  1. the talk of "reaches" from anyone other than professional scouts or GMs is pure hubris. That said I haven't been overly impressed with him as a passrusher in the handful of highlights I've seen.
  2. even a new mock has us taking an OT!! Well it's written in stone for sure now...
  3. my problem with answering the poll is what is equal value? It would have to more than just fill the hole left in his absence. I am not comfortable using the 11th pick on a LT and expecting him to start effectively.
  4. no, RT is a far more important position than LG. I'd rather put Chambers at LG. Plus Walker's like 6'8. That's awfully tall for an interior lineman.
  5. yes. I think we might even carry 7 if we deem Jenkins a better special teamer than Wendling (who basically never sees the field on defense anyway). Really though what happens is someone gets injured in the preseason and they get popped on IR.
  6. there was an article by Ross Tucker about a year back where he stated that RG was actually a more important position than LG. So by that logic our better player at guard should be playing on the right side. i even found the link http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2008/writ...rankings/1.html
  7. I have found memories of the Tutan Reyes era actually, but he was no Bennie Anderson...
  8. at the very least we need a guard and a guard/center. FA's still out there: Mike Goff Pete Kendall Kendall Simmons Milford Brown Adrian Jones Jeremy Bridges Adam Goldberg Seth McKinney Matt Lehr Jason Fabini Eric Ghiaciuc - center Tutan Reyes Jason Whittle Duke Preston and some others anybody have any feel for these guys?
  9. no charges at this point, including DUI. not clear at this point that there was any fault whatsoever.
  10. in '07 he was considered a rising star. he had a disastrous '08, but a lot of the fault was with the Lions who kept jerking him around. He's on career rehabilitation mode right now.
  11. you need to actually cite examples. As far as I know there were no serious receiving tight ends available in FA. What good veteran FAs have signed with other teams recently? The only example I can think of is the fading Mike Peterson.
  12. 4 lineman worked out - the top guard in the draft - Duke Robinson, Loadholt - a tackle, a center - Cooper, and a later round guard - Walker. http://blogs.nfl.com/2009/03/10/oklahomas-...eral-standouts/ Four offensive linemen who have NFL potential worked out in Norman. Phil Loadholt (6-7 7/8, 332 pounds), Duke Robinson (6-5 1/4, 330 pounds), Jon Cooper (6-2 1/8, 290 pounds) and Brandon Walker (6-2 7/8, 306 pounds) drew three offensive line coaches to the pro day — Detroit’s Pat Morris, Buffalo’s Sean Kugler and Miami’s Dave DeGuglielmo. Vikings head coach Brad Childress and vice president of player personnel Rick Spielman also were there. Loadholt looked very good in his positional drills. His workout-drill numbers were as follows: 5.45 seconds in the 40-yard dash twice, a 28 1/2-inch vertical jump, a 8-9 broad jump, a 4.77-second short shuttle, a 8.14-second three-cone drill and 26 bench-press repetitions (though it should be taken into account that it is harder for a tall player with long arms to throw up the bar). Robinson stood on his 40 times from the combine, posted a 31 1/2-inch vertical, a 8-3 broad jump and a 5.0-second short shuttle, and put up 20 bench-press reps. Cooper, who is a very good player despite his slender frame (for a center), ran a 5.0 flat and 5.03 in the 40, had a 31 1/2-inch vertical jump, an 8-9 broad jump, a 4.50-second short shuttle and a 7.43-second three-cone drill, and posted 32 bench-press lifts. Walker had a 34 1/2-inch vertical jump and a 9-2 broad jump, and he ran a 5.18-second 40. He also had a 4.88-second short shuttle and an 8.20-second three-cone drill, and he stood on his bench-press reps from the combine.
  13. I would also think we'd be looking at some interior offensive lineman. Simmons is still out there somewhere.
  14. I meant welcome back as a season ticket holder. Never meant to question your status as a fan. nevertheless
  15. earlier I said (though the reality of your commute is pretty impressive) now I say welcome back!
  16. gotta build the pass rush with the front 7. Forget tight end, who do you take off the field?
  17. sounds like WGR doesn't have the rights to broadcast it. they'll be reporting on it when it's over.
  18. even if you hate T.O., it's only a 1 year deal. It should be VERY interesting.
  19. it might make sense for a year, 2 at absolute most. I remain very skeptical. It would make for a fun season though.
  20. first off there have been some conflicting accounts of what he's said happened - not surprising considering what he's gone through. second off, I would take his estimation of how much time had elapsed as likely to be extremely inaccurate considering how long he was in the water and ridiculous stress of the situation. Also, its not like you're in a swimming pool, there are big swells and if you swim even a little distance from the boat you may quickly lose sight of it and it will drift quickly. If you leave the boat's side there is a good chance you won't be able to correct your mistake. how he stayed strong is pretty remarkable. Many people often drink sea water because they get so thirsty and lose their minds.
