  1. interesting. certainly within the realm of possibility. People of late have been saying Loadholt is going to get picked in the first round (or very high second). I think he's comparable to Britton, but maybe a little ess suited to LT. I would not hate this draft.
  2. size and athletic ability- almost. Talent - not even close.
  3. I think Andre Smith is a good deal better than Oher and I think his problems in the draft process had more to do with a horrific agent than anything else. However, I'm not sure I want to be sacrificing very much to move up to get him since there seems to be around a 50/50 shot he'll be there at 11 anyway.
  4. his top 100 draftboard is statistically the best on the web year in and out - Mayock's was extremely good last year as well actually. Gosselin's mock drafts are also typically good... but it's much more useful to see where around people go then who they go to exactly. Even still, 8 out of 31 is probably better than most - which shows you how much mock drafts are worth.
  5. Apparently Everette Brown may be had in the 2nd round... haven't had time to look through it all yet. But this is as close to gospel truth as us non-professionals will get before the actual draft. http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dw...100.7dd05b.html
  6. not sure how reliable PFW is really. I'm waiting on Gosselin's annual top 100 prospects (which it's rumored he gets help from actual NFL personnel people). There is very little rationale that I can see that would have a sloppy and lazy MLB like Maualuga rated over an athlete, and workaholic like Everette Brown who plays a much more demanding position. Also that ranking for Raji seems to fly in the face of what a lot of NFL scouts are saying. I can only guess that it would have only to do with the false rumors of his drug testing.
  7. I have a hard time taking seriously mock drafts that involve trade downs (not that mock drafts really should be taken seriously to start with). That said, I really like the players you've selected. I think Barwin at #28 is a very serious possibility. I think Wood would be a great pick in the 2nd (he might not even last till then). Pettigrew would be great at the spot we traded down to. Chip Vaughn looks like a beast in the highlights I've seen. Urbick I'm not sure about - not a good athlete really, and I think the 3rd round is too high to take a guy like him. I think we probably need to get a tackle somewhere in the first 3 rounds. Some possibilities in the 3rd might be Gerald Cadogan from Penn State, Fenuki Tupou from Oregon (more likely a RT or guard), or a real freak athlete like Xavier Fulton out of Illinois, who (kind of like Bell) is still learning the position, but his potential is unlimited.
  8. no way are they seriously expecting a 1 for Dorsey. He hasn't shown anything yet and doesn't fit their defense now.
  9. Orakpo has a few warts - Texas laziness, might be injury prone, few/no pass rush moves. I think the laziness might be overstated since he couldn't be in as phenomenal condition as he is if he didn't work his a$s off.
  10. agreed, having only 9 sacks is pretty terrible. I'm sure he's better than that number, but still....
  11. well Whitner basically been named the starting FS. Jenkins will be the new Strong Safety
  12. haha, just giving you a hard time. I think it's valuable to look at, and a good post. I wonder how much different eras effect the numbers. note - man, college stats are hard to find. I was just trying to quickly look up some prominent current DEs college sack totals and had no success at all.
  13. I think Ko can still be a good player. Moving Whitner to FS though means he isn't in the plans anymore. If we can deal him, good for us.
  14. Wood won't be there in the 3rd I don't think. Otherwise I really like the first 3 rounds and am thinking along very similar lines.
  15. Green Bay Press did a very good breakdown of the top 10 inside lineman prospects compiling conversations with NFL scouts and front office people. One or more of these guys may be a Bill by the end of the weekend. http://www.greenbaypressgazette.com/articl.../304200091/1058 some highlights: - Wood is the top Center with Mack second. - Wood is versatile enough to play Guard in the NFL - One scout says Mack is a much better player than Unger - bigger, stronger, more physical, tougher - Unger will go too high and isn't as athletic as scouts had thought before looking at the tape (though still clearly the 3rd best center prospect) - It's a pretty weak year for guards. - Duke Robinson, the top guard, might not go till the 3rd round because of his work ethic despite having the physical talent of a first rounder. - Levitre is unspectacular but gets the job done - Herman Johnson, though he is a giant, he doesn't dominate and struggles when things get fast
  16. I don't think so. We actually have 3 picks in the first 42. That is extremely good. Trading future 1's never seems to be a good idea. Imagine how ticked you'll be next year if we don't have a first round pick to be talking about (unless that pick was going to be #32)
  17. it's funny because even despite this report, and me not being a proponent of drafting Ayers at 11, I still have a funny feeling that we'll be picking him cause he seems like the kind of player that we pick. Also, yeah, who knows how much stuff is accurate at this point in the game. However I do think it would be odd for Brandt to be so specifically wrong on something like this.
  18. some VERY interesting and surprising insights from Gil Brandt: http://www.nydailynews.com/blogs/giants/20...m-gil-bran.html LSU DE Tyson Jackson will go in the Top 5. Not might. Will. This qualified as the biggest shocker, to me, since almost every mock draft I looked at pegged Jackson to be a mid- to late first-rounder at best. I thought the Top 5 was pretty locked in, too. But, of course, I shouldn’t have doubted Mr. Brandt. I asked around after the show to see if I could confirm it, and sure enough one NFL source I know did tell me he’s heard the Kansas City Chiefs might take Jackson at No. 3, or trade down and take him a few picks later. • The Seattle Seahawks, at No. 4, will likely select either Texas Tech WR Michael Crabtree or USC QB Mark Sanchez. • Crabtree will fall somewhere between Picks 4 and 10, though given the variables it was impossible to guess exactly where. • The Oakland Raiders will take a receiver at No. 7 (and it’s hard to imagine them passing on Crabtree if he’s available, so I suppose we can narrow down Crabtree’s placement to 4-7). • There will be no defensive backs taken in the Top 10. • The Saints, at No. 14, are looking for a big cornerback, and Ohio State’s Malcolm Jenkins is a good bet to be their guy. • The New England Patriots, at No. 23 will take a linebacker. • Oklahoma T Phil Loadholt (6-7, 332) will go in the first round of the draft. His teammate, G Duke Robinson (6-5, 330, and the top-rated guard on most boards), will not. • Cincinnati DE Connor Barwin didn’t begin this process as a first-rounder, but he has managed to sneak himself into the bottom of the first round. • The Buffalo Bills are targeting a DE with the 11th pick (and not Tennessee DE Robert Ayers, by the way). They are also pretty high on Oklahoma State TE Brandon Pettigrew, but aren’t likely to take him unless they trade down a few spots. (Important note: Things have obviously changed a little since then, since the Bills acquired a second first-round pick from Philadelphia in the Jason Peters trade. Now the Bills have both the 11th and 28th pick. Of course, they also have an obvious need for a tackle).
  19. Connor Barwin at 28 would probably be considered a slight reach, Duke Robinson at #42 - not sure if a reach or not, but he's sort of fallen under the radar for a guy that people touted as the clear cut top guard. How about Raji at 11 and Loadholt or Beatty in the 3rd.
  20. some highlights. WARNING...they are SICK. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vyX5mfb-eaA...feature=related only knock against him is that he's only 6'1. He sure doesn't look short on tape though.
