  1. wow the FB just beat Mitchell around the edge. that's just sad.
  2. you generally can't just pick up manhole covers. I'm guessing eastern Europe/Russia. that's some crazy $&!^
  3. i got a bledsoe jersey as a gift after I had reached the point where I never wanted him to play for the Bills again. I'm not sure I ever wore it.
  4. The problem is JP can't do west coast offenses. Chris Brown even said as much in his blog about where JP might end up next year.
  5. in all seriousness I really will be a little surprised if JP is on an NFL roster next year. What team would sign a veteran who they know is junk instead of a rookie or 2nd year guy that might not turn out to be? Even guys like Leftwich barely found a job, and he's a lot better than Losman. The only team that comes to mind that wouldn't terribly surprise is the Raiders. They love big armed, athletic quarterbacks that don't know what they're doing - see Aaron Brooks, Daunte Culpepper, Jamarcus Russell and Andrew Walter.
  6. It would be a better argument to make if we hadn't already sunk our season over the course of the previous month and half.
  7. JP didn't put it in a spot for him to be able to make a play.
  8. see as much as I know I should defer, I always take the ball when i get the chance. I like being able to be ahead from the start and dictate the tempo of the game.
  9. Ramsey isn't the kind of QB we need at backup. I think we need another veteran receiver in the mix that might give a little more stability at the position, need not be a starter. I think Jenkins won't be on the team since we have a lot of special teams guys and not a lot of true receivers with any experience after Reed and Evans.
  10. spot on. Here in DC there is a lot of complaints about the Redskins and Jim Zorn. Their problems actually mirror our own in many ways: First year coordinator on offense, move the ball but have trouble scoring, young promising quarterback, very young receivers, tough division, and a defense that is good but not good enough to steal victories when the offense is really struggling.
  11. the man himself. He was right about Schulz though. At the time he would have been a rookie or 2nd year player and was only a 7th round draft pick.
  12. I recall going there as a kid once, i was about 11 or 12 and Walt Corey was getting his hair cut. I think he may have even had the swizzle stick in his mouth while getting his hair cut. He talked about how a young safety, Kurt Schulz was really impressing. That said it was the most painful hair cut of my life. the barber really seemed to enjoy pulling on my hair as hard as possible while cutting it. I never went back.
  13. also he didn't graduate with a baloney degree like many athletes, he majored in economics.
  14. It's basically like reading daily temper-tantrums on the wall. One thing is clear though, firing head coaches every 2 to 3 years is the recipe for not having a playoff team for another decade. Another thing is clear, if not for a couple of missed, field goals that should have been made, we are 8-6 and not having these conversations. - I've been on the wall since '01 or '02 under different names and passwords long lost to time.
  15. Sullivan and the paper are out of control when it comes to negativity and soon they'll probably be out of business.
  16. as sad as it is, i like the dolphins more than the Jets and Pats and hope they win the division (assuming the miraculous sequence of events doesn't occur that would let us win it) and that the Jets and Pats don't even get a wild card. I don't care much else what happens.
  17. I don't think radically changing the defense is really necessary. I do think radically changing the offense is necessary. Jauron is a defensive coach and our problems are mainly on offense. Either Jauron needs to hire a great offensive mind that has full control over the offense and bring in a new system that is both proven and flexible enough to adjust to the talent on the field, or he should be fired too. Offenses in the NFL can't afford to be so conservative or incompetent unless you have an all-time great defense. I really think our offensive personnel is ideal for a West Coast offensive system.
  18. anyways, Quinn released a statement denying it. http://www.wgr550.com/Quinn--Sabres-not-for-sale/3453048
  19. excellent post, I agree completely. One crystal clear example of how the talent excuse is overplayed is San Diego - the media for years has said that they are the most talented team in the league - this year they stink. The players didn't become worse. Other teams adjust to what you do, so you better too or you'll lose and be out of a job. See also Green Bay and Jacksonville. Some teams truly have major talent problems in certain areas - the Lions' secondary is atrocious, the Broncos' defensive line is embarrassing, Seattle has no wide receivers. We have no talent problem comparable to those.
  20. so true. he's one of our few veterans on offense and he plays like he's a rookie - penalties, drops, fumbles.
  21. JP was probably the biggest reason we lost. sorry. I used to really like him but he's a bum. He'll be out of the league next year cause no team wants a known bum when they can have a mid or late round rookie who might not be. That said I'm getting pretty sick of how this team doesn't seem prepared to play, particularly on the offensive side of the ball. That is on the coaches.
  22. I'm not sure all the people who've said it, but I've heard it a lot over the years from ex-coaches, GMs, etc. I happen to believe it's true, since a defense is always, to some degree, reactive, while and offense is a prepared attack, requiring precision timing, and understanding where the strengths and weakness of a defense are. Those things are about preparation rather than talent. The one big caveat is QB play - if you have incompetence at that position that can limit an offense a lot, but it should be able to be managed since a lot of qbs in this league are pretty bad.
