Mork and Mindy I'm hoping that The Flash will be another good one.

Ahh....it was more straight forward than I thought.......$50 + $5 + 4×$2
-
1. You give a $20, $20, $10, $10 & $5.....and get back a $2 That's giving $63 using 6 bills(no $1) 2. A 50 cent & a nickel (The 50 cent is the one that isn't the nickel). These are fun!

It should be $27 minus the $2 the farmer keeps = $25 $25 = $30 minus $5

Who is your favorite, underrated actor working today?
Dibs replied to Deranged Rhino's topic in Off the Wall Archives
1st lead: Michael K Williams 2nd lead: Danielle Cormack (NZ/Aussie actress or some repute down here. 44 yrs old. Check out later episodes of TV series Wentworth.) -
Further irony would be that his book sales increase due to this publicity.

I feel silly forgetting about the League of Assassins as it was a major part of season 2. The rest are not really specifically Batman related. Though Deadshot was originally a Batman character, he has progressed over the last 60 years to be more of a generic DCU character typically associated with the Suicide Squad(which has become an entity in its own right over the last 30+ years). Deathstroke(again developed into his own entity) was originally linked to the Teen Titans(which had links to Batman via Nightwing/Robin, but also to Green Arrow via Arsenal/Roy Harper)......but was never a Bat-verse title. Grundy is another generic DCU villain having appeared in pretty much every book. Batman, Superman, Justice League, Swamp Thing.....and Green Arrow, etc. I didn't notice the Harley Quinn reference......I'll have to rewatch the episode. Edit: Being used heavily in a story arc does not constitute being a part of the Batman's core characters. The Joker has been used heavily in some Superman stories but this does not make him a "Superman Villain". Apart from Huntress and Ra's/assassins, all of the other villains used are either generic DCU characters(who pop into whichever title a writer wants them in) or are GA villains. -

I can see how you have gotten that impression. I think they have taken inspiration from the Nolan Batman movies in the modernization and feel of the villains. Blood is a good example. In Arrow he comes across visually very similar to the scarecrow in the BM movies.....scary mask etc. In the comics he was Brother Blood and was totally different to the TV version. There has however only been one Bat-verse character in the show(that I can think of).......and that is the Huntress. Most of the villains that have appeared have been a staple part of the generic DCU rogues gallery, rarely(if ever) encountering Batman. Merlyn and (Count)Vertigo are GA villains of long standing.....and characters such as Shado, Roy Harper & Black Canary(Lance) have also been important players in the Green Arrow comics mythos. The new Flash show looks to be interesting in that the Flash has a rogues gallery that is second only to Batman's(in the DCU)....so plenty of interesting villains for him to go up against. As a side note, I am a huge fan of the Green Arrow comic. I have been collecting it for nearly 30 years. Though I would like the Arrow TV show to have better writing, I am extremely happy that my favourite DC character has his own series that is IMO pretty good......and generally perceived as pretty good. It's a good era to be a nerd. -

Though the writing/execution has been mediocre, I have found the Arrow series to be very entertaining.....and the new Flash spinoff looks to be of similar ilk(I've seen the pilot). As an unabashed comic book nerd, I will be very content if the DCU is heavily represented on the small screen.....even if their big budget movies are crap. -
I'm surprised at how many of the recommendations so far are ones that I would recommend. The Stand, Game of Thrones, Terry Pratchett's discworld books(There are 39 of these......some are order dependent). I will add..... Anne Rice: Vampire Chronicles, Witching Hour Issac Asimov: Foundation Trilogy, Elijah Baley books, I Robot(Complete Robot for additional robot stories).....anything by Asimov really. Stephen King: IT, Dark Tower series(If you think you'd like Surreal Spaghetti Western Sci-Fi......and enjoy King's writing style) Robert Jordan: Wheel of Time series Frank Herbert: Dune(Just stick to the first book IMO). Raymond Feist: Magician(One of the best fantasy books ever written......the follow on books slowly degenerate into pulp though). Margaret Weis/Tracey Hickman: Dragonlance books(A much lighter read but very entertaining) Edit: Also, if you are open to graphic story telling(Graphic Novels.....better known as comic books)..... Neil Gaiman: Sandman(Gothic Fantasy Horror.......first GN is called Preludes & Nocturnes.....magnificent storytelling with fantastic artwork too). J O'Barr: The Crow(Pure poetry of pain.......yes, the 1994 movie was based on this book). John Constantine: Hellblazer(Supernatural horror by various writers.....I would recommend Dangerous Habits GN or Hard Time GN. Don't be put off by the horrible Keanu Reeves movie.....and look for the new Constantine TV series coming soon, it looks to have captured the feel and character very well).

Though I don't think that the OL is THE key, I think it is certainly one of the keys......and an important one that often gets overlooked with the talk of QB , D, Watkins etc. It seems to me that the QB issue has become somewhat polarized. Most people seem to be voicing that EJ has to be great for us to make the playoffs. If they were talking about making the SB, I definitely agree.......but IMO we only need to see some reasonable improvement from the QB position for this team to be able to make the playoffs. Improved QB play along side improved OL play could see our offense become dominant(mainly in the run game).

EJ dependent on Watkins or Watkins dependent on EJ?
Dibs replied to boyst's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'd have gone with a 4th option......in that either player can have a successful season independently of the other. I can foresee the scenario where EJ has improved(thus being somewhat successful) and Sammy has a difficult time adjusting to the NFL........and I can also foresee the scenario where EJ still struggles(throws picks, gets sacked, timing regularly off etc), but Sammy maximizes his oportunities, makes plays independently and generally succeeds as a rookie. -
When using the standard rules for rounding to the nearest whole numbers, 2+2 does not always equal 4. 2.4(2 when rounded) + 2.4(2 when rounded) = 4.8(5 when rounded) Therefore, 2 + 2 = 5

Bills kick off HOF game tonight!!!!!!!
Dibs replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't understand how they don't have a plan B. I'm shocked. I thought it was only the Bills who didn't have plans in place for if their top two QBs get injured. -
You obviously left out Roman Polanski to give all the others a chance, yes?

The fail rate for QB is very high. Predicting that they fail is like predicting sunshine in California. -

But at the same time they solidified the LBs, DL, WRs & secondary, and got a QB. The next offseason they added more to the WRs, LBs, RBs & secondary and addressed the OL. Perhaps there needed to be an area which got bandaided last year as there was too much to fix in one offseason. As most of the moves last offseason turned out well......perhaps giving them a "wait and see" attitude would be more appropriate. -

I'm not too sure what you mean by raw. I know that only about 1 in 8 QBs drafted between 5-36 becomes a top QB. Many of them are polished(and fail)....and many are raw(and fail). Rivers was "raw".....likely several others as well(I don't tend to follow the talking head's opinions and opt for the wait and see aproach). -

I figure we will know after the first month. I'm hoping that Williams will be a big surprise and a dramatic imptovement at LG(the Bills obviously think he will be)......but really, that's all one can do from one year to the next. Good players regress, bad players improve, good teams collapse, etc, etc. I prefer to understand where things can go bad and hope for things to go well rather than just assume things will go bad. -

That's all well and good.....but EJ might....just maybe....with a bit of luck....succeed. I'm sure you have no doubt that he will be the Bills #1 QB until he shows that he isn't going to become good......so why don't you just root for him? Why does every topic have to basically boil down to "Well, EJ is going to fail, therefore the Bills will suck regardless of <insert topic here>". I know the odds of a drafted QB succeeding in the NFL better than most. It doesn't mean that I will assume that they will fail. Some buck the odds and succeed. Until EJ shows me that he isn't going to do that, I will root for him to become a star.....you know, just for gits and shiggles.
