  1. do the individual teams control their merchandise? I kind of figured there was some league office that dictated all that kind of stuff.
  2. no, just asking generally towards those that were dissapointed that we didn't draft a qb late to be a 3rd stringer.
  3. what qbs would you have taken in the late rounds? are they any better than the guys we brought in as Undrafted FA's and try-out guys? If we took one of them in the 7th round would this change your opinion?
  4. probably practice squad. give him a year to learn and get stronger. he can always be brought up in a pinch. This year Demetrius Bell gets his chance as a regular on the active roster.
  5. remember also how bad our line became without Butler. I'm not too worried about tackle. Walker and Butler are both very focused guys who clearly care a lot about what they're doing. I think there are obviously some concerns about Walker handling speed rushers - but I think that can be dealt with through game planning. It would make me feel even better if Walker comes into training camp 25 lbs lighter. I'm not holding my breath on that one though.
  6. Reed has to be a hall of famer. Leading receiver on a perennial playoff team for almost a decade. i don't see how it's rationally debatable really.
  7. don't get me wrong, I don't think he's a "good" quarterback. At the end of the year, in the game or two I saw, he looked serviceable, as opposed to the walking disaster I watched earlier in the season.
  8. Fitzpatrick got radically better as last season progressed. The first or second game he started he looked like the worst starting qb i'd ever seen. When I watched the Bengals again toward the end of the season I was very surprised to see that he seemed like a totally different quarterback - very competent, comfortable in the offense, accurate. Apparently the Harvard guy learns quickly. I think we're in a better place this year at QB than last. Losman could provide a spark off the bench with a bomb or two- but its become pretty clear that he's not a guy you can really win with in the league as a starter. Fitz, I think, can actually follow what an offense is trying to do. I think they call that "execution."
  9. I'm a little concerned about it. I wish we had at least one giant fat guy in the mix to put in there when we need a giant fat guy to clog things up.
  10. Burn After Reading is a brilliant film, imo. A lot of people hate it though. My least favorite movies: - I despised Troy for butchering the material. - Waterworld is terrible (The Postman I think is viewed as so bad mainly because of the existence of the movie Waterworld); - Star Wars Episode II was so terrible that I felt the only honorable thing George Lucas could do after it was commit harakiri before he inflicted any more horror upon mankind. - Beverly Hills Ninja, terrible. - Sex in the City - made me wish we we were a country of collectivist farmers without personal property.
  11. those rankings are very similar to other notable rankings: Gosselin's top 100 compiled from talking with league scouts: Maybin - #1 DE Wood - #2 interior offensive (guards or centers) Jairus Byrd - #6 CB - no ranking of him as a safety Andy Levitre - #4 interior offensive lineman (guards or centers) Shawn Nelson - #3 Tight End
  12. that would be even better. I think though they'll be hesitant to start him out as a LT, even if it is his more natural position (like we did with Peters)
  13. The Madden franchise hasn't really improved much in almost 10 years. Though apparently this year they are actually trying to fix a lot of the problems this year that have plagued the game year after year without correction. I played some of the Sega 2k football and I see where you're coming from, but I have to say that I did not find the gameplay better than Madden (though it looked better than madden and more true to football) - it was way too easy. However, the consumer is worse for there not being any competition in the arena.
  14. whether Levitre starts or not may have more to do with Demetrius Bell at tackle than Levitre at guard. If Bell isn't up to it, Butler goes to RT, Levitre goes to RG. If Bell is up to it, Bell at RT, Butler at RG. That's my prediction anyway. And perhaps the same goes with Chambers.
  15. that's what? PD what? I think I'd want a linebacker. I kind of feel that we'll be able to make due with the tackles we have - and the ones that will be available are going to be available for a good reason.
  16. I'm not surprised by this. Reading what scouts were saying about him he sounded like the kind of player the Patriots love to draft at the end of the first or in the 2nd round. I'm glad we got him.
  17. it's a fool's errand to try and guess at this point. In the late rounds, need isn't trying to be addressed. They're just trying to find players. I was hoping for Follett, but there is probably a reason no one is picking him.
  18. He arguably fills a need as either a linebacker or safety - or both. Was an absolute stud for USC and seemingly the only knock against him was a poor 40 time. He's the kind of guy you want on the field and might be a good value in the 5th or 6th round. the question is do would it be too weird to draft a player who's older brother is already on the team and plays a similar position? What happens if one of them gets cut, or gets a raw deal. It could sour the other on the team.
  19. Maybin really seems like he has his act together. We could do much worse than taking Maybin at #11.
  20. Cushing is not like Poz. He is bigger and a better athlete. He played a lot of DE at USC as well as linebacker. Poz is, and always has been, purely a linebacker. Laurinaitis is a lot more like Poz, and he will probably slip into the 2nd round.
  21. reading his blog of late, it's extremely clear that he doesn't have any idea how the NFL draft really operates. He's basically a gossip blogger. NFL execs and scouts don't judge players by the same nonsense Florio does. Example - he insinuates that Raji is a lazy bum and teams will question drafting him because he said he was bored when he worked at K-Mart when he was 16! Unless you are looking for a reason to dump on someone, all that tells me is that Raji has at least half a brain. I would question the sanity of someone that found a job like that as a 16 year old an enthralling experience.
  22. it's not that crazy at all if you look at the recent, and most accurate, prospect rankings http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dw...100.7dd05b.html Brown has many doubters due to his height and FSU's system Sintim at 42 doesn't even seem that controversial Robinson has a very bad rap as being lazy
  23. one interesting answer was that he doesn't think we'll trade up to get Andre Smith. Doesn't think the top-10 rookie contracts are worth the headache.
