November 23, 2013 can't come soon enough....
Dibs replied to Just Jack's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Though I am a fan of Matt Smith, I am giddy with childlike excitement over the fact that Peter Capaldi is going to be #12. For those who have never seen "The Thick of it", here is a really clever fan promo for Capaldi's Doctor..... Very NSFW!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Blf073f2Lc -
We should've traded A. Williams when his stock was high
Dibs replied to FireChan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
But you're missing the point of the thread. Do you think that after he showed that he does indeed have some legitimate potential that we should try and trade him for a 4th(or up to 2nd) round draft pick? -
Unless you are proposing(pardon the pun) that there is some sort of special supernatural force that revolves around catching the bouquet, I would suggest you ignore it and propose marriage when both you and her are in the right place(emotionally).

The Peerless Price trade was a trade that actually occurred. It wasn't some ill-conceived fictional theoretical trade called for by an uninformed fan on a message board(which was what my initial comment was directed at). As there are a very large number of players that go first-contract-and-out.......and an extremely small number of players that get tagged strictly for trading purposes(virtually never happens).....I would say that for a fan to propose it as a legitimate option most likely displays a fundamental lack of understanding in the situation. ......and highlights my initial generalized point that all calls to trade any solid player for draft picks are ill conceived.

I didn't think Walker was on our roster.

I thought that was a popular view, not an unpopular one. Either way, I agree.

Jets rookie whines about Pats*
Dibs replied to \GoBillsInDallas/'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I like that one! I have dibs on everything......but you can have it. -
Hmmm.....he says Dolphins get sacked a lot.... "The Dolphins are allowing more sacks per game than any other NFL team and as the offensive line is unchanged from the previous five games, even coming off a bye week, there is little reason to believe Tannehill won’t get hit this game as he has others." .....and the Bills are pretty good at getting pressure on the QB.... "Led by Mario Williams, who is third in the NFL with eight sacks, the Bills are ninth overall in sacks per pass play." .....but calls it even. "ADVANTAGE: Even."

You should go into politics.

Though I wasn't part of that debate(at least I don't think I was), I tend to think that your view should have been disputed in the off-season if you were claiming that FJ was(at that point) a top 5 RB. IMO he clearly was a top 5 RB in 2011.....but he got injured. His 2012 performance was not as stellar. It might have been that he was needing a year to come back from the injury, or it could simply have been him hitting the wall due to age. At that point I would have thought it fair to say that he had been a top 5 RB......but claiming that he was still one last off-season was perhaps wishful thinking. As it's panned out, that wishful thinking has IMO turned out to be correct(to a point). He is again producing at a very high level(top 5) when he plays.....but perhaps he couldn't maintain the same level as a feature back, thus discounting him from the top 5 list. Perhaps he could though.....unless CJ gets majorly injured I figure we will never know. All that said, I am a huge fan of FJ. I rue the fact that he got injured in 2011. Had that not occurred, his story would have been stuff of legend.

Did the ball break the plane on the Marvin Jones "TD"
Dibs replied to 1B4IDie's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That rule.... (A.R. 11.2 Second-and-10 on B18. Runner A1 takes handoff and runs down the sideline toward the goal line with the ball in his outside arm. He crosses the goal line plane standing and gets his left foot down in the end zone with the ball to the outside of the pylon.) .....was referring to the player remaining in bounds while the ball is technically out of bounds(with the ball to the outside of the pylon.)......but still progressing past the depth of the goal line. In that situation, there is an assumed horizontal plane that travels out of bounds past the pylons. The touchdown is still called if the player has crossed the plane himself and the ball has crossed that imaginary plane(whether within the field of play or not). As many have stated, the ball must cross the plane of the endzone for a TD to be official. -
Deserved or not, Andre Reed will not be inducted into the HOF. RG3 is not the real deal. Not re-signing Levitre was a wise move. Not re-signing Clements was a wise move. Trading Lynch was a wise move. Buddy Nix was a great talent evaluator. Tasker was the best player ever to wear the Bills uniform. Hackett has done a good job with the offense so far. All calls to trade any solid player for draft picks are ill conceived. Drafting DBs with a top 10 pick is not the best way to improve a team. EJ Manuel may not become a star player. EJ Manuel may become a star player. Until the Bills have great QB play from a great QB we will have little chance of winning a SB.

Is that a reference to your Mom?

I think the logic for those concerned with the cut is..... If Legursky gets injured, who fills in for him.....and why wasn't that player starting instead of Brown two weeks ago?

NFL Week 6 Winners: Kiko and the Bills' draft class
Dibs replied to Rubes's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Though I don't disagree that we need another good draft, I feel that people are generally too quick to discount players that don't shine in their rookie years. In the previous two drafts we have 4 players(Gilmore, Glenn, Dareus, A. Williams) that if they continue to improve as they have done, might become top 10 talents within the next couple of years......with some additional players from those drafts that could easily become solid players, or provide solid depth. And with FA acquisitions such as Mario, Lawson, Branch and even Leonhard, Hughes, Summers and Carpenter.....there is a decent possibility that in a year or two we will look at the 2011-2013 off-seasons and say that we indeed had a string of 2-3 great draft/FA periods. -
Ironically, apart from the goal line plays, we converted 5 out of 5 3rd & 1 attempts in the game.

Matt Flynn on flight to Buffalo, (update - now signed)
Dibs replied to Punch's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Considering all of the hoopla around here the last two off-seasons with posters confidently backing Flynn and calling for us to trade for him, I expected to see at least a few "excited we signed Flynn" or "Flynn is great" posts in this thread. I guess it's true what they say. Time heals all wounds, including rash opinions. -
It's a much better thing to say when you are actually winning games though.

A Few Thoughts About The Game, in no particlar order.....
Dibs replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Thanks for that....even your Brown center/guard comment was very interesting(even though you didn't elaborate). At this point I personally am willing to cut Lewis some slack over the celebrations. I can imagine that psychologically it must be difficult to find your place in regards to the fandom, having come in and replaced the new savior 1st round pick. -

Dibs replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Hmmm....we have some veterans but this is a very young team. At the start of the season we had..... ....9 starters who had 2 or less years of experience.... Williams, Alonso, Dareus, Gilmore, Bradham, Woods, Graham, Glenn, Manuel ....with a further 5+ key backups with 2 or less years of exp.... Summers, Goodwin, Robey/Rogers, Searcy, Tuel/Lewis ....and another 5 starters who had 4 or less years of exp.... Legursky/Brown, Wood, Urbik, Spiller, Carrington ....with a further 3+ key backups who had 4 or less years of exp.... Legursky/Brown, Moates, Hughes As previously pointed out, we have the 3rd youngest team in the league......with 14 of 22 starters having 4 or less years experience coming into the season......plus another 8+ key backups. -

Though I think you may have let your emotions get away from you a bit this week.....your weekly threads are still by far my favourite part of TSW. What were your views on the OL today....particularly on Legursky/Brown? In case you weren't aware, OL illiterates like myself have come to rely on your views in this area, without them I pretty much have to resort to statistics and "feel".
