Jay Glazer has a ton of "buff news" on coach
Fewell733 replied to SuperBills12's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
that was the Gruden bowl. It was Callahan coaching Gruden's team, and Gruden coaching Dungy's team. -

it's really something. Drivers should be on the look out for people in Bills jerseys running out onto the I-90. -

uh, ok? he declined Seahawks too early in the game. Could be he's waiting for his season to be done. Or its possible he doesn't want to be a head coach. Given his fall from Chicago, it wouldn't be that surprising actually. Why does it feel like so many people on this board are just looking for an excuse to throw themselves into oncoming traffic? -
ESPN Insider- Top names linked to Buf Job

the article talks about Brian Schottenheimer, Ron Rivera, Jason Garrett in addition to Frazier. Mentions continued pursuit of Cowher. -
Who makes the call on the new coach?
Fewell733 replied to Niagara Bill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'd imagine that Nix and Brandon would work to come to a consensus (probably not too hard) and then, no matter what, would have to sell it to Ralph -
well, i think he could be a first rounder - in that someone will take him in the first round. that decision will probably be more about marketing than winning football games.
-
he never promised that. You just heard what you wanted to hear. He said the most important thing is a HC that is a teacher and that previous head coaching experience would be certainly preferred, but not determinative. most of those guys you listed are terrible or VERY retired.

Leslie Frazer "blew away" Nix in interview.
Fewell733 replied to lets_go_bills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
calling Billick a failure is dumb. I'd be happy to hire him. I'd also be ok with Frazier if he's honest about bringing in a serious offensive staff. -
i said this in the Frazier freak out zone already but I'll repeat it again: only 3 of the 12 playoff teams this year are coached by 2nd time around head coaches - and 2 of them are perennial playoff bust coaches Wade and Norv. the third is Bellichick who has a HOF QB, and he was a bust the first time round. so 9 of 12 playoff teams are headed by first hire head coaches. Yet you need prior Head Coaching experience to succeed in the NFL?

sorry re-tread was the only term I could think at the time to mean a non-first time head coach coaching the current team. my point is there isn't a lot of success with old head coaches starting again somewhere else. not saying I wouldn't take Cowher, I would - I'm just pointing out that most successful coaches are first time hires. So don't close the door on them just cause they're not Cowher. but I think a lot of people on this board are just eager to have a hissy fit meltdown -

when does a guy ever get hired who doesn't give an impressive interview? -

some people would basically only be happy with Cowher. It seems that the general league consensus is that he's the best HC/coordinator prospect out there with his temperament and his experience. How many of the 12 teams in the playoffs this season are coached by re-tread head coaches? 3 of 12. Wade, Norv, and Bellicheat. -
I wonder how attractive a job is Seattle? Great city, but geographically it's really far from everywhere but itself. East coasters may be less inclined to uproot and move 3,000 miles away for a job when they can take an hour flight to Buffalo from where they call home. Just a thought.

i'd take tim graham over Sully in a second. Tim Graham is an actual reporter, not just a professional grouch that writes repetitive mediocre rants about whatever he feels like.

Question For All of You
Fewell733 replied to Canadian Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
yeah. That definitely could have made him look a less explosive. Anyways, there's a long offseason to look at highlights and analyze measurables. -
I think they can basically keep it all under wraps. a few points: 1. with Fewell, officially interviewing him was something the team had promised him, and it was also a way to help him raise his profile in the league. It also fulfilled the Rooney rule, but that ended being moot anyway with Frazier. 2. With Frazier, I think it had to be an "official" interview because his team is still alive and league rules dictate a certain procedure in these circumstances. also keep in mind that the Redskins didn't have any kind of official interview with Shanahan until it was basically a foregone conclusion that he was the one being hired

2010 Buffalo Bills Offensive Starters
Fewell733 replied to Mooshocker's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
so, how do we get Bradford and Davis? Unless one of their draft stock falls or we do some serious trading around, they're both solidly in the first round. -
I'm pretty certain Campbell is a RFA. He's not going anywhere next season by most accounts in DC absent a lopsided trade offer. I think he's a decent QB and very tough. Protection was terrible for the Skins this year and he was taking a beating most weeks but hung in there. I really respect him a lot. I'd take Fasano in a heartbeat. He and Nelson would be a great pair.
-
with his arm somebody (cough, Oakland, cough) will take him by the end of the 2nd round. Teams usually waste late 1st round picks on players like Snead - wouldn't be surprised to see it again.

Question For All of You
Fewell733 replied to Canadian Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
ok, that's what I figured. If he's a situational player while still in college, he's not getting picked very high. 2nd round at best. That said, we should consider him in the 2nd round, lol. -
If we need an "established" QB.....
Fewell733 replied to filthymcnasty08's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'd do that trade. I don't think Philly would. McNabb is fragile and Kolb is their future starting soon.
