Does it not bother you that we locked up a massive amount of cap dollars in a DL that is wasted with a Rex Ryan scheme? Does it not bother you that Rex effectively stated that the defense was already built? Does it not bother you that "the plan"....to have a stellar D(already built) and add some star value to the O to make it competent in order to potentially have a 2-3 year window to make a run.....is now effectively blown up as we need to re-up the defensive talent because of Rex's scheme? I have never been so disheartened as a Bill's fan as I am now. We finally were going in the right direction....and then the hubris and disingenuousness of Rex derails the whole thing.

Twitter rumors about Bills new structure, fate of Rex/Whaley
Dibs replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
IMO this is all Pegs fault. Having a non-football brain(Terry) being advised by several other non-football brains(Kim, Brandon) on big football decisions(HC hire) is really just a rich kid playing with his billion dollar toy. Why get a Czar? Surely your GM is paid to be able to make the big football decisions. If you don't trust that he can, you need to fire him and get in somebody who you can trust. As long as Pegs wants to be hands on in the football decisions I feel we will be relying on luck rather than ability to build a good team. I am a Bills fan. This means that if I owned any of the other 31 teams I would have a great time playing with my billion dollar toy. But as a Bills fan, if I owned the Bills.....there is no way that I would tinker with the football operations. I would pay the best people to do the job....and if they failed, I would attempt to find the best people to replace them. I would let the General Manager do his job and manage the team. -
I have to admit, my brain totally skipped over it.....and as a result have added at lease one extra level of humour to the interaction. I am now sitting here chuckling at myself.

Just having a friendly dig at you. I enjoy reading your posts so I notice the "then" "than" thing (it's a bit of a bugbear for me). I thought you'd appreciate the irony.

I don't get it. You can know and eloquently explain the difference between two relatively uncommonly used words.....yet you still don't seem to know the difference between "then" and "than".

Firing Rex could save Marcel Dareus Career

Yeah, but he'd likely end up using the urinal cakes to keep the sinks clean. -
Article: Where did Rex go wrong in his first season in Bflo?
Dibs replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Thanks for that. He definitely had said(prior to being disenfranchised by Rex's system...so to speak) ...on more than one occassion, that he was very happy to restructure to keep the gang together. On the aside, I was never happy with that concept(for strictly money/cap reasons), and was pleased we found a way to sign guys without restructuring Mario. -

Just on this part.... I've seen that comment bandied around here recently and it seems contrary to my recolections. As I recall, Mario publically stated several times that he was happy to restructure(when cap issues were raised about resigning and extending Hughes and Dareus). Was there an article or quote that I missed somewhere on this topic? -

Yeah, I was being facetious. I was attempting to make the point (in a backhanded manner) that Rex was either incompetent in his thoughts, or outright lied when he joined the Bills. We locked up the players that Rex was pontificating and virtually salivating over.....only to find out that, no, we don't have the personel to be a dominating defense under Rex, and the supposed dominating defensive roster now has to be pulled apart in order for Rex to work his magic. -

I believe in trusting the coach. Rex clearly stated that he expected the #1 defense in the league with this roster, so there is no reason to start second guessing him. He's the genius after all....he's the one who really should know what makes his defense tick, shouldn't he? -
Article: Where did Rex go wrong in his first season in Bflo?
Dibs replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The article raised two very salient points which make the rest of its points moot and its conclusion illiogical. According to the article, Rex failed to understand that his blitz-crazy scheme was not needed in Buffalo, as unlike at the Jets, we have the personel to apply preasure 1-on-1. Also according to the article, Rex's blitz-crazy scheme is outdated and nigh obsolete in today's NFL. Considering the concept that Rex couldn't see or get past his penchant for using his blitz-crazy scheme when it wasn't needed, is there any reason to believe that he will be able to see that it has become generally ineffective in today's NFL? And furthering to that, when one considers that his reputation for successful and inovative defense is pretty much based upon a scheme that is now mostly obsolete, is there any reason to believe that without that defensive scheme (even if he can get past his predilection for using it) that Rex could be anything more than an average at best HC(or DC)? -
I have agreed with a vast majority of the refs rulings on these lineball catches this season. The rules are well defined and in most cases the refs deciscions are clearly following those rules. The problem as I see it is that the standard fan is having trouble undestanding the rules....and a lot of this is due to the commentators not understanding them. When Collinsworth asks for "objective" rules, not "subjective" ones just minutes after espousing the "if a kid watches it he would call it a catch" mentality...it shows that even the best commentator has no idea what they are talking about. The NFL should invest in a rules training course for media commentators and a lot of the discord regarding this would be largely disipated.

I haven't read all 13 pages so I am unsure if this has been mentioned.... Red uniforms apparently have a distinct advantage over other colours: http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2005/05/0518_050518_redsports.html http://www.bulletproofmusician.com/what-color-dress-or-tie-should-you-wear/ http://www.psychologyofgames.com/2015/02/red-vs-blue-which-should-you-choose/

Their maths is a little out....should be 0.0053 (1 in 189.5) Obviously this is still way outside expected norms.

Pegs should make them all walk home. -
This is very sad news. Bill is the heart of this forum. Here's hoping for a full and speedy recovery.

What does that mean?

Apparently not.

Ya think?

We are only allowed one per quarter.

Rex press conference - TT/EJ = The present and the future
Dibs replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
JS obviously feels so strongly in his opinions that he has become them....and we all know that opinions are like arseholes. -
Yeah, just please be careful not to tar everyone with the same brush. My biggest concern with TT, and has been all through preseason, is that he hasn't shown that he is capable of pulling the trigger on downfield throws from the pocket....at least not at a regular enough rate. When the Pats were stifling our offense through most of the game(keying the run and underneath routes), this ability from TT was sorely needed. I am hopeful that it is a confidence thing(and not a skill thing) and TT will quickly develop....but if he doesn't he will not make it as a longterm QB starter in the league IMO.
