  1. Have you seen the '08 schedule? Get ready for 1-4 again.
  2. That's a real concern especially when you consider how far out of their way the Bills brass went last year to keep JP happy.
  3. What, nobody here has yet to pick the QB for MVP?
  4. That's a very good question. Money is the only reason I can think of now. A great season could build some loyalty. WR performance is so dependent upon the supporting cast and performance = $.
  5. What's so surprising to me is how sure so many folks on this board are sure that Trent is the answer and that JP will never be a good QB in this league. Both of these premises are a long way from being determined.
  6. The "heat" was expected. It'll be an interesting season.
  7. Thanks for taking the bait. We may never know all the reasons the Bills went with Trent last year. Trent will have alot to prove this year along with a coach that has to operate more now from a sense of urgency.
  8. Lee Evans and Marshawn Lynch are the best talent that the Bills have at their positions. Interestingly when looking at the production by Lee and Marshawn for last season in games played by JP or Trent, there is a noteworthy difference in their performances. Lee avaraged 65 yards per game receiving when JP was QB (455 yards in 7 games - including Jets game while JP was in there)and 40 yards per game (394 yards in 10 games - including Jets game while Trent was in there). Marshawn ran for a 4.3 yards per carry (88 carries for 380 yards) with JP at QB and 3.8 yards per carry (192 carries for 735 yards) with Trent at QB. Could it be that opposing defenses respect the pass more with JP in there giving Marshawn a bit more running room? I doubt that anyone on the board would dispute that JP finds Lee more more big plays more often than does Trent. Wouldn't you want the guy in there that can best utilize the best offensive players this team has? Looks like a no-brainer to me.
  9. I believe he'll be the opening day starter.
  10. It would be nice to believe that Fairchild did a bad job and also did not carry out Jauron's wishes on how to call the offense. We have no evidence of that. It's equally possible that they didn't see eye to eye on how to run the offense, but that Jauron was the one holding back Fairchild. Now he's been replaced by a rookie OC. This is a big question going into this season.
  11. Maybe, I'm certainly heading in that direction.
  12. Simple. My lifelong support (nearly 40 years of following this team and more than 10 years as a season ticket holder) of the Bills is waning after last year and recent years. Zero faith in the head coach after watching him here in Chicago for several years and now seeing "DJ Act II" in progress. It's painful to watch. Would love to have the guy as my next door neighbor, but head coach of the beloved Bills, no. I'm in desperate need of a "spark" from this team. Until then, enthusiasm is on the decline.
  13. An easy case can be made that the Bills have been constrained by player talent the past couple years. If the front office corrects that, and it looks like the talent is improving, expect DJ to become the constraint. Once that happens, he'll be gone or should be. You can only win so many games with the "keep the game close until the end and hope to win it" approach that he deploys.
  14. Hate to piss in your Cheerios especially after so many consecutive years now of disappointment, I see another 7-9 or 8-8 season. Too soon to tell since draft, camp and pre-season yet to go, but a few of the games you believe will be wins look to be against teams that will at least be improved this year and some are road games. Looks like a tough schedule for a mediocre (at best) team like the Bills. I hope to be wrong.
  15. 3 electric wide receivers in a Dick Jauron offense are as useful as breasts on a bull.
  16. Exactly. Expect him to lay up in front of the water everytime, even when it's not that tough a shot. Expect him to let those behind him play-through.
  17. Throw in a couple sets of handcuffs and it's a good deal.
  18. You missed my point. I'd suggest the Bills not draft any WRs and cut all that they have on the roster except for Roscoe who can return punts. Go with 8 lineman and find a 9th that can hand the ball off and lead block. Jauron hates the passing game, has never had an offensive coordinator in Chicago or Buffalo worth a damn. Get rid of that position too. QBs and WRs are the biggest malcontents in football. Get rid of them and the headaches they cause. Give the coach what he wants. You win with defense and luck in this game.
  19. Ahhh, a self-promoter.
  20. They should take an offensive lineman. I think using 8 lineman, a QB, and 2 running backs on every play will keep Jauron sleeping well at night.
  21. It's probabbly easier to defend the Canadian brand of football compared to the brand that Jauron is teaching to the Bills' young and talented and impressionable players.
  22. I think I can answer that..... 1. Hoping that Trent can at least get the Bills back to where they were in terms of QB production. Hoping not to take a step backward. 2. Hoping to see what kind of reaction that generates on this board. Many fans feel it wasn't good enough that JP put up those numbers, but possibly many fans here hold Trent to a lesser standard. After all, he's nearly a rookie, only spent a 3rd rounder on him so he gets a pass from many. 3. These numbers would be a big improvement for Trent, a good step in the right direction. 4. Failure to at least do that well would be cause for concern for both Trent and Captain Conservative (Dick Jauron). Jauron should be generating plenty of concern by Bills fans already.
  23. You're betting that Jauron will loosen up as the Bills get more offensive talent? I hope you're right, but after watching in Chicago here for several years and seeing what he has done thus far in Buffalo plus listening to him during his Press conferences, I see no evidence of this leopard (or should I say kitty cat) changing his spots. He's conservative and risk averse to the core. Even his approach to defense. As long as he keeps pushing the dump it down and take what the defense gives you play the percentages and don't put your QB at risk chicken shyt offense, expect other teams defenses to play up tight to the line of scrimmage, not respect the big play and make it hard for the Bills to run the ball also. Edwards is a perfect fit for this. Not one set of balls between the two of them IMO.
