  1. I tend to think that if Geno Smith isn't the player you put it all out on the table for.....then he should be there at #6.....and we only will have to trade up 2 spots for him. If he actually is that sort of player......this will become apparent over the next month, and the decision becomes moot....you then do anything you can to get him.
  2. ....and prior to that, Denver traded down from 11 to 13.....then from 13 to 24.
  3. Sorry....it looks like you might have put a bit of thought into that.....but....I simply cannot read it. It makes my eyes go all funny. You can edit your post. If you edit it into paragraphs I will be happy to read it.
  4. No! That's a bit unfair on people like me who haven't used it yet. I've been dying to use it.
  5. I thought the bit in red would have been a dead give-away.
  6. I like to go into Filthy Ron's and order a cheese burger without the cheese.
  7. Well.....his points were very poorly punctuated.
  8. I was very careful to use the word "likely".......I did not say it never happens......just that the likelihood of it happening are negligible outside of the top 36 selections. Kaepernick & Wilson would definitely agree with this opinion. Furthering that concept, if you somehow think it is wrong, name a QB that isn't Wilson or Brady who was drafted outside the top 36 picks in the last 27 years who became an Elite starter. The percentages I quoted were not opinions.....they were the facts. I am also wondering if you actually read my post at all. Kaepernick falls into Tier 2 as he was selected at #36.
  9. To be clear, the term "2nd teir" that I used was in reference to auburnbillsbacker's definitions.....of which I made assumptions with. His 2nd tier is actually what I would call 3rd tier. Also....to me, a team should only be interested in obtaining an Elite QB as history has shown that without one, there is very little chance to ever win the SB In my book there are only 3 Tiers of QB that are drafted. Tier 1 are the QB prospects with great potential. These are the QBs who get selected in the top 4 of the draft. The success rate for these QBs to become Elite is about 21%. Tier 2 are the QB prospects that show a glimpse(or two) that they could become elite. The NFL scouts virtually always recognize this and these QBs are subsequently virtually always selected in the 5-36 range. The rough success rate for these QBs to become elite is about 8%. Tier 3 are all of the other QBs. Wilson may or may not become an elite QB......but outside of him there has only been one QB(Brady) drafted after the 36 pick that became an elite QB(since 1985, where I went back to in my study). The rough success rate is about a half of a percent(0.5%) The short of it is.......any QB who we may select at the #41 spot is likely to have been assessed correctly by the NFL scouts as having no chance of becoming an elite QB......and if we want a reasonable chance to obtain an elite QB we minimally have to leapfrog ahead and select him at the top of the 2nd round.
  10. God I hope not. The chances that a 2nd tier guy becomes an Elite pro are miniscule.......and if he manages to live up to realistic expectations(also extremely low chance) and becomes a solid NFL starter, we will be stuck with mediocrity for another 6-10 years. When it comes to drafting QBs, history has shown that if you don't "swing for the fences" you have bugger all chance of finding the QB of your dreams.
  11. LOL.....looks like I did a good job imitating somebody on an irrational rant. Sorry I wasted your time....but it is sort of funny I'm finding it irresistible to respond to your post.....but I have no idea what to say. Is this some sort of mind control you obtained from the asteroid and are now using to influence my actions?
  12. I've said this in other threads.....but..... The moneyball that you are referring to is simply "value for money". This has been an enforced method of running an NFL Franchise ever since the salary cap was introduced.
  13. I was just about to ask you for an update on this. You must be psychic. I'm actually really curious on what Cincy are doing. They have bucket loads of cap money & haven't signed any new FAs.
  14. Very nicely worded post. Like it or not, you are not the target of mirth that this thread is directed at.
  15. Can you tape that conversation for us plz?
  16. No. You didn't miss anything, unlike the Bills FO which obviusly missed every class in "how to build a decent franchise 101". Sign Fritz to a disgusting large contract. Good decesion that was!!!!! Then we cut him kill the salary cap and leave ourselfs WITHOUT A QUARTERBACK!!!! At the same time we overprice our contract for a "superstar" super mario brother wannabe who can't improve anything but his bank ballance and our disgusting defense. We let our best player walk and lock up yet another DB leaving us with no true CB which we are garanteed to draft again this year or even worse draft a QB in one of the worst QB drafts EVER and if we are lucky we will draft Womak for crissake. A guard at #8! This team is so far gone they may as well pack up there bags now and than move to canada.
  17. For all intensive purposes, taking the ladder will be a mute point if we draft a decent QB.
  18. Name 3 in the last 21 years?
  19. There was absolutely no word that Lawson "had talks" or "scheduled a visit" or that the Bills were "interested" in him prior to his signing. I'm assuming that the Bills are being very tight lipped about who they have had talks with & are interested in etc.......and that perhaps there is very little media resources allocated to trying to figure out who is coming to Buffalo. It could also be that the Bills are cheap....have spent all the money that they intend to spend.....and are going to try to field a team similar to last year. I'm hoping the former.
  20. You wrote..... ".....just to stay even we need" .....and then listed a bunch of areas where you believed that we have become worse than last season. You then finished with.... "Your thoughts?" To which I gave my thoughts. They consisted of a breakdown showing that in all of the areas apart from OG that you listed......we are basically the same as last season. You then.....instead of rebutting or acknowledging the counter points I put forward against your initial premise.....responded with a bunch of sentences that barely touched on the original topic....even strangely mentioning Bryan Scott(who is still on the roster). You don't have to be a fancy schmancy sports writer or rocket surgeon to expect that when somebody makes a specific statement.....and then asks for your opinion on said statement.....to have them actually debate that statement......particularly if it is dubious in it's logic. If you want to randomly talk about random thoughts in a fragmented manner.....my advice is to not start threads on subjects that specify what the subject is about..........and don't bother asking other people what their thoughts are on it.
  21. The premise of the thread was "staying even". As I said.....we still have 2 of the 3 starting LBs from last season. Sheppard started 15 games.....Bradham 11 after earning the starting job. Lawson is likely an upgrade over Barnett....so we are actually likely better at LB already than last season. "Staying even" over last years WRs......Nelson didn't play after week 1. A legless octogenarian would be as productive as he was as he was on IR. Please don't argue different points to the point of the thread title that you wrote. Had you written that we are in a bad situation.....that we likely won't win more, or likely will win less etc, etc, etc.....I wouldn't have made issue. But you stated that we need to do all those things "just to stay even".....which is not the case.
