I think you made this point(about a different player) to me the other day.... You'd think I would have remembered it. I agree with the point but....the real scouts wouldn't have know just how fast he is. I think it was that speed etc that got him up into potential top 10.....mind you, a top 10 TE would be expected to have elite physical ability. Regarding Davis, I think the combine assessments rightly elevated his stock to a top 10 prospect. There you go....watch Dibs do a 180

I don't think anyone is saying Davis is a bad football player....just that his stock seemed to be greatly elevated due to the combine. It's the concept of rating a players physical abilities above their playing abilities therefore achieving an unrealistic assessment.

I suppose this isn't to say Davis won't be awesome.... perhaps at the college level with generally weaker opposition, all the TEs could show their stuff. Maybe at the pro level, only Davis really has the physical goods to stand out....which was only truly discovered at the combine. Did I just have a bite out of both sides of the apple?

I don't think they were refering to anyone in particular but as a concept it fits to a greater or lesser degree with a lot of players.

I agree. I think they will be desperate to drop to #4(or #5) to take Hawk at value... I wouldn't be surprised if they trade down & recieve well under what the 'value chart' says they should get...better than just taking Hawk at #2.

Could someone clarify for me if I have the wrong end of the stick? As I understand, revenue generated from luxury boxes, parking, certain advertising & naming deals and sponsorships(plus more) are not pooled for shared revenue, but are used to calculate the salary cap. This means when Snyder gets an extra kabillion for his stadium deals, the cap goes up but no extra money goes to the other owners, thus Wilson has to pay more to the players without more revenue coming in. The fear is that as time progresses, the larger markets will push the cap up more & more making a higher & higher percent of running costs for lower revenue markets. I know there are lots of other aspects but is this basically it?

I get the impression a lot of people think that the higher the pick, the bigger the superstar. That is an incorrect assumption. The higher the pick, the higher the chance you get a superstar.(theoretically) Superstars however come from every round in the draft (& even undrafted) Busts only really come from the first day of the draft.(4th round down aren't expected to be good) I'm just hoping we end up with more McGees, Peters & Evens' & no Erik Flowers', Mike Williams' or even Kevin Thomas'.

This could end up a draft day trade. If when we get to pick(#8), all that's left of the prime talent is QBs & Huff & we can trade down, I say we make the deal & trade down. If we cannot trade down....take Huff?
