  1. didn't they throw the flag long after the play. Could it have been even penalized? Either way, they my have called it right, but its clearly a hole in the rule that they didn't consider.
  2. I find it very troubling that the bigger profile teams tend to get the breaks like that from the refs. That was inexplicable. The officiating so far today has been atrocious and an absolute embarrassment.
  3. Chris Brown today: http://blogs.buffalobills.com/2008/10/11/e...alez-and-bills/ ESPN News report on Gonzalez and Bills Chris Brown Posted October 11th, 2008 Tags: Tony Gonzalez Though there are no links to any written stories on their website, ESPN News (TV) is reporting that the Bills are one of several teams “known to have inquired about” Kansas City TE Tony Gonzalez. According to ESPN News the asking price is starting at a 1st round pick “and change.” The network did not attribute their report to any of their NFL beat reporters. Gonzalez has been reportedly interested in making a move to a contending team as the Chiefs are in full blown rebuilding mode. The perennial Pro Bowl tight end is signed through 2011 at reasonable base salaries for a player of his caliber ($1M in ‘08, $4M in ‘09, $4.5M in ‘10, $5.75M in ‘11), though $17M of his most recent contract in guaranteed and could include some of the base salaries listed above. A first-round pick and then some is a lot to surrender, but Gonzalez has been one of the most durable tight ends in the league and at 32 likely has at least two more productive seasons in him. We’ll do our best to keep you updated on the possibility of Gonzalez being moved by the Chiefs prior to the Tuesday trade deadline. The Eagles are another team that has been mentioned as a possible landing spot for Gonzalez as well as the Giants. Personally I wouldn't consider giving up a first for Gonzalez. If he was 28, maybe, if our pick was towards the end of the round.
  4. does anyone know why this information is not widely available? It seems like the best source is friggin Madden franchise mode, and that's pathetic.
  5. i don't remember the failure to sign Pat Williams as very popular. At most people were willing to give Donahoe the benefit of the doubt, but he certainly proved not to deserve it.
  6. Garcia is a very good qb. However, I'm pretty sure he'd only be interested in going to a team where he's the starter.
  7. Royal is a decent TE but he makes dumb plays too often. He's still the best we have.
  8. well in Madden I bring the linebacker assigned to the running back off weakside edge and force the back to either stay in and try and block or try and beat me on a quick route before I wipe out the qb. But that's madden.
  9. just can't rely on a front 4 alone to generate pressure unless you have either absolutely extraordinary talent or a blitz game that the line has to respect, and you can fool them a bit. If you vanilla rush 4, the 5 to 6 guys blocking will pick them up nearly every time save the very rare coverage sack.
  10. This is the defensive approach that gets us killed against multiple wide receiver sets. Fewell seems unwilling to assert his defense on an offense and make them adjust. We have got to be willing to bring linebackers in on the rush against a spread or else we will get picked apart. Maybe if we were against a rookie QB that makes unforced errors in reads we might take the ball away, but against vets like Warner or Brady we get picked apart because we're giving up the short stuff and not bringing pressure. We need to have the guts to take some defensive chances, even when they spread us out.
  11. JP played his typical game. That's why he's on the bench. He didn't lose the game though. Perry Fewell did.
  12. I endured the highs and lows of the Bledsoe era there. A lot of bittersweet memories. Mostly bitter. I thought their wings were pretty good and beer was cheap and most of all I had no other convenient options to see the Bills.
  13. totally agree. IMO, Steve Young is the best, and most honest, football analyst on television. Virtually all of them just peddle catch phrases and ride whatever team has hype at the moment.
  14. I used to go to the HoeBowl bowling alley bar back in college. they show all the games. its like a mile north of the campus on Taft Avenue. It can get pretty wild there though, especially if the Giants or Cowboys are playing.
  15. that's an outrageously stupid thing for anybody that's supposed to be an expert in football to say. here was something Polian said a couple days ago about NFL pregame shows: "Polian also doesn’t think much of the various NFL pregame shows. Speaking regarding some of his observations from the bye week, which gave him a chance to watch football on television, Polian had this to say: “Don’t forget I said earlier that they were the team that no one was talking about but that everybody would be soon. It’s amazing how little tape and how little preparation the people that speak on the pre-game shows really do. That’s shocking when you hear some of the statements that are made, particularly from ex-players. You don’t get an accurate picture in virtually any situation." http://www.profootballtalk.com/2008/10/01/...of-vince-young/
  16. that would be an extraordinary pay raise for Greer. I think CB's have among the highest tag numbers out of any position. I think it would be like 9 mill a year? I love Greer, but I don't think any corner is worth that especially when you seemingly have good depth at the position.
  17. Thanks, added in Fowler. The guys that stand out to try and re-sign to me are Greer (may be tough), Wilson (should be easy), Chambers (should be easy), not sure about Preston he seems to have gained some trust of the coaching staff and would probably be easy to re-sign. Fowler, to me, is the big mystery.
  18. true, we are more set a CB with Youboty and McKelvin, on the other hand I really don't like the fact that we'd have invested 4 years in the guy and he's finally a player and then we let him get away.
  19. wasn't sure that Greer was - he seems like a must re-sign. Crowell is obviously gone.
  20. obviously Evans was, but who else are we potentially going to be losing this offseason?
  21. corners 6'0 or taller that are actually quick enough to play in the NFL are extremely rare.
