  1. Well....there was not one optimistic part to the article. The only begrudging positive factor he gives is that TD has left....& he quickly dismisses it. The potential lucky breaks that can happen to the team he lumps together & basically scoffs at. Is it really that negative? Um...yes, it is. There is not one positive aspect to it what so ever....unless you count him suggesting we are so bad that the top draft pick we get because of it will be a positive.
  2. I hate this sort of mentality. Not only does it advocate that losing is better....what about the fans???....but it implies that the 1 extra rookie obtained high in the next years draft will be enough for us to make a serious run. That's ridiculous. People often say that Football is the ultimate team sport. People often seem to totally forget that when assessing each team. 2001 Patriots 2004 Steelers 2004 Chargers 2005 Bears The list goes on & on. Did these 'teams' appear anywhere near the level they performed in these years previously? I'm not saying that we are one of those teams. What I am saying is that to totally discount the concept is either due to a natural emotive error or is deliberately done to perhaps illicit emotion from the readers.
  3. Word is they want Pennington to win the QB battle they have going over there. They brought in another weak arm so he feels delusions of adequacy & his confidence gets a boost.
  4. Linky? I've searched everywhere, where did you read this?
  5. However, the Patriots and the Buccaneers are examples of teams who didn't draft big guys early nor often. It worked. The Saints and the Cowboys are examples of teams who drafted big guys early and often. It hasn't worked. I don't disagree with the importance of the O-Line, just with the single mindedness of how one should be formed. Perhaps it just didn't pan out this draft(to take O-Line in the 1st day). If you assume Whitner is a much, much surer thing than any O-Lineman after D'Brick, who & where would we have taken? If Youboty was a steel where we got him, that leaves the McCargo pick(s). We could not have gotten Mangold, Justice nor Lutui where we were. I want 1st day O-Line picks too but I also want our picks(whoever they are) to pan out. Most here on TBD would have been happy enough with Justice being picked at the #8 spot. If we had picked him it would not have made it a good pick but at least we could have said....."I'm happy, the O-Line was addressed so all will be well."
  6. No, you go see if they are alive & take them to the nearest vet(most take them in free). What's the difference between an injured cat family pet or an injured dog family pet. That's just felinist.
  7. Over here(Australia) it's a crime to hit an animal & not stop to see if it is alright. Ooooh, it's dark & scary....better not stop because...well....it's night.
  8. Go for another beer?
  9. Fletch??? I don't get it. Isn't a comedy meant to be funny? Run Awayyyyyyy.......
  10. That statement does not mean as much comming from 'DonteWhitner'.
  11. Good post. It is my personal belief that the 'son of superman' sub-plot in the movie was a late addition. I can just hear the writers saying "hmmm, we still need something to grab the emotions more." It is the only thing I can think of for why they would muck around so heavily with the Superman mythos. The sub-plot could have been totally cut out without changing the movie at all, so why have it in there?
  12. Whenever multiple D-Linemen are chosen from the same school in the 1st round I am a bit skeptical. In McCargo's case there were three(McCargo along with Mario Williams & Manny Lawson). I'm hoping like hell it was McCargo who helped make the other two look better but....I have a feeling that all three will not perform at the level expected in their pro careers. I also have the same reservations when looking at offensive players from the same school.
  13. I think most of you guys are right. It stands to reason that a QB who can win a game...i.e. Favre, Elway etc....will take a few more chances(throw more difficult passes). If a QB throws an easy 2 yard pass on 4th & 7 when he should have tried to thread the needle to a receiver 10 yards down field it will reflect well on this 'accuracy' system. It does not IMO reflect the 'abilities' of the QB.
  14. K.C. Joiners ESPN Insider article about accurate passers has Holcomb as #6. LINKY For those who can't use insider.... Who was the NFL's most accurate passer in 2005? Whenever I bring up the issue of a quarterback's accuracy, I invariably receive a lot of feedback from readers wanting me to clarify what I mean. An accurate pass can be described simply as a pass thrown within the receiver's catching frame -- the area where the receiver can reach out and get his hands on the ball. If the ball arrives within this frame, it is ruled an accurate pass. Otherwise, it is ruled an inaccurate pass. Another question I am frequently asked is how do I account for passes thrown well over the head of a receiver, as well as passes thrown away or knocked down. I use a similar line of thinking to the catchable pass idea proposed in the TYPCA metric. Any pass knocked down or thrown away is removed from the accuracy percentage calculations altogether. I also remove passes attempted when the quarterback is hit just as he throws the ball. I do count intentional overthrows on deep passes as pass attempts, but they do not count as inaccurate passes. It is a subjective metric, but I use these rules to clarify the metric as much as possible. I use a percentage basis to rank the quarterbacks, with the lowest inaccuracy percentage being the best. The following is a breakdown of the top five quarterbacks in this metric: As for where some of the other big-name quarterbacks ended up, here are the top 15 quarterbacks in this category: 1. Marc Bulger -- 10.2 2. Carson Palmer -- 11.2 2. Brian Griese -- 11.2 4. Matt Hasselbeck -- 11.8 4. Mark Brunell -- 11.8 6. Kelly Holcomb -- 12.3 7. Brad Johnson -- 12.5 8. Peyton Manning -- 12.6 9. Byron Leftwich -- 13.2 10. Drew Brees -- 13.8 11. Aaron Brooks -- 13.9 12. David Carr -- 14.0 13. Anthony Wright -- 14.4 14. Chris Simms -- 14.6 15. Steve McNair -- 15.0
  15. No. I am Ron Mexico.
  16. Not worth $54 mil.....could reach $54 mil. Huge difference. Who knows what clauses are in there? 4000yards, 30 TDs, Pro-bowls, super bowls? It has probably got triggers to pay him like a top 3 QB if he performs like one. Still way too much though.
  17. What prompts you to think this? Does Ralph have a history of meddling? Marv has always said that RW knew his position & would 'always' defer to the expertise of the experts he hired. More likely (as you said) it was TDs doing. It's far easier to imagine him overstepping his bounds than RW.
  18. I don't care....I'm turning this into a cat-love fest. When I first got my boy(Burmese) Musashi, my wife & I were still travelling up to my in-laws every Friday night to stay the weekends with them....about 1 hours drive away. We would take him up with us in his little cat-box, seat-belted into the back seat....he now loves drives in the car. The in-laws had lever door handles on all of their internal doors. They had to replace all of them with smooth round knobs since Musashi learned to jump...grab...drop & kick....thus opening the doors. Nowhere was safe from him. Those that think cats dumb have obviously never lived with one.
  19. Hey! I resemble that remark.
  20. Geez, if all that is true you have my sympathies......losing the animals too. This is where being a rabid fan can help though. Remember the times when you were right into football? When you were eating/breathing/existing just for the following Sunday to come around so you could see your beloved Bills? When you have that mentality going, **** in life fades out(at least while you are in football-head mode). It doesn't make things any better....& it isn't easy when we are not a good team....but it can help one forget about their worries for a little. Good luck and....GO BILLS!!!!!
  21. Gee that's sad. PFW believe that half the leagues backups are better than our potential starter. That mag has really gone downhill. Do you realize they do not even list Peters on their up & comers OT list. ...also....one of the 3 clubs they predict as performing better/worse by more than 2 games over last season is the Giants. From memory...down 6 wins from 11 to 5. I hate the Giants but, huh???? Did something happen to them that I am unaware of in the off-season? I figure they had predicted too many teams at plus 1 or 2 & not enough at minus 1 or 2 & the Giants were the last one on the list.
  22. ....and special teams!!! How can you not get excited about the potential of three-peating at #1 in Special Teams.
  23. This sums it up for me as well.
  24. Maine Coon.....that's the really huge(size) breed isn't it? They're awesome. I totally agree about dog-cats. I have Burmese which are renowned for acting like dogs. They come to greet you when you get home, roll onto their backs for a tummy rub.....demand play-time(in a fun way)......play fetch with things. When you end up with a cat that acts a bit like a dog it's the best of both worlds.
