  1. yep the 4th ndirish - convert him to wideout? just because he can run? watch his release - he can run a pro offense with that delivery.
  2. He's got a lightning fast delivery, is unflappable in the pocket, has 4.5 speed and is Marshawn Lynch's cousin. Even if Losman is around next year, he could be great depth next year and for a a few years to come and, you never know, could be a star. Definitely needs to get a little bigger though. these guys do a really nice job breaking down small school players' game - they're very high on him http://www.onnetworks.com/videos/draftguys...sh-johnson---qb
  3. you really expect people to get behind a draft that doesn't have Owen Schmitt being selected?
  4. i keep seeing this referenced but have never heard it outside of Bills fan forums. I just did a google search, and the top result for - Owen Schmitt concussions - was Bills fan sites.
  5. I like this one a lot. Harvey, Hardy, Schmitt, Lichtensteiger - I like all of these, 4th round is a little high for a FB, but whatever Cottam, Hubbard and Ikegwuonu are all pretty risky picks though. Cottam couldn't stay healthy in college and has almost no track record (21 receptions in his entire college career). Hubbard has all the physical tools, but has atrocious hands and not great route running skills. I don't know how he'd contribute in the near future - it probably won't be on offense though. And Ikegwuonu is also risky obviously with the serious injury. Good value but your not getting anything from him for a year at least .
  6. well if he's that slow he'll be there in the 2nd.
  7. from what I've read it just eliminates the minor infraction and will only be called when the facemask is actually pulled on
  8. yeah, I never knew that was a rule in the first place and have never seen that called, ever. I guess it was a fumble though if the qb touches the ball at all in a bad snap- which probably eliminates most of the times it has happened.
  9. bizarre. Also why would McShay not even mention that Carlson ran better at his pro day (in fact he ran the time at his pro day that McShay says he expected him to run at the combine and was disappointed he didn't).
  10. it would definitely be a bold move. And I wouldn't hate the move if the Bills had a solid plan to address the offense. 2 receivers and a TE need to be gotten from this draft. They have a better idea of who will be there in the 2nd. That will probably be the most important factor in how our draft shakes out.
  11. I used to be a big Harvey supporter at 11, but I just don't think it makes sense this year after the 3 FA additions to our defensive front-7 and no major additions to our offense and Price gone and Reed coming off a serious back injury. Those defensive additions, plus a healthy Denney, should vastly improve the effectiveness of our DEs and our D in general. We still need another guy to rotate in with Schobel as the pass rush specialist and Harvey would fit that bill, but I don't think at 11 it makes sense because we have bigger needs now than that. Also I have some concerns about Harvey's athleticism. His measurables are very mediocre for a highly touted defensive end. You can get situational pass rushers much later in the draft at a much more reasonable price.
  12. of course the value of a player is partially dictated by the position they play, what kind of athlete they are, the scarcity of that kind of athleticism or skill set. Of course taking a fullback in the 1st 3 rounds would be a huge reach because a FB isn't sought after and veterans are always available. They aren't the elite athletes in terms of speed, agility, ect. that make-up the vast majority of the early rounds. However wide receiver is totally a position that demands elite athleticism and taking a WR in the second who your scouts think is a pro bowler is never a reach. If they thought he was a marginal prospect, then take him where he deserves to be taken. the experts you're citing aren't scouts - they are experts for television and paid to prognosticate as a product - they don't know nearly as much as the real scouts do if the real scouts think that Kelly isn't worth taking at 11 and that we can trade back or take one in the 2nd, then fine. But these guys you're referring to aren't real scouts.
  13. how does a team know that they're not high on other draft boards? If scouts knew Colston would be as good as he is, he would have been picked in the 2nd because teams want good players. I don't think any team would pass up drafting a player they really thought was that good on the assumption that no one else thinks he's that good so he'll be around way later - that would be irresponsible. I think it just shows that the draft is a crapshoot and most teams try to play it as safe as they can.
  14. he's the great unknown in this draft because no one really knows the state of his knees, and he hasn't worked out yet at all. So we don't really know how fast he is, or if he's got chronic knee problems.
  15. McKinney clearly was the best of the bunch I listed, but he has been not much more than a slightly above average starter and a major off field headache. If they could pick again, I doubt they'd pick him.
  16. the thing is the stats show that Butler was our best run blocking lineman. I think a mid rounder is the way to go to address depth rather than deal with another big O-line contract for a guy that might not be able to crack the starting line.
  17. I'd be against it. He should be good, but we're kind of set on the O-line, at least as far as guards and tackles go. Also, there's no such thing as a can't miss o-lineman- see Robert Gallery, Mike Williams, Bryant McKinney, Vernon Carey
  18. this has been pointed out several times but Colston ran a 4.5, not a 4.7.
  19. I totally agree - TE is a lesser need than a legit starting receiver to start opposite Evans - I'd prefer not to have a midget, but if they really think a littler guy is by far the best receiver, then I'm on board . I really think it'll be WR in the 1st, TE in the 2nd or 3rd, and probably another wideout in the 4th-6th range.
  20. I don't think this has been beaten to death at all. People on this board are constantly pushing the idea that a big receiver is a good receiver. It just doesn't work that way in the NFL. Look at Jacksonville's receivers - they draft high to get big receivers and they all stink - Reggie Williams, Matt Jones - both 1st rounders. receivers are virtually useless if they can't get open. If we had two players just like Lee Evans, I don't think there would be many people calling for more size in the receiving corps except for maybe a depth guy with size.
  21. LOL about Ellis and Wallace. Hard to take Cottam's ypc seriously when he only had 22 receptions his whole college career. The guy is all about his physical potential and it seems like he's got it all except the staying healthy part. I read some article about how the NFL scouts were getting frustrated scouting the TE's, and that there was a consensus that there were only about 4 or 5 good ones in the whole draft. Could mean that a decent prospect like Craig Stevens goes a lot higher than he probably normally would.
  22. I think you mean Robert Felton the guard from Arkansas rather than Jerome Felton the FB who's probably a 7th rounder. I agree about the draft situation - it really let's us have some insurance to grab a best player available in some good spots - though probably not the first. It'll give us a chance to address a position like interior line or fullback that might not otherwise have gotten attention in the mid rounds. I think we were already planning on going pass rusher in the 4th or 5th, and corner, WR, TE within the first 4. maybe not the right post to talk mock draft - but I know you always like to talk about picks... I love the first two picks (on the assumption Kelly is healthy and doesn't run a 4.7). I think we go WR in first, and best player on our board in the 2nd (the Drafttek thing really highlights how a lot of quality players will be there in the 2nd for us) I have doubts about Martellus Bennett for some reason. Lack of production, immaturity, seems like Marcedes Lewis to me. I'd rather have one of the other 3 - Davis, Carlson, or Keller. But think we go TE here in the 3rd. I like the Brian Johnson pick - after his pro day his stock has been soaring (4.6 speed, 274 lbs, dominated in college, though in a weak conference) but he'd still probably be there for us in the 4th. Like that pick a lot. I wonder if he can play any tight end? I don't like Wallace, but that late in the draft it's hard to object to giving the guy a shot. Dixon would be an intriguing addition. I'm starting to be a believer in the old advice that a team should try to draft a quarterback each year at some point. You never know if you're going to hit gold. And you're always refining and improving your quarterbacking options. Do you think we'd go SS? It seems like we have a glut of them and only one true FS in Simpson. Do you think Thomas DeCoud of Cal might be there at the end of the 4th? He seems to have all the skills, led his team in tackles, 4.5 speed, good size.
  23. are they playing east coast teams? if they're not, then it pretty much automatically would have been a better game to choose.
  24. well they need a west coast game for the late start, I bet they went with the matchup that had two teams in the more western timezones.
  25. it's disgusting how many Broncos games are on national television
