  1. I don't think that he would fit our new system.(though I'm no expert) Apparently his speed was his worst attribute & he has a tendency of bulking up(MW style) becoming even slower. Don't we wish fast LBs in the Tampa-2? Still, if we got him really cheap, extra competition never hurt.
  2. How is this thread still on page 1?
  3. Surely you can come up with more than that. Honestly, too much, too easy. No I can't...Oh O.K., just one then... Ross Tucker??? 1 game, no starts since leaving.
  4. R.I.P. It's gotta be said....Ironhead....brain tumor....irony.
  5. *sigh* I did say... I don't know about that. How many other teams get a pro-bowler & a legit starter(future ProBowler?) out of UDFA in a 5 year period? I literally don't know but I thought this sounded quite out of the ordinary.
  6. Thanks for the info. That saves me reading & contributing to the many 'who will be our starting QB' threads. O.K.....inking in starter at QB....Nall. Thanks
  7. I disagree. You may have noticed that on most of my rebuttal points I added the word "maybe". I did this because most of the points are just opinion. To end up with a negative view on each & every possibility is unrealistic. Just as unrealistic as looking through homer glasses. Remember...his point was that we would be so bad that we would lose every game. The only way that could realistically happen is if everything goes wrong which is...surprise surprise...exactly what he predicts. Side point...I think your assessment of our O-line is wrong. Hopefully as the season starts & progresses you will be surprised rather than me.
  8. Just on this point, Moorman & Peters were undrafted FAs & therefore should probably be counted(or at least factored in) with his second day picks. There is also a few players who might yet develop in the near future. Don't read this as a defense of TDs 2nd day drafting...he clearly shows a bad record...I just thought this should be included in the assessment. Perhaps his best move might be Moorman & Peters. 1 pro-bowler & 1 potential from UDFA is pretty good.
  9. Gee, I'd say if all of those things happen we could win the Super Bowl. I don't get it. Last season we won 5 games. We won them with.... Key injuries. Terrible coaching Terrible play calling Terrible player management and most importantly..... A virtual systemic lack of motivation and effort(sans special teams) We have... added several players who are better than the players they are replacing. have a couple of young players who are(should/could) improving. added high motivation type players across the board. Getting players back from injury. Theoretically have a coach who can inspire his players to play hard. We have a schedule where we play 5 games against teams with worse records than we had. Everything might go bad & we win less games than last year but... 50% of things might go O.K. & we win between 7-9 games.
  10. That's a very optimistic statement.
  11. Tee hee. He said ninnies.
  12. Wow, way to be negative. The only way we will know if Marv is in over his head is by waiting a couple of years to see how his team is formulating & developing. There is no question that his first draft went counter to what most thought it should but it has been shown subsequently that there was a definite method to the supposed 'madness'. I can understand people giving up on TD since he had 5 years to implement his plan & it came to nothing. I can't understand people giving up on Marv before the team has even had one snap. Just because people in power might make descissions that you disagree with, it does not mean that they are wrong. It might simply mean they are different.
  13. Rebuttal time 1: Um...maybe....but it gives us 3 chances for one to pan out. This is probably his best point but several teams appear in 'guess mode' at QB. 2: Um...maybe....if the glass is half empty. If half full, we have a LT that most analysts say is competent(not a star). New LG & C via FA wich are upgrades. RG should be healthier than last year. RT is a future stud/star. 3: Um...maybe...but at least we have a receiver who looks like he might step up to become a #1 WR unlike half the NFL. Speaking of height at WR, wasn't the NFL leader at catches, yards & TDs the 5-9 Steve Smith? Wasn't the #2 yardage leader the 5-10 Santana Moss? 4: Um...maybe....but also a former NFL coach of the Year who's team the following year was devastated by injury & he had massive power struggles when his GM changed. We managed to hire the best available innovative & experienced Offensive Coordinator. 1/3 of NFL teams had to make do with first year rookie Offensive Coordinators this off-season. 5: Um...this one is ridiculous. Most analysts, though calling Whittner a reach, had him down as one of the most ready to play players in the draft. Usually the draft provides very little immediate help regardless of its perceived grade. Also, a blunder is only a blunder if it does not pan out. In 4 years time we will know, until then, it's all just speculation. 6: Um...what planet is this guy from? We have 5 games against teams who had worse records than us last year and another 2 against teams with losing records. It's not the easiest schedule but it certainly cannot be considered 'hard'. What a FERNIDIOT
  14. Agreed...no brainer The rest..... Big bust, no worries, but worst bust in NFL history You've got to be kidding. It happens all the time to top draft picks(in the top 4) Just because he is our bust doesn't make him an especially bad bust. To back up my point... Top 4 picks from 1990-2002 (please excuse if I called someone a bust you like ) I make it at least 27 busts out of 52. It's about 50%. 1990 Jeff George - bust Blair Thomas - bust Cortez Kennedy Keith McCants - bust 1991 Russell Maryland - O.K. but bust for #1 Eric Turner Bruce Pickens - bust Mike Croel - bust 1992 Steve Emtman - bust Quentin Coryatt - bust Sean Gilbert - O.K. but bust for #3 Desmond Howard - bust 1993 Drew Bledsoe Rick Mirer - bust Garrison Hearst - O.K. but bust for #3 Marvin Jones 1994 Dan Wilkinson - bust Marshall Faulk Heath Shuler - bust Willie McGinest 1995 Ki-Jana Carter - bust Tony Boselli Steve McNair Michael Westbrook - bust 1996 Keyshawn Johnson Kevin Hardy - bust Simeon Rice Jonathan Ogden 1997 Orlando Pace Darrell Russell - bust Shawn Springs - O.K. but bust for #3 Peter Boulware 1998 Peyton Manning Ryan Leaf - bust Andre Wadsworth - bust Charles Woodson 1999 Tim Couch - bust Donovan McNabb Akili Smith - bust Edgerrin James 2000 Courtney Brown - bust LaVar Arrington Chris Samuels Peter Warrick - bust 2001 Michael Vick - bust? Leonard Davis - bust? Gerard Warren - bust? Justin Smith 2002 David Carr - ???? Julius Peppers Joey Harrington - bust Mike Williams - bust
  15. I think what happened last year cannot be confined to individual players. In my view it was an overall team effect. Sure, certain players contributed to the team spirit lacking but so too did the terrible play calling, key injuries & the follow through effect of allowing well respected veterans to leave. Combine all that with an over-confidence from the previous year & the entire team(virtually) under-performed both as individuals & as a team unit.
  16. But if we get off his back, how will he carry us to a SB run?
  17. TASKER!!! Now that I've read everyones thoughts/views, it is obvious to me that Tasker was the best Bill ever.
  18. If Elway played 2 seasons fewer than he did(say due to injury), he would still be considered one of the greatest even though he had lost 3 superbowls & won none. Kelly lost 4 superbowls & won none. Dilfer & Johnson are 1 win-0 losses in the superbowl. "Simple as that."?? Yes I would think saying winner/loser is a bit simplistic.
  19. You apear to be making a good arguement against Kelly.
  20. I didn't know about the Drew for HOF push....I don't want to resurface an ugly/bad argument but to me, that sounds ridiculous. I'd say it would be a tough enough job to argue Bledsoe being a 'top' let alone a 'HOF' QB.
  21. I think some on this thread missed a little line at the start... It's not an attempt to elevate Bledsoe, it's simply a view on Aikman & how Bledsoe-like he looked in his last 2? years at the Boys without his supporting cast. I think your Brady analysis is correct. Brady is a HOF caliber QB. His ability & awareness has shown he can elevate an average team to greatness. Bledsoe = Testaverde. Give either of them protection & they can be outstanding. My point was simply Bledsoe=Testaverde=Aikman. I view that if Bledsoe(or Testaverde) were with Aikmans 'Boys, they would have had similar success to Aikman.
  22. Rumored people. Rumor:- 1. A piece of unverified information of uncertain origin usually spread by word of mouth. 2. Unverified information received from another; hearsay. I'd love it to be great(I'm a comic book head) but I fear the actor just looks wet.
  23. He said he didn't want to share. obviously it was a wet one.
  24. MIKE WILLIAMS anagram MAIM, KILL. WISE. hmmm
  25. Well, I'd say it, but I don't know it.
