  1. I'm not sure what scouting reports you're reading but they don't mesh at all with the many that I've read. For what little that is worth. Virtually all the reports I've read have him as an "exceptional" pass blocker. Also, he weighs a solid 50 lbs less than Mike Williams and stayed an extra year in school to refine his game rather than cash out last year. I see no record of laziness, of not taking care of his body. He seems to have done everything in his power to be as good a player as he can be up to this point.
  2. would be interesting move. All the know-it-all draft prognosticators would call it unnecessary since they have Oher going in the mid first anyway. And then it would be labeled a reach at 8 and a needless waste of 4th round pick. Of course their opinion doesn't actually mean anything.
  3. yeah, not much insight by Wilson unless he's talking about the first round, and really, if he's talking about at 11. if 11, that means almost certainly one of these 6 guys (who are basically the usual suspects around here): Orakpo, Brown, Maybin, Ayers, Matthews, or Cushing. Am I missing someone?
  4. don't forget that free speech goes both ways. someone being an a-hole using their freedom of speech can rightly be called an a-hole by someone by way of their freedom of speech. Just cause he has a right to be an a-hole doesn't mean he's not an a-hole.
  5. depends how low you are. I've only sat in the corners once, and I was maybe ten rows up. If you are too low it can be very hard to see the action at the other end of the field. It is awesome though when the action is right in front of you.
  6. examples? Just to be totally clear, a big part of my argument is that we need better front 7 talent and the place to get it is at 11, not 28.
  7. fair points, but at 11 we're already looking at the 3rd or 4th best tackle in the draft and our defensive front seven is in clear need of more elite talent. Also the Ravens defense had a lot more to do with their success than their offense did.
  8. If we want to emulate the most successful teams over the past decade, we should be thinking defensive front 7 with the first pick we have in the draft. Elite defensive talent just isn't likely to be available later in the draft - especially difference making lineman and freak linebackers (you can get pluggers later). We have drafted none of our front 7 in the first round - our only 1st rounder is Stroud, who we traded for. This doesn't mean we don't draft O-Line. The best teams use low first round picks and 2nd and 3rd rounders as the foundation of their O-line - as well as steals later in the draft. The Patriots are the most obvious example: Defensive front 7: Seymour - 1st Round, 6th pick overall Warren - 1st Round, 13th pick overall Wilfork - 1st Round, 21st pick overall Mayo - 1st Round, 10th pick overall Offensive Line: Mankins - 1st Round, 32nd overall Kaczur - 3rd Rounder Light - 2nd Rounder Koppen - 5th Rounder I don't have all day to go through them all but: Pittsburgh - No first round offensive lineman, Three 1st round defensive front seven Colts - No first round offensive lineman, One 1st round defensive front seven (though their defense hasn't been anything special during their run of success with Manning) Giants - No first round offensive lineman. One 1st round defensive front seven (hit gold with Tuck and Umenyiora outside first round, a rare feat) These 4 teams make up 7 of the last 8 superbowl champions, plus 2 additional appearances in the past 9. The point is you don't need to draft an elite tackle high in the first round to have a very good NFL offensive line, but you do need to draft them in the first few rounds. The same is not as easily said on the other side of the ball.
  9. the only problem with Roscoe is his salary. that and that he's too small to play receiver in the NFL. It's not that he doesn't know where to go or doesn't grasp the offense, it's that quarterbacks literally cannot see him through the offensive and defensive linemen. His value is pretty much on plays designed to go right to him in the flat, reverses, end-arounds, and as a punt returner. The only reason we want to trade him though is that he's paid too much just for those services.
  10. he's a reliable lousy running back who was once considered pretty good. No way would the Bills think of him as Freddy's long term replacement. he is an insurance back, and that's it.
  11. against it. there have been reports that every single team that has a top ten pick has been trying to trade out of it because the value is basically flat with the first 20 prospects. Who knows how true that report is, but it doesn't seem far fetched considering the state of rookie contracts.
  12. can use the 28 and something else to trade up and grab a LT in the low 20s or high teens. Generally lots of teams want to trade down and are eager for dancing partners.
  13. he had all day to throw and still threw it into triple coverage with the game in the balance. It's his fault that he can't read defenses.
  14. well he was their starting MLB until he got hurt in week 9.
  15. we need the Bruce type, not the Phil Hansen type. We kept aiming for the Hansen type in Kelsay and Denney and you get players that are ok against the run but can't rush the passer. Hansen couldn't really rush the passer either, but he was a 3-4 end and we had Bruce and then Wiley, plus rush linebackers, to do that. The problem is now that without a healthy Schobel we don't have anybody that we know can rush the passer (we don't know about Ellis). And Schobel is now comfortably into his 30s and has a bad foot.
  16. I actually don't mind this draft. I like Chung and think we could use him in our defense. I don't know anything about the running back. I'd be pretty shocked by Tyson Jackson, but think he's a fine player that we could find good use for.
  17. Kelsay is not a speed rusher and Schobel is actually good against the run. At this point I don't think we have any idea what Ellis is. 6'4 290 is DT size, not DE size. The only good pass rusher near that weight in the league might be Mario Williams - and he is 3 inches taller and a freak of nature. I think we could use a Tyson Jackson, I just can't see us picking him at 11 and I don't think he fills our need for a pass rushing end at all.
  18. why is that? what kind of credibility do you deem necessary to discuss something so basic?
  19. a depressed loony can do a lot more damage with easy access to assault rifles and handguns than he can without them. I don't think there should be any dispute about that. simple reality. Seriously, who are the brainwashed: those that favor rational gun laws, or those that want to believe it's still the wild west?
  20. here's a question: is Scheffler even a better run blocker than Josh Reed (who is one of the best run blocking receivers in the game)? If he's not, or even if it's close, what's the advantage of him being on the field over Reed?
  21. I'd maybe do it for a 3rd. No way a 2nd.
