Left Buffalo over 20 years ago, been in Chicago burbs since. Run a couple businesses. One is more passive. The risk and hard work have been worth it but we grind it out every month. Married over 30 years to a wonderful Buffalo girl, grown kids, 1 dog. Beginning to get serious about retirement. Can taste it. That's really driving me now, that and a life long passion for a great competitive sport (still competing) which I've never mentioned here. Huge passion for this though it's a big commitment. Still love Buffalo. Enjoy hanging out here a bit to get my mind away from day to day grind and I truly like people. Politically I'm simply looking for our governments to perform responsibly and much much better than they do. Washington is a horrible mess. Hard to see how it gets fixed. The ingrained culture of party and power first is more destructive than ever. There are several big important issues that the majority of people (if informed) likely agree on IMO. Pols should too. The media and pols divide us and deliberately leave these things unsolved. It's a total dereliction of their duty. Somehow this to change.

The Next Pandemic: SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19
keepthefaith replied to Hedge's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
They did seem to catch Trump early. Other than the 1 drug (which might be a big difference maker), the rest is now ordinary treatment for Covid available to anyone. From local nurse friend who is in a leadership nursing position in local hospital, they have learned a lot about treating this over the past 6 months and are getting much better outcomes now compared with earlier. -
Additional information regarding the actions taken

I've never manged an online community as you've been doing for years, so I can't say I've walked in your shoes. I've looked at all of your linked posts and would say that if you wanted to review months and years of posts here, you'd find a lot of personal attacks of varying degrees of distaste posted by a number of people. I've dished out a few myself and have taken some too. That's not a complaint, just an observation. You likely have no interest in devoting the time look further, nor should you but IMO the linked posts are not more egregious than so many others. Maybe the frequency of attacks from a single poster that had been warned previously is the difference. What makes this forum great to me is also what makes it a management challenge. It's a wild west wide open spaces not too many rules environment. Where to draw the line between acceptable freedom of expression and what's over the line is not an exact science. People that post here come from a variety of backgrounds and professions and life experiences (often with Buffalo origin in common) which makes for interesting exchanges. More is better IMO. More posters that is. More points of view. As for problem resolution and disciplinary action, If 2 people in particular are having a spat in PPP, maybe it would be best to simply tell them "you two work it out or I will." Let them have that chance. That can result in a better outcome than sending one or both packing. Maybe you did that. On the other hand if a single poster is mucking things up on a broader basis, that may have to be dealt with differently. Quite possibly with everything else going on in your life you simply don't need the headaches that come with refereeing this. Understandable. Hopefully there will be a little more civility and substance within PPP going forward but fewer posters is not a plus in my view. Overall you should know that your contribution to the Bills community providing the entire TBD platform (including PPP and other subforums) is greatly appreciated by many many people and I hope at the very least in return you get a great deal of enjoyment and satisfaction for your time and effort and same for any others that contribute to administering this. -
The Deep State War Heats Up

Election or not, get rid of her if she's in the way of justice. -
Agree, especially since the NFL (and other sports leagues) have become more political in recent years.

Drama queen. So Presidents aren't allowed to catch a virus and be slowed down for a few days or a week? If they cough we should swear in the VP? He's got a virus, it's being treated, he'll be fine before the end of the week.

Hardly. The public evidence of wrongdoing is overwhelming, there has been a guilty plea, at least one grand jury empaneled and an ongoing investigation. If Trump is re-elected, the investigation will run to conclusion and we'll know a lot more then. If Biden is elected, it's hard to imagine him not ending the investigation.

Trump, Melania Test Positive for COVID 19
keepthefaith replied to The Frankish Reich's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
So then the leaders of all countries who experienced Covid deaths (which is essentially every nation on earth) are incompetent, and add 50 US Governors to that list. Then neither did every other world leader or 50 US state governors. They're all guilty of failures of leadership. -

You can't have it both ways. If those 200K are victims then so is Trump. -
Do you like Biden because he's a Democrat?
keepthefaith replied to RochesterRob's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I don't know anyone that likes Joe Biden as a candidate. Some will vote for him because he's the anti-Trump but so far not one of the lefties I know thinks Joe is great. -

Obviously those 200K people were just as irresponsible as Trump. -

Are you kidding me? Trump's already on the road to recovery. He'll have the very best of care including Zinc, Vitamin C and D, Remdis-whatever it's called and HCQ. He'll also likely get the plasma antibody treatments and by now he's used a rectal ultraviolet light and injected bleach. He'll be fine by Monday and it'll be like it never even happened. -

Thank you. She has a very nice picture of herself there. -
I never knew "Joe" was actually his middle name. S. Joe Biden has a good ring to it.

Nothing burger. POTUS and FLOTUS will be fine. -
This is not a plug for Biden (pun intended) but I don't see his election as bad for markets. Maybe initially through inauguration but once he (Kamala) is in the seat the outrageous deficit spending and low interest rates will endure. Taxes won't get raised significantly unless they flip the Senate. Trump on the other hand if he's re-elected has to IMO begin to address spending (deficits) if he is to leave his party and the country in good shape.

Trump didn't fail to disavow white supremacy. He's simply had a senior moment. Couldn't get the words out. He's developing a stutter.

Term limits would be a good step. Fat chance of that happening.

Part of that determined effort is voters better funding challengers. Incumbents in house and senate races almost always enjoy big funding advantages. The hard reality is it's really expensive to mount a winning campaign against incumbents.

The whole thing sucked. Both of them sucked. Only the great pizza, beer and presence of my fabulous wife (keep it clean boys and girls) salvaged the evening. Even my kids were sending us texts on how much it sucked.

Wallace won and he didn't do very well himself.

I don't know. I watched about 45 min of Comey this morning. I think these Senators suck at asking questions and getting to the root of things. Even Cruz was more show than getting any new info out in the open. The 5 minutes each format sucks. If the rules allow designate fewer people to each have more time and make sure each of them are fully prepared. I recall when Hillary went in front of the house on Libya for an entire day and they barely laid a glove on her. Sure she lied and dodged but for *****'s sake you've got these people sitting still in a chair where they can't move for a day. Make it count.
