  1. i love how when we sack someone many of or "fans" here think it shouldn't count
  2. wish we'd rush more than 3 or 4 on 3rd downs. bad tackling by corners there. questionable penalty call on whitner. they usually let much worse go.
  3. Two of his better games came against San Diego and Jacksonville last year. I know they weren't top defenses last year, but they were far from the worst.
  4. that's true, but I don't see us getting swept by the Jets or the Dolphins this year. I think they are both likely to take a step back.
  5. first, who said anything about championships? second, teams often emerge from mediocrity to come close, if not win it all. The Cardinals were a play or two away from a title just last year. To deny this is to ignore much of the history of the NFL. You seem to believe you know the future. I don't claim to. From an objective standpoint I struggle to see how the team is worse than last year. And last year we had 7 wins. As for optimism being something akin to not facing "reality" - I would say that pessimism is false strength. You want to cling to some kind of certainty about the unknowable and it's probably gotten too painful for you to even hope for the best. And I'm not a newbie. I've been a fan since my first conscious memories of football (mid 80s) and have been on this board for 8 years under various forgotten names and passwords.
  6. Raji's performance against us has been overhyped in the extreme. Not saying he wasn't very impressive as a rookie but watch his highlights of the game on nfl.com - he gets praised by the broadcasters as unstoppable even on a play where he gets taken to the ground by Eric Wood.
  7. I think you define truth as endless pessimism. what did you think our record would be last year out of curiosity?
  8. 11-5 here we come! It really is the worst magazine I've ever received through the mail. But it's actually so bad and so repeatedly wrong that it does serve as a reverse barometer to the truth. So be heartened, we're a shoe-in for a wildcard spot
  9. who is Gary Burns? riots? was he smoking crack while writing this?
  10. looking at googlemaps, there are other houses ridiculously close to that backyard hideout. like dozens of feet away. It's amazing how little we seem to know about what's going on even just feet beyond our own back yard.
  11. well we went 7-9 without one last year. I guess I think we do have an o-line. Screens, draws and even runs to the outside weren't an option last year because our interior line was so immobile. The Pats won 10 games last year basically only running screens, draws, quick slants and the occasional out pattern to Moss. We ran basically none of those plays last year. Cassel was also the most sacked qb in the league. My concern lies more with our ability to gameplan, especially on offense. It was an act of mercy that Turk didn't get fired for his performance last year and his inability to adapt as defenses caught on. This year they say things should be different, but we'll see. At least now he will be able to call basic pro level offensive plays.
  12. http://deadspin.com/5347189/this-is-why-nf...g?autoplay=true I was shocked by how the coaches, including Marvin Lewis himself, openly mocked their injured players into returning to the field before they're ready. That's not toughness, that's stupidity. Why, other than a pay check, would those guys want to win for those coaches?
  13. Josh Johnson (maybe) in TB and Jackson in MN. Looks like we're interested in qbs that can run. Fitzpatrick isn't a bad scrambler but he's not exactly a threat you'd gameplan around.
  14. I signed up for it last week. Can already watch any game in entirety from last year from any team. No preseason games though despite misleading links on NFL.com. While I will be able to watch most if not all the Bills games in real time anyway, $40 seemed like a deal to be able to watch portions of them over again and takes some of the pressure off making sure I get to the bar on time. Plus I can watch any other game that I may have missed. Also saves time trying to find certain highlights. It just seems like a great deal for the fan that is serious about watching the team, and the NFL in general, closely.
  15. I think you've got great depth but you're missing the stud or two that would make it a truly great team overall. I think you're especially weak at WR - lots of question marks with your top guys at that position. really like Jackson and Breaston (especially if you get points for return yards) I think Donald Brown is gonna be great this year.
  16. if he doesn't check down you end up with a coverage sack or forcing a throw that you shouldn't make. You end up with turnovers and losses. See last Saturday's game.
  17. I just hope that the players who deserve to make the team are the ones that actually make it.
  18. just watched Raji's highlights on NFL.com. the commentators were over the top in praising him. He looked fine, got some good push including a brutal pancake of Hangartner (which didn't affect the play at all) but not warranting the praise he was receiving at all. Probably the most heinous example was when he was up against Wood and Wood stuffed him and put him to the ground, yet the broadcasters deemed it a total "mismatch" in Raji's favor. Uh, ok?
  19. great spot, need to remember to hit it up next time I'm in town
