  1. the QB or the LT. We're not in as bad shape at DT with Williams healthy
  2. Trent's a lot better than Brady Quinn and he's still not good enough. That shows how bad Brady Quinn is.
  3. there's only one sliver of hope - and that's if Trent comes back from the concussion as a new, and different, man. If you can't score you can only hope to eek out victories and, unless you have an all time great defense, you can only hope to be around .500 at the end of the season.
  4. if Rivers had a conventional release he'd remind a lot more of Kelly. I don't understand how it's possible to throw the ball the way he does.
  5. they don't have many superstars on defense - they play good football. The real reason they have statistically one of the best defenses is because they have a great offense. If you switched the Bills D with the Indy D, I think Indy would be just as successful.
  6. I don't think adding Vick would preclude drafting a QB this year. We need a lot more competition at the position - I think that much is clear.
  7. the reason is simple. They don't trust rookies because they give up big plays. We're a "bend but don't break team" - and that's really the only reason we've even been competitive in these games since we can't score. A rookie takes one false step on a Chris Johnson run and its 6 points for the Titans. And we have no offense to counter.
  8. I don't have a problem with Vick. My only concern is his skills and whether he's serious about working hard to become a great quarterback. At the very least these rumors should inspire Trent to throw the ball 10+ yards down the field more than a couple times a game.
  9. if you have a bad secondary you get blown out in NFL
  10. he never did quite manage to get those diapers off
  11. always like Fletcher. Still a heck of a player.
  12. this is tricky since it depends on what kind of coaches you bring in and also who's is under contract for how long. 7 isn't a big enough number since we've got guys we just drafted who are under contracts for 4 to 5 more seasons who will mostly be around (especially the guys in the secondary). Not counting the guys we drafted the last two years who I would automatically keep I'd try and hold together: Stroud, Kyle Williams, Poz, Whitner, McGee, Schobel (still our only DE worth much of anything and makes the mediocre guys behind him better), and Lee Evans
  13. I still don't understand this logic - if we win 11 games we're not a joke (not that that's going to happen).
  14. fire John Guy, head of pro scouting - he's at the head of most of the personnel blunders in recent Bills history.
  15. our special teams have been far less disastrous since he's been on the bench. And he does nothing on offense. I'm happy with Jackson back there on punts and Steve Johnson and Josh Reed being on the field more.
  16. the QB and the protection is hugely important but scheme is a big deal on the offensive side. I think coaching is clearly an issue on offense and the evidence is this - we have had offensive success in the first weeks of the last 2 seasons only to see it evaporate as defenses adjust. Good coaching can adapt to defensive adjustments - ours hasn't for 2 consecutive years. I think in the early part of the decade we actually did have better offensive coaches but were totally undermined by very poor QB play with Johnson, Bledsoe, and Losman coupled with an offensive line problem that was not addressed for many years in a row.
  17. missing Schobel and Kyle Williams destroyed our defense in the 2nd half. It's clear Maybin needs an offseason of NFL strength and conditioning before he'll be much of anything - at least he got to have some time on the field though. He could be a freak though - his arms look like they go past his knees.
  18. there's no reason to demonize him. He does most of the things that good head coaches do - he gets the players to play hard for him, there is very little internal strife, and he doesn't put his foot in his mouth. He's not a great game coach - not as bad as many but not good enough at time management or advocating for the players to the refs. However his fatal flaw remains the same as it's always been for him - he doesn't know offense and doesn't pick people in charge that are good enough for the pro game. Because of this he'll be gone at the end of the year.
  19. anyone know what the point of a team is if it has no offense?
  20. people like going to football games. Show me a team that doesn't sell out on hope. Stupid thread.
  21. yuck. 2 terrible calls by officials which both hurt us, though not enough to change the outcome - TO was plainly interfered with before half time in the end zone and the guy dove at Fitzpatrick's knee on the interception. Brady gets that call 100 out of 100 plays.
  22. man the SEC has really shown itself to be pretty crooked this year. It's obvious how they protect Florida and Alabama basically at any cost. Now the coaches who point out how horrific the calls have been will face suspension from the conference. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=4608317 frankly I think the conference is very overrated this year. Nobody has an offense. I think Florida and Bama would get rolled by USC or Oregon.
  23. I think it's definitely very different than an NFL team playing a college team. A very big percentage of the UFL squads were good enough to be on NFL rosters as little as last year and many were competing for spots and would probably be in the NFL if the NFL had 60 man rosters rather than 53. They're coached by relatively successful former NFL coaches so they're not get blown out of the water based on scheme.
  24. if we keep winning it'll be hard to say that we're awful. First we gotta keep winning.
