From what I hear Larry Tripplett is an upgrade This teams needs a big time wide body in front of the smallish London Fletcher. Free agency was a bust so maybe the Bills can do something in the draft.
-
"many offers"? When? By whom? The "ONLY" reason? I'm sure the millions and millions of dollars in revenue and tax breaks has nothing to do with it. Or, that he gets yearly upgrades to his stadium without spending a penny. Sorry Kid. The "we should just be happy" crap doesn't fly. Not when WNY spends millions of tax dollars to keep the Bills happy while closing down schools, laying off cops and firemen.

I'll take DC crippled over a third string scrub from Green Bay any and every day. If DC plays or not is not the point. It's about a team willing to go out and get the job done. The best thing anyone can say about this off season is that Marv tried to sign a couple restricted free agents. Not good enough. If TD was still GM and made these same moves you would crucify him. Bills fans are expected to bend over and take it because it's Marv. The clock on Ralph is ticking. He can pass on tomorrow just as well as a year or two from now. Maybe that's why all this is happening. He gave it a shot and now it's time to save his money for his kids.

KFFL confirms Bill shopping Losman
DeLuca1967 replied to ndirish1978's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This just in. In a move of pure genius Marv has retracted his demand of a 4th and is now demanding a 5th. He hopes this will confuse the Seahawks who have nothing to do with this trade. -
Worst off-season in Bills history??????? Why you young whipper snapper. How about in 1967when the Bills traded Lamonica and Miller for Flores and Powell and decided Johnny Pitts was worthy of a # 1 pick? How about in 1969 when we had decided on Baltimore assistant coach, Chuck Noll as our head coach until John Rauch got mad at Al Davis and quit and we snapped him up so he could make O.J a decoy? How about when they let Chuck Knox escape and replace him with who? I think the memorable Kay Stephenson. How about 1985 when they decided to keep Kay Stephenson as coach? How about 1976 when we kept Gary Marangi who ended up with a 30.7 QB rating in 232 attempts and our kickers were John Leypoldt, Ricky Ricardo and Stzyklzk Jakowenko? How about 1982 when the Bills traded up 2 spots to pick Perry Tuttle followed by Matt Kofler, Eugene Marve and Van Williams? I still have hopes for this team. Give me a break. 649062[/snapback] Compared to this off season? Those are the Golden Years.

Great. Maybe in five years this will be a great off season? I'm sure the fans in L.A. will have a great time.

Tripplett an upgrade? Really? Based on what? His benching by the Colts last season. Royal may be a better blocker then Campbell but he has no hands. He's like Rueben Gant. Andre Davis? The guy hasn't been able to stay on the field enough to match Josh Reed's numbers. What would I have done that would put to shame all the moves Marv did. I would have gone out and gotten 1, not all, 1 free agent that would help this team. I am so tired of all the Levy apoligists who say "Free agency isn't like grocery shopping (or Madden)". "zero sum gain"? No team gets better? Just because the Bills aren't any better doesn't mean other teams don't. The Dolphins in one years time have left the Bills in their dust. They needed a QB they went and got one. They addressed their needs. Laugh at the Cardinals all you want but James makes them a much better offense then what the Bills have. And let's not forget that Marv's first choice for coach quit after one week of working with Marv. MM is a smart man and he can read the writing on the wall. So can Moulds. And soon Spikes and others. So get excited about the Trippletts, Royals, Daviss and the Nalls. because that's all your going to see in Buffalo for a long time unless Ralph gets a moment of clarity or sells the team. This is the worst off season in Bills history since they decided to go with Bruce Mathison at QB.
-
You only have to look at this years free agency. While talent has left the organization none has been brought in. The big Marv signing is Nall? A scrub third stringer who got no consideration in Green Bay? Green Bay knows a lot more about QB talent then the Marv and Co. so that should tell you something. Marv was clearly overwhelmed by the speed of free agency. He has never had to deal with that. While coaching he had Polian feeding him talent. Polian handed him HOF talent and Marv's record is what it is. Good or bad depending on your thoughts on that. The Bills had a chance to start fresh. By not searching the league for GM talent Ralph has set this franchise back years.

People hate the JPL Rumor for One Reason
DeLuca1967 replied to Arkady Renko's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He has shown less over a longer period of time then JP has. Neither this GM or Head Coach has a history of picking and developing QB's. Marv was handed Kelly and Marchibroda did all the coaching. When Marv had his chance? Well we all remember Todd Collins. As far as DJ? Well his QB record speaks for it's self. The Bears were a nightmare on offense. If this team has any hope of winning a few games it lies in JP coming through. If Nall's your QB? That puts the Bills on the clock for #1 overall in the 2007 Draft. -

I "wouldn't give two craps" if they let JP go and they had an actual QB on the roster. At least JP offers slim hope. Holcomb and Nall offer nothing. A career back up and a career third stringer is not what you build you team on. Give JP the chance. If he can't do it this year? Then come back next year with a new set of QB's. -
Yes. It is. If you like JP or not. This team needs to find out once and for all about JP. Get him in an offense let's see what he can do with some protection. I'm not saying he is Tom Brady. It's just I have never seen Brady play with a horrible O-Line. I know one thing. If Nall is the best of the three? Then you better draft a QB #1 and hope he can start by game three. Nall is not this teams answer at QB. I hold the GB front office in more esteem then I do the Marv led front office. They thought enough of Nall to draft a QB #1 and make him the #2 behind Farve. Nall is nothing more then a Travis Brown. Good with a scout team and a clip board. If he has to start then then you better run the ball 60 times.

That's good to hear.
-
There was a reason. The reason was that this team couldn't win with Bledsoe. That was proven. JP happened to be the young QB on the roster and they gave him a shot. It happens more often then you think. Look at what the Chargers are doing. JP was hit with a bad injury at the worst time. Then he was thown to the lions without one decent lineman to protect him. People are going to hate on JP because that's what Bills fans do. The Bills are going nowhere this season so it'a a perfect time to build a line and give the kid his shot. The only problem I have is when will Marv start to address the O-line?
-
Nall as the No. 1 and (Kelly) Holcomb as the backup That may be the most disturbing thing I've read in a very long time. Let's turn the reigns over to a guy who attempted 33 passes over the last four seasons? Zero last year? His numbers are almost exact to another former Bills great Rob Johnson. If JP is not the guy so be it. Then Marv has failed big time by not going out and getting his starter. Right now it looks like it is JP, Holcomb or you run the Wing-T.

Is the offense he ran in Colorado the same one he ran in St. Louis? If not? Which one is he brining to the Bills?
-
They play eight games at home in the dome. One in each Arizona, San Fran and Seattle all are pretty much nice weather games. That's 11 out of 16 where the weather is a non-factor. It's easier to scheme a passing attack when weather is not a factor. The wind in the Ralph is still a big factor when it comes to game plans. It effects the passing and kicking games. What makes me feel better is that Fairchild will know how to work the running game. I'm not all that worried. I'm just trying to start some actual football conversation and maybe learn something about some of the coaches I know little about.
-
You don't have any doubts about running that system in Buffalo? Weather, lack of a QB and a suspect offensive line are hard to overcome. I'm not saying he can't. I'm just wondering if he is another guy who thinks he can open it up here in Buffalo. Considering the tallent I wonder if it would just be better to stack to TE's and a Fullback and play a strict field position game. much like the Bears did. The Bills defense is not as strong as the Bears, it is stil further along then the offense.
-
What is the plan? Is he bringing in a specific offense? Or is he going to take a good look and then come up with his schemes? There have been too many coaches in recent history that have failed because of their preconcieved notions.
-
I am wrong to be concerned about him coming from a dome team to game planning eight games in the Ralph? I would be grateful for any info that would ease my concerns.

Isn't Lebeau 70? A 90 year old owner? A 80 year old GM? A 70 year old Head Coach? I can imagine how many 'Golden Girls' posts there would be.

Here's a draft that can fulfill our needs.
DeLuca1967 replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If that's true and there are "plenty" of lineman that grade out to be solid NFL linemen then the Bills should use every pick on linemen. Marv always said "inorder to win you have to be able run and stop the run". Right now, IMO, the Bills don't enough tallent on either line. To go in any other direction? Then maybe you should go out and get a Safety. Because he is going to be making a lot of tackles down field. -
Who is your favorite Bills Player?

#81 (in honor of Perry Tuttle) DeLuca from my Madden Bills Team. He's coming off a 2000 yard recieving season. -
Now we see who can play poker

Didn't it happen when the Bills got Bledsoe? -
I see what you're saying. But I'd trade the three I listed for any of the sets you listed. If you have enough talent you can make up for the lack of size.
-
With Clements and McGee being great tacklers on the corners is a Bills defensive strength. Forceing teams to the outside, IMO, is a must. If Fewell and Jauron feel Anderson is up to the task and they go elsewhere in the draft? Any chance of them toying with the idea of moving Spikes inside? Fletcher is good, don't get me wrong, but a year older and a step slower. Having him play weakside gives him less ground to cover. I think it would make him more effective. Then you're looking at an inside of Anderseon, Tripplett and Spikes. Then add the speed of Huff at safety? It's way too early. But's it's going to be a lot of fun going over all the possible combinations.
