  1. Scoring more points each game than the opposition. My reasons for thinking that Buffalo's success hinges on this is.... If we end up with more points at the end of any given game, invariably it means we win the game. If we can do this every week & throughout the playoffs, we will win the SB. I'm a little unsure of this logic but I just cannot find a hole in it anywhere.
  2. yeah...I don't get it either. Assuming Culpepper cannot play, I don't see them being any better than us.... For that matter I can't see the Jets, Lions, Packers, Texans, or Titans being any better. That's 6 games against bottom 10 teams. Just thought I'd mention it.
  3. Try not to have expectations up too high. Usually players take a full playing season to get back to where they were. Still, a 80% Spikes on the field is a huge upgrade.
  4. Yup, Barry did alright. Personally I think your point backs up WM. If we take it as a given that our O-Line performed terribly last year, WM achieving 10th in the league last year was exemplary. Imagine what he could accomplish behind a good line.... ....with a good passing game..... .....and good play-calling..... ....and being in on 3rd downs.... .....with the players motivated around him..... No, I think he is going to be fine.
  5. No but there is an M and an E....
  6. But you certainly wouldn't add them to your rebuilding team would you? Maybe(only just maybe) you would add them to your NFC championship type team to get you over the hump ala Eagles. Players like these have not got the 'character' Marv is after. The 'character' that is wanted is 'football character'. A team player with a serious attitude towards football. It is not about being a good boyscout nor about being a rocket scientist. It's all about the football. The objective would be to fill the roster with as many talented atheletes who have this 'character' as you can. If you can't get enough to fill the roster, you make do.
  7. Now that's just silly, how could we? It's not like we were #2 in the league in 03 & 04. Emotion & motivation play a huge part in team sports. Last year the heart was taken out of the D due to bad playcalling/coaching & TKOs injury. Let's see what happens if they play with heart again this year.
  8. Like most my initial response to Whitner was "WHAT?!?!?" Then with McCargo..."AAARRRGGGHHH" Having time to analyse the picks(plus the 3-5th rounders), It seems to me to be an extremely solid draft.
  9. If you liked Bubba Ho-Tep, try a British movie called 'Shaun of the Dead'. Absolutely bloody marvelous. I don't know how much you will get into the Brit humour but I figure if you liked BH-T you'll like SOTD.
  10. Wow that narrows it down. 85% of us think we'll win between 4 & 10 games(inclusive) this year. It's good to know we have our fingers on the pulse of precognition.
  11. Harmless? A good friend of mine who happens to be a Bucs fan read the title of the thread & nearly choked.
  12. Um...that's exactly correct.... evaluation & managerial abilities do go hand-in-hand. However.... Most would see that this thread is about grading the first part...the evaluation side. After one has reached a grade on the talent drafted, one can then grade the managerial side of things...combine the two & come up with an overall assessment. Here you are (yet again) talking about the grading of the Management. As I said...to assess the management, we at some stage need a grading for the talent choices in the draft.
  13. Furthermore..... Should what Marv & Co. do effect how we grade TDs drafts? i.e. if one of last years draftees come on strong(future HOFer) & Marv stuffs it up letting him go with no compensation, should that downgrade TDs 2005 draft? I guess I see this as more an exercise in assessing the players talents(& talent evaluators evaluations) rather than the managements managerial abilities.
  14. I agree with you in that the complexities of 'the draft' & player management are many & varied. I could be wrong but I feel people generally look at grading the draft as simply(or perhaps firstly)... ...are the players drafted going to be HOFers/pro-bowlers/good players/journeymen/busts etc. Once this grading has been determined, people may chose to progress onto further aspects of said draft. There is no use even thinking about how the draftees were managed etc if all the players drafted that year were total busts. Like I said, I could be wrong but I feel pretty confident that is how most view the topic of this thread.
  15. Honestly, is there an non-castrated male on the planet who couldn't get her?
  16. Oh so true. Can you imagine if all of us on TBD were calm/rational/clear headed? Bills fan #1: "Who do you think will start at QB this year?" Bills fan #2: "I think J.P. but time will tell." Bills fan #1: "I think Nall but you are totally correct, none of us truly know." Bills fan #2: "What about the O-Line?" Bills fan #1: "I guess we'll wait & see." Bills fan #2: "yeah." I hate/love the idiots! Definition of idiot = anyone who doesn't agree with me.
  17. I tend to agree here. I'm glad he didn't come to Buffalo. I figure he would have given us just enough to delay looking for a better QB.
  18. If not one that has been discussed ad nauseam for the past couple of months or so. I'm actually finding this a more interesting discussion due to tempers generally being cooler on this issue than the issue of J.P./Holcombe/Nall. Re Volek.... I used to think his performance was a good arguement against McNair getting MVP. After the Titans lack of confidence in him this off-season I'm starting to doubt weather he has long term starter ability.
  19. Good one. You have enough time to put up this thread but you can't google 'Billy Volek' to get his age.
  20. Bills rightly seem content with their offensive line link: http://www.realfootball365.com/nfl/article...line030506.html
  21. Do you realize you constantly alter the topic discussed? The question is weather the 2001 draft was a good one or not(obviously in relation to the fact that people are grading the 2006 draft now....i.e. bust/pro-bowl). You are discussing how effective we managed said 2001 draftees. IMO, the 2001 draft was A grade. If we could emulate that this year & next year... Regarding our managing of the 2001 players....I'm not as negative as H_A. but I think we certainly could have managed them better than we did.
  22. I know what you mean. I find as the off-season progresses I gravitate towards other sports which I couldn't give 3 hoots about. It's the anticipation of waiting that's unusually cruel. I pity all the pessimists here on TBD. At least I'm an optimist & have a long wait until the season opener where we kick ass. The pessimists have a long wait for us to be slaughtered.
  23. He recently failed the Rams physical. Does not fit our new 'fast' D.
