EGO And he took this job because it was the only offer he had. If he had had "passion" or pride he wouldn't allow himself to be used as a figure head. He's the only GM in the NFL that doesn't run his draft, negotiate contracts or sign free agents. How much passion does it take to step up to a podium to tell jokes. We're not talking about the quality of the team. Ralph could sell the Bills tomorrow and rake in 700-800 million dollars, and that is not a joke. It's not a joke and it's also not true. If Ralph were to sell the team he wouldn't see anywhere close to that amount. He would lose a huge chunk to taxes. That aside, exactly how many buyers are there who are ready to write a check tomorrow. You're talking about a billion dollars here. There just not that many billionaires willing to buy NFL franchises.

Really? Are you sure of that? And what enormous paydays? Or are you just assuming that there are a dozen cities out there ready to fork over a 1/2 billion dollars to move the Bills? Ralph makes money hand over fist. And when he wants more the county and state give him more. So this idea that Ralph is a kind old man keeping the Bills here because he has a soft heart is crap. If the Bills ever lost one dollar you would see things change big time. Ralph is smart and pennywise. He knew that the Bills would suck this season so threw out a bone named Levy and some fans ate it up. Take a close look. The 2006 Bills look a lot like the 2005 Bills. No QB, though many were available (and the Bills pick up Nall ). There were many quality lineman out there and the Bills pick up retreads. The Wideouts are even worse then they were last year. Then they address the D-line by picking up a player who was benched last year because he sucked and drafting a rookie in the first round who wasn't even the best, or second best, lineman on his college team. I understand that none of that matters because Marv is here

What the hell are you talking about? "best interests"? The Bills are a business. They don't care about "our best Interests". They care about the bottom line. They care about our wallets. And who in the administration is "one of us"? It's not Ralph, Marv or Modrak. They don't live in WNY. It's onething to have a positive attitude towards the Bills. It's another to create some candy coated utopia where Marv craps gumdrops and lollipops while keeping close watch of our "best Interests". It's time to wake up. The team that has your "best Interests" insults you everyday when they wheel out Marv (the faux-GM) to tell you jokes and make you feel better by reminding you of 1990 and keeping your mind off the problem at hand, the 2006 Buffalo Bills. I can't wait until I read the posts when the Bills are 0-4 in the regular season and finding out how they are the best 0-4 team in NFL history and what a great job Marv has done

Can we put the McGahee Bad posts to rest?

Wouldn't it be a better indicator of the score? If a back gets 30+ carriers the score is close or the RB's team has a big lead. Also, Barry Sanders is not in the same class as a Emmitt Smith. -
NFL bust Leaf now D-II QB coach at West Texas A&M

I don't know about that. I saw him on HBO's Inside Sports and he seems to feel he wasn't good enough. It's funny when an athlete doesn't live up to our (the fans) expectations the athlete is the one who automatically has the "ten cent head". I think this may be a case where the "experts" just had it wrong. -

Willis only had FOUR plays of 20+ yards last season . I'll take a back that can consistantly get me first downs and keep drives alive while still keeping defenses honest with his break away ability like a Kenny Davis. A back like Sanders put a lot of pressure on his defenses as they waited through all of the 3 and outs for him to break one. The bad thing was that the game would be over by the time he hit one. -

First off. I don't want anyone named "Peter" having me in their thoughts. It's creepy. Like it or not. Being a #1 pick sets the standard. If Willis was a 5th rounder we would all love him and he would be great with the numbers he has so far. That #1 lays a ton of bagagge on the kid. #1 players can't be average or just pretty good. When your a #1 pick you are either great or a bust. They get no margin for error. Take Mike Williams for example. If everything was the same as far as his skills and he was picked a later round he would still be a Bill today. So, being good isn't enough for Willis. He has to be great. If not? He's a bust. Even with the injury. -

Maybe loveable Marv can talk all the other teams into running that exact same defense All I really have to say is "F*** Successful". A first round runningback needs to be a force. The Bills need Willis to carry this offense on his back for them to just be average. He needs to be a threat from his own three yard line as he is from the opponents three yard line. All the "Big Time" backs can pop a TD from anywhere on the field. One time in a preseason game is a long way from doing it in a game that means something. Hopefully the Bills will be playing in some games that mean something this season. -

I thought you were talking about the Walter that came from a small school (not a RB factory like Oklahoma State) to become the second greatest runningback alltime. And he has a ring. -

Thurman played with a chip on his shoulder. Something to prove. Willis gives me the impression he feels entitled to his accolades. -

I'm sorry. I'll change my opinion. Barry Sanders is a god. If I were in prision I would want him to be my cellmate. Is that better -

It would depend on the money. I don't think he is a franchise back that will lead a team to the SuperBowl. He may have some nice numbers when his days are over but I doubt he will have any rings. And that is what's all about. -

What did he ever win? He is the Dominique Wilkins of the NFL. He's flashy but he wouldn't be in my top 20 runningbacks. I prefer backs that win. -

You just can't assume it. The Bills have a big decision coming up. McGahee's contract is coming to an end. I would guess he would be looking for his payday. Is he worth it? His numbers are pretty average. 26 games started. 3.9 yards per carry. 18 TD's. And a very disappointing 14 runs of 20+ yards. As much as some Bills fans want to pretend McGahee is a top tier back I'm not sure if it's in the teams best interest to invest top dollar into a average back. -

my latest Bills roster prediction
DeLuca1967 replied to Typical TBD Guy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Three SS's? If Whitner is the starter then either Bowen or Wire have to go. Do teams get a 53 man roster and 8 on the practice squad? That's a lot of players. -
Bills sound alot like the Sabres did last year
DeLuca1967 replied to Mr. T's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Like DaveB said earlier. The Sabres had so much going for them that people just missed. The Sabres were young and talented and that talent flourished early. The Bills are young but the level of talent is a huge question mark. But you are right. The Bills could surprise people. So can the Jets, Lions, Packers, Titans, Texans and Raiders -
Nice to see Aiken getting his props...

Who wins us the other game -
No. It was directed at the other guy I qouted. I can't think of many QB's that were benched their first year as starter then came back from it.

For me Losman is wait and see. It would be great if he can turn it around but how often does it happen? It seems that you can tell right away and I don't know if Losman has shown enough on the physical and mental sides of the game. As for Price? It's not impossible that he can turn it around. I don't know if he is the vertern wide receiver you want with the batch of young guys the Bills have. The Bills may not have a lot of talent at wideout but they do have speed. But if they can't run the ball and Losman can't take advantage of drawn in safeties then all the speed in the world won't help the Bills.

It wouldn't be much of a discussion if everyone had the same opinion? Would it? That would be a great topic? Don't you think? Why do so many have a negative opinion of the 2006 Bills? Wasn't just having Marv around supposed to make everyone feel warm and fuzzy? The Boards are about discussion. It shouldn't be a one sided Circle-JK. And speaking of tired? How about posting why you think Price will do well as a Bill without using the words "if" and "maybe". Instead of being just another poster proclaiming those who don't feel warm and fuzzy as "negative" or my favorite "doom and Gloom"

Reasons. 1) He doesn't have a stud #1 receiver on the other side to draw defenses. 2) No matter who wins the Bills QB starting job they will be the worst QB he has ever played with. 3) His arms retract in traffic like wedding tackle in ice water. 4) He has already played himself out the league once and if it weren't for the Bills he would be out this season. 5) Like many players his best year came in a contract year. Maybe the Bills should have signed him to a one year deal. Instead of giving him a big contract when no other team was even calling Price. Maybe Price should change his name from Peerless to Dime-A-Dozen. The Bills could have signed a number of wideouts for less money.
