  1. Let's see, Willis McGahee.....2TDs Special Teams.....1TD JPL.....3TDs I predict.... Bills 42 Jets 0
  2. I'll be there with you in spirit screaming at my computer while listening to online radio....well whispering loudly really....the wife is usually asleep at 3am(kickoff my time.)
  3. shhhh, for him to be joking, that means some of us were the fools.
  4. Hey, I was thinking the exact same thing.
  5. So tell me, how does McGee or Fletcher show you they are interested in staying with the team? Obviously any player who is up for their BIG contract will look at other teams if the team they are with will not offer up the money. Has not WM bought a house in the Buffalo area? How many players have done that? Sounds to me like you are making assumptions based on a dislike of the player. The reason IMO he is worth minimum a 1st rounder is that he constantly performs at a top 15 (or better) level regardless of the OL or help he is getting from the passing game. Since a majority of RBs (70%ish) chosen in the second half of the first round never achieve this level, it is a safe assumption that rather than gamble, a club would give their 1st for him.....plus most analysts still see him with a huge upside. Using Henry as an example helps show that sometimes the talent assessors of the NFL teams know what they are looking at....i.e. what has he done since leaving? Also, if you think he can bolt & get a huge contract, you are acknowledging his talent is easily worth a 1st rounder.
  6. Am I the only one here who thinks he might just be being a bit facetious?
  7. Where did you here this? I've seen a few on this board alude to the thought that he might do this but yours is the first to claim that he has said this himself to the media. Can anyone else back this claim? It does not sound correct. Also, if we were to trade him(not likely IMO), there is no way we don't get a 1st rounder for him.
  8. If Clements walks & Youboty isn't the guy, why do we have to spend a 1st round pick on DB again? Why couldn't we replace him via FA? I haven't looked at who might be available but what's wrong with the concept?
  9. I know this is all wishful thinking but I think this team has a CHANCE to go 15-1 also.
  10. Just because you get tired or are running out of time does not mean you forget information that you've acquired. I don't expect the experts to know every 53 man roster & the talent levels of all those players....it would be nice, but only fans like us tend to delve that deeply into our own teams. I do however expect them to know the major names & if a no-name (to them) pops up in the stats(ala Denney), to recognize it was previously a no-name. By saying that Denney leads our resurgent D, it shows that he does not even know who Spikes, Fletcher or Schoebel are let alone any of the up & comers. Why play devil's advocate on this one?
  11. Wouldn't that be sweet. Evans & Price out wide one on one with David Barrett(if he is healthy) & their 6th round rookie Coleman. I'm salivating at the thought.
  12. Wow, this is getting better than the "JPs great" "JP sux" thread.
  13. I think perhaps the point being made is that it is suspicious that comments made 9 months ago surface now. IMO this in no way takes away the role-model aspect of Coles nor his immense courage to come forward in the first place to bring the terrible issue into the NFl watching public's awareness. It may well be somebody else raised it in the media & Coles has responded to questioning....I don't know. The fact is that it is definitely suspicious if it has never been in the media until now.
  14. That's right....I think Buffal0 Bill5 needs to look up the definition of certain words(in this case homosexual) before calling others idiots.
  15. Oh no.....we lost that one.
  16. Agreed....to a point. I remember my outsiders views of Roethlisburger(& I'm in no way comparing the talent of the two QBs here, just individual perceptions). I was all..."Yeah, OK, his team keeps winning games, but it's not like he's actually doing more than simply not losing them. That doesn't mean he is going to be 'great'." As things progressed though & I got to see some of his decision making, play making & sack avoidance skills etc, etc, I slowly changed my long term view of him. Point being, wins don't mean JP will get respect.....wins allow him the opportunity to earn respect if his play warrants it.
  17. Deadwood......The Shield is right up there. House is very good & very entertaining but simply does not have the same caliber writing.
  18. Well, taking WM out on third downs was a corker.
  19. But our coach now is a Dick.
  20. Exactly. The thing is, a lot of people writing in this thread seem to think that by arguing a good case for/against, it can in some way effect the outcome of what JP will develop into. Time will tell whether this improvement we have all seen in him will continue or whether it doesn't(to the level required). Anyone who actually believes they know to what level JP will develop is at best misguided.
  21. But the point becomes...why quibble over the semantics used? Once JDG flung that first pointed barb the rest is progressive stupidity on both sides(great way to alienate yourself Dibs ) I actually had no problem with your first post HA since you acknowledged what was being said(that JP has shown improvement) & then you pointed out where he could improve....not overly pointed or barby. I believe the expression about 'raining on a parade' has something to do with JDGs origonal post & the reactions of people to it IMO are quite justified.
  22. I was getting to the end of the thread thinking..."Gee, Simon's post has been misread/misinterpreted & attacked by several people here...." I don't know(or care) what you have said in the past. You clearly stated your acknowledgement of a coaching upgrade & perhaps were implying that Marv should be getting some of the credit as well as the players. Everyone else should just pull their heads in.
  23. No.The fundamental differences between the Losman-optimists and the Losman-pessimists is.... JLP-Os, when posting initially(not responding) tend to state how "JPL looks like he is improving & we might have a good one"(although I honestly cannot recall hardly any posts being this openly positive on JPL). This tends not to be offensive to anyone since JPL has in fact appeared to be playing far better than last year. Their motive for said initial post is obvious that they are encouraged by his improvements & are hoping for his further developments. JLP-Ps, when posting tend to state JPLs weaknesses often totally ignoring his improvement. Their motive for said post is...???? The only thing I can think of is that the pessimists believe he should be far better at this point in his career than he is & that he is a slow developer and that every other poster should see this 'truth'. The main difference really is that the pessimist draws a defensive reaction from not only the optimist but also those of us who are neutral & are happy to wait & see. Or to put it a different way....the pessimist gets the crap throwing started so we end up with 10 page threads of entertainment.
