  1. I agree it can be better.....but we are still good and still top 5. I also agree that the predictability hinders things somewhat(we potential have a spectacularly good running game). I am fairly confident that the predictability however is directly related to our inexperience at QB.
  2. But our run game is good.
  3. I'm pretty sure that the last year on CJ's contract is optional(by player)......meaning they both could be FAs in 2015.
  4. I've never suffered a similar personal loss to SJ but I think I'm wise enough to realize that people react differently to grief. It seems obvious to me that SJ was somewhat in shock last week......and now the horrific reality of what has happened to him has set in. He might also have decided that his performance will be hindered(as it was last week) and has chosen to not play in order to do his best to help the team. Obviously the Bills have left the decisions up to SJ and it likely has little reflection on how they feel about his future in the club. There are not always conspiracies.....sometimes people simply act like normal people(as I see is the situation here). .....and btw, it's "couldn't care less", not "could care less".
  5. For 2013 season starters....22 of 32 (with another 2 coming from the top 4 in round 2[picks 33-36]) 1st rounders: P. Manning Brees(pick #32 would be a 1st rounder in today's league) Stafford Rivers Roethisberger Ryan Palmer Tannehill Flacco E. Manning Luck RG3 Smith Newton Rogers Cutler Manuel Wheedon Bradford Ponder Locker Vick ....and very close to 1st round: Kaepernick (#36) Dalton (#35)
  6. This thread has highlighted a very interesting situation relating to how TSW has been functioning.....at least to my eyes. According to the responses here, a vast majority(around 80%) see a reasonable chance(to varying degrees) that EJ can still become a top 10 QB. There were a couple of people voicing total confidence, and the rest basically have no confidence in him. This means that the vast majority of people see enough positives to have the opinion that all is not lost......but also see enough negatives to have the opinion that he may not be the answer. Effectively, they are undecided as what the future will bring. As the QB position is the most important and has the highest profile on a team, I am fairly certain that a large number of posters would like to discuss the relative merits and flaws of EJ, as well as many of the side aspects such as statistics, hope for the future, contributing factors such as coaching and injury etc, etc(or if not, at least read the discussions). Unfortunately it seems that whenever a discussion of this nature is attempted on the board, one(or more) of a handful of the posters who have determined that EJ has no chance to succeed interject into the conversation with obvious attempt to try and convince others of their point of view. Discussions then usually devolve into the merits of drawing a conclusion in regards to EJ at this early point.....and often involve the decenters mistakenly assuming that the other posters are of the opinion that EJ will indeed succeed when they are simply unconvinced of either outcome. I really don't feel that I am overstating the situation. Any discussion at all involving EJ, whether it be about his footwork, accuracy, improvement(or lack thereof), stat comparisons, injury issues, confidence levels(and how it may effect his play).......any and every discussion winds up with somebody either voicing the equivalent to "That doesn't prove anything, he will never be any good."(in a response to a positive comment on EJ)......or....."And here are some more reasons why he will never be any good"(in a response to a negative comment on EJ). I would like to plead to the people who have made up their minds already on EJ(and feel the need to convince others of the same). Please.....pretty please......please let others(the vast majority) discuss the myriad of topics relating to EJ and the QB position under the premise that he might still have a chance to become a top 10 QB.
  7. ....if not humble or subtle. Jokes aside, I'm sure that I am not the only one around here that pays closer attention to certain posters on particular topic due to their apparent higher level of expertise than the standard poster. Well pointed out at the time.
  8. My point entirely. Edit: Actually I was also hoping to make the point that comparing a 10 game rookie's outcome to a future HOFers outcome is ridiculous as well.
  9. If rookie peyton manning was the QB of this team we would be 2-12 not 5-9.
  10. If rookie peyton manning was the QB of this team we would be 2-12 not 5-9.
  11. Not quite.... Ravens 2012: Ed Dickson NYG 2011: Jake Ballard Packer 2010: Donald Lee Edit: Don't get me wrong though......your point is still very valid with 5 out of 8 having stud TEs. Seems like a stud TE is a star QBs best friend.
  12. I think Gilmore highlights the concept that some positions might be positions of need, but other factors preclude it from being high priority for FA or the draft. The reasoning being that we would want our #1CB to be a first class, top 10 CB. With the concept that Gilmore may still become said top CB(plenty of strong argument for this to occur), to look to replace him at this point would be very expensive(big FA dollars or high draft pick) and possibly end up having to waste talent if indeed Gilmore does improve to the next level(or 3).
  13. I think the same can be said for truly great WRs. Finding either one (TE or WR) is not an easy task.
  14. About 30% before the recent injury.......25% after it.
  15. I voted "No" purely on the information garnered this year(mainly from informed posters on this board) that Glenn is playing at a top 10 level. If he was having some struggles playing OT......sure, move him to OG and try again with a top prospect for OT.....but you don't move a player who is playing very well at one of the more important positions just to fill a need. Rather than risking whiffing at OT via the draft, better to risk whiffing at OG(and with a cheaper pick).
  16. Now that is an interesting concept which puts me right back at being to having no valid opinion of his abilities again. I might try and find a similar video(with 6+ games) from 2013. Thanks for pointing that out.
  17. I don't know. I didn't watch the first 10 games of those QBs. I know most of their stats weren't as good as EJ's......and they pretty much all had some pretty horrid games in their first 10 starts.
  18. I was a little disappointing in this thread as I thought it was going to be an analytical study to do with the chances of hitting on a TE in the draft. Generally I don't think that there are too many Bills fans who would be unhappy if we land a first class TE from the next draft.
  19. Newton, Kaepernick......or if you are talking Brees old, Rivers, Roethisberger?
  20. One of the better smiley responses I have seen. Nice one.
  21. This is his 5th year though. If he was going to show himself to be a true Franchise QB he would have done it by year 6. I can't think of any QB in the modern era that became a true Franchise QB after 5 seasons in the NFL.
  22. I don't know what it says about you that you couldn't see one drop.....but I had some time so here are all of them.... Basic Drops: 3:00 5:30 6:37 8:49 11:38 12:46 13:35 Potential catches contested by DBs: 0:05 Dropped 1:30 Caught but stepped out of bounds. 2:45 Dropped 3:51 Dropped 7:05 Dropped 7:40 Dropped 10:28 Caught 10:58 Dropped 11:10 Dropped 11:29 Dropped 13:06 Caught(Not contested, but under heavy pressure) Nearly every catch that he made was where he had good separation(or was wide open). That is a very valuable skill to have.....but like I mentioned in my earlier post, it seems like we have several WRs who can get open and catch the ball already. We are after a big strong receiving threat who can go up and use his size and strength to come down with the ball. Evans clearly does not do that in the 6 games on that video.
  23. Is that video a good indication of his play? If it is it doesn't show him in a very good light IMO. In that whole 14mins of virtually continuous Evans plays he manages just one contested catch and one high pressure catch(with many, many contested and high pressure balls being dropped). He also dropped a large number(at least to my eyes) of uncontested balls. He may be big and athletic......and be able to break away from his college level CBs.......but his hand skills were on poor display in that video. Woods or Goodwin seem to be able to get open enough to make all of the sort of catches Evans made in that video......if we draft a big physical WR, I want him to be able to go up and get the contested balls, not drop 95% of them.
  24. According to all of the depth charts I have seen, he isn't. Woods is the starting #2WR(started 12 games)......Graham is the starting #3WR(started 4 games).
  25. Well.....we did draft an OG in the 2nd round 5 years ago.
