys doesn't mean that we aren't doing anything if we're bringing in guys that they really believe are going to help the team.
  8. if all it takes is to please the fan base is to sign someone big in the offseason then maybe we were better off under Donahoe. It's not a matter of doing damage to the salary cap - its about avoiding overspending on that particular player and instead leaving yourself the flexibility to make moves that you think would better help the team.
  9. It's not a question of whether you can afford to keep the player, its whether spending such a large amount on that specific player is in the interest of the team over the next 3 to 5 seasons. Clements is great, but he's not going to be worth the contract he's going to get, especially in a cover-2 defense that doesn't emphasize "shut down" corners. Fletcher is another story - he's on the wrong side of 30 and I wonder if they think he might be part of the problem against the run. I can only speculate about that, but I would rather not lose him.
  10. so they have us drafting 2 inside linebackers? Hmm. Also I think Pitcock is really overrated and wouldn't want him on my team for a 2nd rounder.
  11. I just don't trust drafting a 250 lb rb. Its just rare that those kind of guys are either able to stay healthy, or be able to make the plays they did in college.
  12. initially I was all for Jarrett - but even if we go WR I don't think we'll go for Jarrett. He's a primadonna and a selfish player - pretty much the polar opposite of Evans. Marv likes team-first guys more than anything else. I hope we get that big WR in FA; otherwise there may be a great one still on the board in the 2nd or 3rd. Also we do have McCargo and the one or two games where he actually saw extensive action, I was pretty impressed considering he was supposed to be a guy that would take some time to really contribute. But I still think we could use a force on the inside like Branch or Okoye.
  13. Tripplett came because he wasn't being used much in Indy and the Bills said he'd be their starter.
  14. I think he said at one point last summer that it would actually be against the financial interest of the team to sell the rights because of the way that kind of money is shared through the league. I'm not quite sure this is true though. Also if we really wanted to sell the rights of the stadium the company does not need to be local - the publicity is national
  15. he represented a lot of Bills fans by going after Gilbride. I can't believe that POS is actually an O-coordinator again.
  16. not according to virtually all of the reports that I've read. General consensus was that he was by far the best linebacker all week.
  17. others, if not you, mentioned Traylor, Pat Williams, Sam Adams ect. as the type of player
  18. the logic is really missing in this thread. You want better D-lineman, but not through the draft because we draft bad lineman. Then you cite Bannan, Anderson, and Larsen - none of who were highly rated coming out of college (with Anderson the most touted gotten in the 3rd round) The way to acquire talent in this league is the draft and undrafted free agents. Relying on the FA market is a mistake. Plus the guys you want us to get are all big fat slobs who are over the hill and don't fit our scheme (besides Pat Williams I would say)
  19. He looks plenty fast to me from the Senior Bowl highlights.
  20. bout time - the old jumbotron really made the Ralph look out of date
  21. probably quite a few players on both rosters don't really deserve to be on it. To really count as having made the team it really is limited to when you are named to it initially, not who plays the actual game since so many drop out and you get the 5th or 6th best guy in the conference at a position on the team. That's almost just above average for a starter, not excellent.
  22. Okoye - you don't pass on a Tommie Harris if you play the Tampa 2. If he's gone, then take best player available. Take a corner in round 2 if we're relying on him to replace Clements - the top ones in the draft aren't all that different from the ones that will be available later.
