  1. JP might be in the better position of the 2 QBs. Trent right now is betting his career on a coaching staff with zero history of developing a QB into a decent one. Statistically speaking, JP's 2006 season might be the best ever by a Jauron coached QB. JP may end up next year in a better coaching situation and end up having himself a nice career as a starter, fueled in part by the tremendous motivation that the Bills will leave on him.
  2. Tis the season of great optimism and anticipation. It would be nice to see that season extend into the fall.
  3. Regardless of which side of the JP/Trent argument people are on, I think it's fair to say that valid arguments can be made both ways. Good thing is that if Trent is the starter this year, he can simply end the debate with how he plays or doesn't play. No problem Trent, just go out and show us all that the coaches are making the right choice.
  4. You know what? Who cares. The Bills (the likes of Jauron, Turk, Edwards, and a bunch of new players) have the opportunity to show us all that together they are difference makers. Until then, opinions don't matter.
  5. That's nice, but I don't give a rat's ass about what anyone writes about this staff or this team. They've got to show meaningful progress as a staff and a team IMO if they expect to keep the fans interested. The head coach Mr. Rogers is on the hot seat as far as I'm concerned, and in part with the choice of Turk after not interviewing even one outside candidate to our knowledge.
  6. Levy and Jauron are both considered delegators. Difference though is that Marv deferred to a guy named Marchibroda who had a slightlly better resume than anyone Jauron has worked with as an OC. BUT, Jauron picked his guys too didn't he. Notice how he's always picked relatively inexperienced coordinators? He picked Turk without even interviewing an outside candidate. Jauron is really making his bed here with his decisions. His boys better step up, or there is plenty of room for critism. Picking weak managers is usually a sign of a weak leader. In his defense, I think Fewell is the most under appreciated coach on the staff. He had little to work with last year, but my eyes told me that his guys on defense played their guts out on nearly every down.
  7. Maybe not. Fairchild and Jauron may not have been on the same page. I doubt we'll ever know. If you think about all the people involved last year (if you believe that the front office made the call to start Edwards) there could easily have been a lack of cohesion on how the offense should be run and by whom.
  8. That's what those protein shakes are for.
  9. I think JP played more while Lynch was hurt and was handing the ball to A-Train in a couple games. The Bills coaches finally woke up later and had Fred Jackson carry the ball more when Edwards was in and Lynch was still out.
  10. Agree that running is essential. When the other team knows you have a rookie QB that will only throw short and that the offense wants to run the ball first, the defense simply plays closer to the line of scrimmage, doesn't respect the long play and makes it tough to run. Watch the Colts. You won't see defenses lined up in a "we dare you to pass the ball" stance. Good teams defend a team like the Colts very differently than teams like the Bills. The Bills should expect the same lack of respect from opposing defenses this year until they prove otherwise.
  11. I am not willing to point the finger of blame at Fairchild for last year. There were a lot of factions at work in the offense last year. I don't think it would be a stretch at all to conclude that the front office, the coaches and the QBs were not all on the same page last year in terms of how to run the offense and who should run it. The proof will be in what happens this year.
  12. FWIW I think JP is the better QB for the right coach. I don't think he is a Jauron type of player and I still think the front office made the call to insert Trent.
  13. Trent's Strengths that I see: Does make a quick decision in the pocket. Throws a nice catchable short ball and can place the ball well short (under 15 yards) makes low risk decisions Does not appear to get rattled in the pocket For how little experience he has, he seems to have a good mental grasp of what has to be done Weaknesses I see: Good at getting rid of the ball when rushed but not very good at avoiding the rush. Rush defense knows where he'll be and can key on that. Tendency to take low risk choices makes it easy for defense to defend longer routes. Emotionally a bit robotic. Leadership IMO requires some fire from time to time. Experience Predictable Not ready to label him as injury prone, but he has not proved that he can hold up physically long term
  14. Let's not talk about how good that 7-9 was. The Bills beat only doormat teams and lost to eveyone that was middle of the pack or better. That puts the Bills at the top of the doormat list. They couldn't get to 9-7 because they couldn't beat a good team (even when they got 6 turnovers - Dallas). At least on paper the front office has upgraded the talent over last year and the injured players coming back helps too, so the defense should be a lot better. Offense still a question IMO. Jauron a big question also IMO. He'll have fewer excuses compared to last year. He has a lot to prove to the fans, the team and the front office IMO.
  15. I agree with most of this and based on what the coaches say publically about Trent's Trengths, it could be a good fit. My understanding is that the progression of reads in the WCO is short first, then longer. Guys like Favre, Montana and Steve Young were very successful in this style of offense because they could get to the later progressions (longer throws) with some regularity and make big plays meaning the defense could not always key on the short stuff for risk of being burned long (which helped the shorter part of the game). If this is how it works, then Trent (and the entire offense) must develop some capability to hit the longer plays in order to be more productive. Mastering only the short quick reads will allow the defense to key short which also hurts the running game. Those are the results we saw last year often with Trent at QB. The defense knew he'd keep it short, adjusted to that. The defense could focus on a smaller area of the field. As far as Turk is concerned. He has to prove that he can effectively design and implement an offense that can score a lot more than last year.
  16. I see nothing wrong with that. They're lower in calories than most deserts.
  17. Yes, but the cast of characters was slightly different. The Bill are not committed to a dramatic and explosive show. Their newest act is one better suited to the kinder and gentler crowd.
  18. Yes the Giants started slow and then got hot and stayed hot. That's different from losing your last 3 games of the season when your playoff hopes are hanging by a thread.
  19. You've hit the nail on the head.
  20. From a practical standpoint, the Bills were not in the playoff hunt because they had demonstrated all year that they could not beat a good team.
  21. The season ticket total is impressive in the wake of the bad economy, smaller population and lack of a playoff birth in so many years. Looks like a healthy franchise to me.
  22. Bruschi! Surprised they aren't #1 as long as he's alive.
  23. "Highly Fantastic". That's great! To answer your question, I'd say stick around and watch this year. Nobody IMO in the Bills' organization has more pressure on him than da coach.
  24. .......If only we could get good NY style Pizza in Chicago.
  25. JP would have won the Dallas game. There, I said it.
