I'm not up to date on what veteran backup QBs earn but $875,000 seems fairly low. To cut him, we would have to replace him & that means signing another QB to a contract to be the #2. That contract is bound to cost more than the $875,000 & will have waisted the 1.5Mil that KH walks away with. *for the sake of argument, I'm assuming the coaches do not want Nall as a #2 since he is the #3* The new QB would then have to learn the system, etc, etc.....it should all have been done weeks ago if it was going to happen. The only reason I can see to cut him is that if he is so far regressed as to be totally useless. The fact he does not suit the offensive system & yet remains the #2 QB makes me think he has something to offer.....esp. since this regime brought in Nall themselves. Basically, why give more money to someone else who you can be pretty sure will not do as good a job? ....unless there is a sure fire FA QB out there who everyone knows will be able to step in and do a better job. If there is, who is he?

Actually his cap number this year is only $1,375,000 If we cut him it would cost us another $125,000 or cap hit of $1,500,000. If money is an issue, we keep him.

Others with more knowledge might be able to help here. Does 1 FB imply that we run more plays without a FB? Do we see more 3 & even 4 WR sets...or two TEs? With Parrish & Reed both effectively being slot receivers, I am starting to feel that Fairchild has been a little misleading & will go with an offense that is closer to the Rams than what he has been showing/saying. WM being used more in the passing game.....3/4 WR sets, spreading the field.... Does this make sense or am I dreaming?

I'd say a lot of the Gates love is derived from his awesome highlight reel 'helicopter' TD the other week. People see 1 cool play & assume the player is a keeper. Caveat: I'm not saying he has no talent, I'm pointing out that national TV coverage improves the public perception of his talent.

Once the Pats agreed in priniple to a trade, they opened up the doors for this. If they had said(& they still might have) "Go see what you can get & we'll let you know." Yes, I'm sure it's painful. Yes it is probably really painful(esp. if infected) but some perspective here would be good. SS is a highly tuned athlete at the top of his game. When he gets an ingrown toenail in preseason he is well advised to rest it & let it fully heal, ready for the season opener. He isn't saying the pain is so bad he just can't continue. What's up with the rest of you schmucks? If you want a reminder of what really intense pain can be.... Get a jalapeno pepper & squirt it directly into your eye. You will not be able to move a muscle until the pain subsides. Then tell me that an ingrown toenail is the worst. Honestly.
