Dennis Dixon...let him run with the 2's next week!!!
Dibs replied to Alphadawg7's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't understand why anyone would wish that any of our players would get diarrhea. It baffles me. -
Super Bowl half time acts have to pay the NFL to play
Dibs replied to 17 Josh Allen's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Do you think the NFL should pay their SB entertainers the same amounts of money as if they were playing a private gig? -

Super Bowl half time acts have to pay the NFL to play
Dibs replied to 17 Josh Allen's topic in Off the Wall Archives
In what way could it possibly be wrong? There is a large perceived profit value for the performers so why shouldn't they pay for the oportunity to make extra money? Your other initial points regarding the NFL are likely right(in that they have special rules/laws that aply to them which is arguably unfair).....but that shouldn't influence the logic that a Madonna would make an extra $$$$$ because of performing in the SB so therefore charging her $$ to do it is simple commerce. And to all those picking on the grammar etc of the OP.......the word is "English", not "english". Throwing the first stone and all... -
It does make it difficult not seeing the whole dialog. It could potentially be a totally reasonable thing to say. For instance, if he was listing/grading each area of EJ's play, to conclude that he would never have a completion percentage above low 60s might just be a matter of fact(or opinion as the case may be).....and not necessarily an intended insult, simply pointing out he isn't going to have Peyton type accuracy. I'm thinking I should retract my initial reaction to the comment(until I see the complete dialog).

Marrone on Watkins: Annoying Response.
Dibs replied to CJPearl2's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So for the second week in a row we have a thread about a Marrone press conference where the OP either didn't read/listen to the whole thing or deliberately misquotes/take out of context a selective sentence. Who'd have thunk it? -
That is no longer true. With the cap rules as they stand, if we find a cheaper replacement for Urbik and then cut him, any cap money that is saved will get rolled over into next year's cap. In the NFL now, the savings of today make tomorrow's cap situation better.

To be fair, Jim Kelly was of a different era.....so lets look at last seasons QB performances. Below is the list of QBs that had a 64.5 or lower completion percentage in 2013. Nick Foles Russell Wilson Tony Romo Big Ben Colin Kap.. Sam Bradford Jay Cutler Alex Smith Andy Dalton Cam Newton Tom Brady Andrew Luck Mat Stafford Carson Palmer Mike Glennon RG3 Fitz Ryan Tannehill Matt Cassell Kellen Clemmens Chris Ponder EJ Jason Campbell Chad Henne Joe Flacco Matt Schaub Brandon Wheedon Eli Manning Terrelle Prior Geno Smith Hmmm....bit of a moronic statement really.

Marrone on Watkins: Annoying Response.
Dibs replied to CJPearl2's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
In Australia we have an expression "Spit the dummy" which I've always thought was a great one to use in these situations. I guess it wouldn't translate so well in the US as "Spit the pacifier" doesn't quite have the same ring to it. Epic dummy spit though . -
Virtually all of it. Btw, that article was in February. The Bills have a dead cap hit of nearly 23M now. I'm also not too sure of your point.....unless you are suggesting that new ownership will necesitate another regime change. As it stands, all of the recent regime change dead cap hits will be over after this season.....so all of that extra money in the future can be spent on our budding stars of the future.

Hehehe......well, if you make some astute comments on beer you might just get on my "this person knows a lot about that topic" list. As I don't drink beer(I know, unheard of for a Bills fan), I am looking for a beer expert upon whose opinion I can trust.

Anybody else digging the new point after TD rule?
Dibs replied to 7boogiewoogie's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think it somewhat reduces the concept of the 2 pointer. Either take your "gimme" extra point, or risk it for an extra one. When that "gimme" is no longer a (virtually)sure thing the concept is thrown out. I personally would prefer the PAT to be totally removed. TDs would be worth 7 pts......or 6pts if one opts to try for a 2 pointer. JMHO -
My usage of "untrained eye" wasn't intended as a form of being apologetic. It was to publically acknowledge that I know that there may be nuances to CB play that I could easily miss which could potentially explain why I see what I see. A bit like the EJ staring down thread/article last week. Perhaps I am a bit of an elitist as I believe that some opinions matter more than others. For example, your opinion on OL play matters more(due to your obvious expertise in that area) than many other's opinions on the OL(or more than your opinion in other areas). It isn't to say that I think my opinion is wrong or not valid.......more that I'd be willing to listen to other opinions that differ to mine. I have learnt an awful lot of knowledge from this forum. I didn't do that from insisting that my opinions on any given issue are correct. Hehe....flipping what you said.....a lot of these comments were NOT intended to be singled at you Bill. Simply trying to explain why I often put caveats on posts where I state an opinion on something that I don't consider myself to be an expert on.

True.....you and I and most are special.....but some are very special.

With my extremely untrained eye, considering all of the expert praise Gilmore gets, I keep expecting to see him stick to someonr like glue.....at least on one play. To this point I don't recall seeing that....and seeing many where he either draws a flag or loses his man. I'm really hoping that it is that human nature thing where only the negative stuff gets remembered.....but I struggle to remember any big plays from him as well. I figure we will know for sure by thd end of this season. I certainly hope he pulls it all together.
-
Wow. Really? The OP starts with a simplistcally over the top assessment. There were then 2 reasonable discussion posts. Then the OP dismisses them out of hand as not valid points to be discussed. Then JohnFH made his response to that post. Then you call him a dickhead. You sir, are a very special person.

Whaley: 'Nobody has called Bills about Spiller'
Dibs replied to qblax16's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I find it a bit ironic that we collectively complain about certain members of the media and their lack of rationality/perspective......yet in this thread there have been so many posters, that had they followed on with their questions after Whaley's definitive response on the subject, would likely be verbally abused by Whaley and expelled from covering the Bills in the future. -

Whaley: 'Nobody has called Bills about Spiller'
Dibs replied to qblax16's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's like people just want to read the things that they want to see and not read the things that they don't want to see. The full quote is as follows: "We have not been contacted by any team about C.J. Spiller," Whaley said. "These rumors are news to me, and it's exciting for you guys I guess because it gives you something to fill the newspaper with. You know I'm a straight shooter. We have not been contacted by any teams.""I can probably see where people see our depth at running back and try to connect the dots with teams that don't have depth, but again, no one has talked to us," Whaley said. -
You make a good point....and I'd say it wasn't until well into the 90's that depression had begun to be taken seriously(at least here in Australia). In the early-mid 90's, a close loved one of mine was suffering severe depression. Upon concluding a 2 week stint in hospital for assessment they were diagnosed with "unhappiness disorder". I was understandably disgusted with that. We then tried several different doctors before one would take the situation seriously. Ironically, as we found out years later, the depression was caused by schizophrenia. With the right medications, the depression and schizophrenia are well under control(though it has taken 20 years). It is a huge relief to me(and millions others I'm sure) that these things are better understood both in the medical and general world.

Thanks for handling that post so maturely......I was about to get all passive aggressive on his arse.

Chicago Media- Bills are an Easy Win
Dibs replied to jethro_tull's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think there is a big distinction between being considered the underdog(or weaker team) & that of being an easy beat. Likely wasn't media bias......just media ignorance.
