The more things change the more they stay the same.

When did third downs become a passing only down. 3 & 13 - pass 3 & 3 - Run - Def Penalty 3 & 1 - Finally a McGahee TD. 3 & 7 - Pass 3 & 2 - pass 3 & 7 - pass 3 & 1- pass Except for goalline it was pass, pass & pass. Handing the ball off on third down is not a sin. It may even work. Considering the QB has a hard time throwing the ball pass the first down marker.

I'll give you everything you posted as true. Brees was still far and away a better QB then Losman.
-
The Bills had a lot of high picks during that span.
-
You think it might have to do with Rivers being a really talented QB? Just because you have a quality QB it doesn't mean you pass on a great talent. And let's not forget that the Bills would have picked Rivers if he fell. They setteled for Losman. Speaking of nice trys. It was a nice atttempt to distract from the point I made. Rivers vs Brees has nothing to do with Losman. Except that the Chargers ended up with two really good QB's and the Bills have none. Which briings up another point. How can the Chargers draft two quality NFL strating QB's in span of 3 years and the Bills have come up empty the past 23 years.

Like he had a choice? I think you've been spending too much time on the pipeline to think that Marv had any input on Tom Modrak being with the Bills. And that "ANALysis". That's so original and funny. I don't know what to say. I'm honored. Don't worry. I'll be there for #25,000. You just keep typing and saying nothing Did you ever know that your my hero Your everything I wish I could be I can fly higher than an eagle You are the winds beneath my wings That was for you big guy
-
That post looks nice. But, it has nothing to do with anything I posted. The record of the Bills and the growth of JP Losman are two different issues. Keep trying.

24,363 and counting. Wow! To watch a legend at work. My only hope is that your post #25,000 of meaningless diatribe is in response to me

It's funny how so many try to bring other QB's into this. There are many more 1st round QB's that bust then there are 1st rounders that hit. And how long did it take for the dozens of first rounders to become busts. 11 games? 20 games? You can't keep holding on to a QB because some other QB panned out after a number of games. It's like saying since Terrell Davis was a sixth round pick we should only draft RB's in the sixth round. Facts are facts. Losman is getting his chance this year and what has he done. Game 1 - took the safety that lost the game. Game 2 - 83 yards passing against a bad Miami team. Game 3 - The final four plays say it all. Game on the line and he wet himself. There is a fine line between faith and kidding yourself

At least you have goals Good luck with that

Which means nothing. No one has said that Brees is a HOF QB. That he was perfect. He is much better than Losman and was much further ahead at start #11 then Losman is now. As for Howard Simon? It seems like he gave up at some point. Maybe J White is holding him back somehow. I know it's hard to get guest at 7 AM. But you have a whole days worth of sports to talk about and you don't have to worry about something having been said since you're the first on the air. It seems when Simon starts to talk about sports White jumps in to turn into some type of list. Simon starts to talk a little golf and White jumps in with the 'Top five golfers named Paul' or if Simon talks baseball White jumps in with ' Top five Mets named Paul'. They should have Simon on with Sullivan for the pregame show. It's a waste of Sully to have him on with White. I tune in Sunday morning and what do I hear. Another gimic. Jerry is there to talk Bills and NFL Football and White is there with another list for 'Bills Speed Round' or whatever. WGR has gone towards the Sports talk version of fart jokes. It would be nice if they find sometime in their day to talk serious sports. Simon and Schoop have proven in the past they can do it. Sullivan is great at it. And they have some great guests from ESPN radio. I know sports should be fun. But it should also be a few levels beyond 'pull my finger' type talk.

By his 11th game Brees had already shown signs of being an NFL QB. JP has done nothing. As far as Big Ben? It just proves it takes more then an arm to win in the NFL. Which is something Losman just doesn't get. Ben makes smart plays. He makes the right decision most of the time. And he wins. But I do look forward to your post where you try to tell me that JP's first 11 starts are more impressive then Bens and that all of his wins and the SB ring mean nothing.

No. Our faux-Gm had nothing to do with the draft. The Draft was 100% Tom Modrak. Who I would guess, along with the contract guy who's name I can't remember this early, make up what would be the traditional "GM Role". Modrak didn't want the entire job so they split it up and they brought Marv in to do his vaudeville act in front of the media.

Not at all. Fred had great points that Simon and White couldn't defend against so they start yelling to make up for them being unprepared. I miss the days of WNSA. Actual sports talk. Not 'Ranking the 5 top Paul's'. The WGR staff is always unprepared. Their job is to talk sports. All they have to do is watch sports and read what others write about sports. How easy is that. How many times do you hear on WGR. "I didn't watch that game. I watched 'Lost' " or " I don't watch basketball" or some other relevant sport. If you have a chance. Catch 'Mike and the Maddog' on the YES Network some afternoon. Actual sports talk by guys who are prepared to talk sports. It's a breath of fresh air. I will say one positvie about WGR. Shoop and Bulldog are really good with Jerry Sullivan. Mike and Jerry can really talk sports because they both like sports other then hockey and football. I just wish GR would program other shows more like that segment.

If we must. The only option is to run the ball and keep running. Even in short yardage. Also, The coaching staff needs to get a lot smarter. Take points when available. Learn how to use the challenge system. And fire the person who thought is was a good idea to fake a FG in the 1st quarter and to run a bootleg deep in the Jets zone. There are no good options at QB at this point. Losman is not ready/able to be an NFL QB. Holcomb and Nall just suck. You do what the Bears did last season with Orton. You limit his pass attempts and run the ball. I thought that was the game plan going in. But for some reason this coaching doesn't like to take the points when available. The three they passed up against the Pats cost them the game. And the fake FG against the Jets turned the game around and gave the Jets life. Other then that. It's just another season of "Wait till next Year". Without a GM or a QB we may be saying that for a few more years.

Congrats! 24,361 posts without anything interesting to say. The streak continues. Yours is my favorite streak in all of sports. That many posts with nothing relevant to say amazes me. How do you do it? Is there a special diet or training regimen you do? Did you have to quit your job to train? Do you have sponsors to pay for the training?

They had the 8th pick in the draft and plenty of cap room. If this team had a GM they may have been able to turn that into a QB. From everything I've read, Cutler looks like the real deal in Denver. Whitner looks good. But I'll take a good QB over a good DB any and every day.
-
Did you even listen? I doubt it. Smerlas brought up great points. How long do you baby a player before he needs to step out on his own and make plays. There comes a time when a player shows some signs of being that QB. Loaman has not. Fred was right about it being 11 starts in three seasons. Losman didn't come out of the stands. He's been playing football since he was a kid. He should at this point be showing some composure. It was fun listening to Simon get caught off gaurd. White had nothing to say other then "11 starts". Usally when thr GR guys start to get run over they just hit the button and start yelling. Riter is the best at that. They completly ignore the points and try to distract from how unprepared they are. They couldn't do that with Fred. He's a big guy with a big mouth who got his point across loud and clear despite Simon and White trying to yell over him.

Peyton Manning was a better NFL QB the day he was drafted then Losman is right now. And did you say "moxy"? Players with "moxy" don't take sacks in th end zone with the score tied in the fourth quarter. Players with "moxy" don't destroy final drives like Losman did against the Jets. Losman has raw ability that doesn't go much beyond the physical. He may want to be a NFL QB, he may be willing to do all the work he can at it. You either have that NFL QB mentality or you don't. Inkman tried to make some point in a earlier post. He named QB's like Farve and Brees. He named QB's that showed that something special early. Who Inkman didn't name are Jeff George, Ryan Leaf, Rick Mire and others, who like Losman, had the talent and the arms but didn't have the NFL QB sense they needed to be solid NFL QB's. I know it reads like I hate JP Losman. I don't. I never met the guy. I hate the idea of more time going by without this team finding it's franchise QB. It's been 10 years since Kelly retired. To think that this team will be going into the next off season looking again for their next starting QB just brings to light how far from being real contenders they are.
-
Yes it was. By a yard. The pass was short so I'm not sure if the ball made it past. And, no Kelly wasn't 100%. And, to somehow turn this into a Kelly/Losman debate is insane. Kelly was stud QB the moment he stepped off the campus of the 'U of Miami'. The class of '83 was the greatest QB class of alltime. If you want to compare Losman to a QB of that year try Todd Blackledge. Losman only has 11 starts for two reasons. 1 - Injury 2- He wasn't good enough. You and others won't like this. It's time for Losman to make it happen and for fans to stop making excuses.
-
The only telling moment was when the game was on the line and JP crapped the bed. Nothing else he did in the game matters. And to compare JP to a HOF QB is an embarrassment. Kelly made a ton of bad throws in games. But when the game was on the line you knew what you had. You knew you had a chance. You knew the ball was going down field. Did any of JP throws make it past the first down marker on the final drive? I don't think they did. As far as Levy goes. You don't still believe he is the Bills GM do you. That's he is somehow something more then a glorified Walmart greeter that gets paid to tell jokes to the media? You can't be that gullible. But then again that's what the Bills were counting on.
-
Great QB's aren't made in the first quarter or garbage time. They are made when when they face adversity and the games on the line. When the game was on the line JP was lost. He played scared. That's all I needed see.
-
I've seen all I need of JP the final four plays of the Jets game. That was his moment to step up and become a quality NFL QB. He crapped the bed. He looked scared, unprepared and lost. And don't give that "it was his first time in that situation" crap. He's been playing footbal since his was 8. The good thing is that the Bills have a few years until they will contend. That is plenty of time to go out and find a real NFL starting QB. That of course depends on the Bills going out and filling the vacant GM job.
-
0 touchdowns and his coach has no faith he can get 1 yard. McGahee is a great back from 20 to 20. Get in the red zone and he sucks.
-
If the Bills were to lose Spikes then 2-14 or 1-15 looks more and more possible.
