The speed will look real good to the QB's while they are on their back because the Bills have no one on the offensive line.

New Mayor of Buffalo
DeLuca1967 replied to buffalobillsfootball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You are right. A good Mayor would be saying the City is doomed and we should sell out to the NFL and toss every available dollar to the Bills. It's time to wake up. The Bills leaving is the least of our problems. The City needs to increase jobs, test scores ans public safety. Then maybe worry about any professional sports teams. -
I bought one at Dicks Sporting Goods for $7.50 a couple of years ago. All I need now is for the Bills to sign Russell Copeland and I'm all set. Maybe even Chris Burkett?
-
For the Bills to be here long term one of two things have to happen. 1) The NFL will have to redo a CBA that 30 of 32 teams agreed upon. That's not going to happen. 2) Local tax payers will have to pony up yet more cash to keep the Bills competetive. That's not gong to happen either. The Bills are a luxury. When we don't have enough teachers, policemen and fire fighters not mention having to close public parks becuase there isn't enough money to maintain them? The fact that Erie County is spending millions this off season to fix the Ralph is a crime against WNY tax payers. We have overcrowded schools and unemployement is high but don't worry all the toilets in the Ralph flush correctly. When you can't cover the costs of the basic services provided to the citizens of the region then we have no right to spend a dollar or the millions that go to the Bills.
-
Thanks. You seem to get the point I was making. I don't want the Bills to leave Buffalo. Being a life long citizen I have to wonder if this is a top priority? There is so much to fix in WNY the Bills may be a luxury we can no longer afford.

Welcome to a free market economy. Like it or not it's what this country has been based on for over 200 years. The only reason you care is becuase it's your team. Nobody cared when it was St Louis, Oakland or Cleveland. And those cities had the revenue to support an NFL team. Buffalo is in a unique position. If they didn't have the Bills already there would be no chance in hell they could get an NFL franchise. Add MLB, NHL and the NBA to that list. And to correct you. TV revenue is why the NFL is the #1 sport in the U.S., not revenue sharing.
-
That makes sense. The other 31 owners and the NFLPA had secret meetings to get the Bills out of Buffalo? It what other business are you required to share your revenue? Imagine being a top salesman and having to give up part of your commission to the weaker salesmen? The CBA is designed to force the weaker sisters of the league to step it up. Why should Jones and Snieder have to subsidize another team? They invest their money and get great returns. They spend money to give their fans the best product they can and the fans repay them with more revenue. It's how any business is supposed to work. If the revenue isn't here in WNY why do we expect the other teams to pay money so we can have a team? I heard a great point on the radio. This is Buffalo 2006. Not Buffalo 1965. We are no longer among the Cities like Boston, Philly or Pittsburgh. We are now Toledo, Akron or Rochester. It's time to wake up. We can't keep our parks open or our teachers and policemen employed.

Simple math to save the Bills.
DeLuca1967 replied to DeLuca1967's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Simple. Raise the prices of everything across the board. Like a previous post said. More for parking. More for Beer. More for food. More for Jersey's. It's not the job of the Dallas Cowboys and Washington Redskins to raise the revenues of the Bills. That's un-American and goes against everything a free market economy is all about. If the Bills do not make enough revenue then it's up to them to be smarter with their money (ala the Sabres) and maximize their revenue streams (ala the Sabres). It's not the WNY tax payers job and it's not the job of other teams. 30 of 32 owners found no problem with the CBA. It's seems that the CBA is a diversion away from the real problem. WNY just does not have the corporate dollar to substain an NFL franchise in the 'New NFL'. -
Simon a sellout? Funny thing. People would call him a shill when he was WNSA.

Stinking businessmen ruining the league

Before we crown Ralph 'King of the Popes', lets not forget he kept the Bills here and made a ton of money. If the Bills were money losers they would have been gone a long time ago. -
Simple math. If the 575,248 fans who bought tickets in 2005 paid $25 more per ticket? That would be $14,381,400.00 in additional revenue for the Bills. No need to waste additional tax dollars. If you want to keep the Bills pay the extra $25.
-
The make up of Buffalo? Isn't a bit strange that losing the Bills will cause people to get involved yet no one cares that the County and City are under Controls Boards? It would suck if the Bills had to move. But the Bills don't make our city safer. They don't make our kids smarter. They don't cause us to have lower taxes. And lets face facts. The Bills have Zero economic impact within the City Limits on game day. This off season alone Erie County is spending millions of our tax dollars making sure all the toilets at the Ralph flush properly and other repairs. Enough is enough. WNY just doesn't have the money to give away to a billionaire NFL owner.
-
Here are some better ideas for a rally. How about one to : Hire more police officers? Hire more teachers for the over crowded schools? Pay raises for city employees? Increase the State low test scores in our schools? If Ralph wants to make more money then raise ticket prices. It's what a free market economy is all about. No more corporate wellfare for billionaires. I'm sick of billionaire owners complaining how much the millionaire players make.
-
With all the crying of fiancial hardship the Bills are doing? I have no doubt they do not intend to pay the price the 8th pick overall will demand. It would fit right into what teh Bills have been doing (or not doing) this off season. They went out and got the cheapest GM and Coach (two guys just happy to have jobs) they could find. Their free agent signings have been small ticket players who had little if no interest from other teams. Time to face the facts Bills fans. The Bills plan to put out the cheapest team they can put together. They are doing a great job at it.

Just how hard is our schedule??

To say there was a "few bad calls" is like saying JFK died from an apparent head injury. It just doesn't do it justice. -

I'm not sure you can hide an assest as large as an NFL team. A team valued at what $500 million at least? Even just 20% of that is $100 million cash the family would need to pay the tax. If Ralph can strike a deal with law makers he can have a big chunk of the Tax waived in the best interest of the community. Even if the Wilson kids wanted to run the team they couldn't afford the initial cost of the inheritence. -
This whole Ralph thing is nothing more then Ralph looking to get a waiver on the 'Death Tax'. If he dies then the family would have to pay a ton of money just to collect his. They would have to sell the team just to flip the bill. If Ralph starts playing the "financial future" card then he can set things in motion to get a waiver which will allow his family to sell the team and get market value. So, if you want the Bills to stay? Get on the horn or use your e-mail and start letting your Reps know how important the team is to the region.

This is Donahoe and Mularkey's fault!

I hate to throw some facts at you post. But what the hell. When TD took over the Bills were $15+ million over the cap and Moulds and Wiley were unrestricted. Butler left the team in a huge mess. He made a tough decision and kept Moulds and Wiley has never been the same player. Score one for TD. The Bills at that time had two useless QB's counting over $10 million on the cap. He made the tough decision gave Johnson a shot when it didn't work he went and got Bledsoe. He upgraded the position. Score another for TD. Turned Peerles Price, an UFA, into a #1 draft pick. Price is now out of football. Score another for TD. Drafted Evans, McGee and McGahee. Score, score and score for TD. And could you let Parris's hand heal before saying he can't play. No player gets voted into the Hall of Fame after year one. Also, Moulds had a contract for this season. The reason he is not here is not TD. It's Marv's decision. No one else but Marv's. So trying to somehow blame TD is weak. If your mad about Moulds leaving then let Marv know. -
Who can figure these things out? The same guys who post how JP has to go are the same that think somehow Craig Nall is the answer? These same posters go to say what a horrible job Tom D did as GM but applaud Marv for not spending money to improve the team? I'm going to beat this drum until the season is over. You can't judge JP until you put an NFL offensive line in front of him. Not the crap the Bills had last year and the crap they still have now.
-
Like or dislike Sam Adams it doesn't matter because he's gone. There is a huge hole down the center of this defense. Thinking that Larry Tripplett will suddenly become a player and fill that hole is a gamble, if lost, that will hurt the Bills defense.
-
It's hard to say at this point because he has played behind a crap line thus far. Without any improvments to the line? At this point we may not get any answers this season either. Willis is not a patient man. In the Bills line continues to be crap he'll be jumping ship at the first chance.

Any chance of anyone breaking your Dimaggio like streak of 15,936 posts without saying anything interesting? -
You think having a guard and center in his chest has anything to do with that. Oh and by the way, teams don't run at Sam Adams. His job was, is and will be to take up blockers and free the middle linebacker up to make plays. It's why Fletcher has had good seasons. Watch as teams single up Tripplett and fire guards out at the linebackers to create holes and cut back lanes. Suddenly Fletcher is going to look real old and real slow when he can't fight through the lineman to get to the backs.

Any chance this off season is just the world's greatest April Fools joke and the Bills will have a press conference tomorrow to announce a new front office and a bunch of player signings?
