  1. But he made a mistake for another team....not the Bills. That makes him good.....since he obviously didn't hinder us. If he is a Bill & makes an error, that makes him bad. It's quite simple really.
  2. I'm quite encouraged by the moves. Peters now gets his chance to shine in the marquee OL possition.....Gandy's play should improve with his more natural possitioning. My only question is Pennington. Can one of the OL analysers here give us their thoughts on his limited play so far this year? If he can be solid, that would be huge. A 7th round pick. Marv, DJ & McNally will deserve a lot of credit if he can perform for us.....fingers crossed.
  3. I'll just add a qualification if I may..... It seems to me that before opposing defences have seen a new QB....for a game or three.....said QB can(& often does) perform at a level that is perhaps higher than their currant skill level. I'm not saying Romo will be a bust...or a star....but considering it was his first action, he performed like so many before him. Let's see what he does in 1,2,3 weeks time.
  4. So does every QB in the league.....who was it this week? Leftwich, McNabb, Gradkowski, Plummer, Leinart, Bledsoe.....or last week? Carr, E.Manning, Vick, Brunell, Huard, Grossman. He needs do the good things far more consistantly but.....I wish people would stop making out that he is the only QB in the league who makes bad descisions. Where is it we expect him to be at this stage????? He was abysmal last year & is markedly improved this year.....still a long way to go but I ask again..... Realistically, what level of development should he be at? We knew he was 'raw' when he was drafted....he missed his rookie year.....he was rubbish last year.....we have a terrible OL.....new system.....mistake prone offence....how EXACTLY should he be playing now?
  5. Here, here. I like your use of the word 'team' there. I could swear that every time we start mounting a drive, somebody on the offence stuffs up. Whether it is missed block, a stupid penalty, a bad play-call, a dropped ball, a miss thrown ball.....it seems that every single time we move 60 yards down the field & then are bumped back out of field-goal range or commit a turnover. The point is that JP can only manage what he is given. People may not realize but completing a 3rd & long pass is not an easy ask....particularly with a porous line. When the TEAM starts making less mistakes, I imagine so too will JP.
  6. But that's the thing isn't it? How can you deny that JPL has shown some great ability in some of his playing action. For you to look at an opposition QB & already put him up as "showing something" as if he already outstrips JP after 1 outing you are being overtly biased against our QB. You picked out the MIA managed game as if it was the norm. I listed 4 games where JP played with class.....also, what would you call Roethilburgers rookie season stats for the most of it? I'd call it quite similar to how JP played in the MIA win(& without a top OL) I will disagree strongly with anyone who proclaims within a QBs 1st 20 games or so whether said QB is going to be great....or going to suck. For every Brees(who sucked in his 1st 20 games) there is a Mirer(who shone in his first 20 games). We can compare stats all we like & say "he's crap" "he's shown good stuff" till the cows come home but in the end he will be how he will be. It would be a lot nicer if he could play behind a decent OL though.
  7. I assume you meant Gradkowski.... I think you clearly show how ones involentary bias skews logical analysis. You obviously have never looked through the stats of all those players you mentioned but if you did you'd find that JP is right there with them(give or take). Let's quickly look at this bit though....QBs who have all shown more in their first 15 starts...... I guess you base Leinart on.... His KC loss....35-22-253 2-1 91.7QBR & his CHI loss.....42-24-232-2-0 88.6QBR & I guess you base Gradkowski on... his NO loss....31-20-225-2-0 107.6QBR & his CIN win.....44-25-184-2-1 72.5QBR what about JPLs.... KC win 16-9-137-2-0 124.2QBR or MIA loss 26-13-224-3-0 102.1QBR or MIA win 18-11-83-1-0 90.7QBR or MIN win 32-23-224-1-0 101.6QBR Where have they shown more??? Brees had 76.9QBR in his first 16 starts Leftwich had 73.0QBR in his first 13starts(15 games) Grossman has only played 14 games(13 starts) & has a 75.3QBR....his first 3 years were....74.8, 67.9,& 59.7 Even Palmer in his first year as a starter(13games&starts)(2nd year player) was 77.3QBR I can easily understand how people can look at our players & see them for being better than they are due to the desperate wanting for it to be true......I will not ever be able to understand how fans of this team see players for worse than what they actually are due to wanting it to be true. How does that work?
  8. For the sheer irony of it I'd be happy to stomach another Cowboys SB win myself.
  9. No worries. All's cool.
  10. Sure.....no worries there. In a court of law I might expect to see behaviour along those lines. The objective is to win within the rules. When I'm talking to another human being however, I expect a certain amount of respect & honesty. If you'd given a 'nod & a wink' to inform me that you were 'practicing', I'd more than likely play along with you.....without that, what you are doing is simply rude.
  11. I didn't say Bledsoe as a rookie.....when I refered to Bledsoe & sacks I was refering to when Brady replaced Bledsoe....which now I look it up was not that much different anyway
  12. Sorry....a few days ago....my mistake. You know the one I ended saying..... "I just don't understand why you would throw out an idea that you have said multiple times is a waste of time(with your initial post being neutral to the idea) & then argue against the obvious with it....& take offence when people point out what it is you are doing." If you simply must argue for the sake of arguing you could at least acknowledge the oppositions points as being valid when you know it to be true. I personally like the arguments on this board so as to hear others opinions & if the arguments are good....I'll change or adapt mine based on the new thoughts. You seem just to argue to maintain an argument regardless of the points being made. link
  13. What's that got to do with his pocket awareness? So his "one of the best" OL crumbles in the playoffs? It's all subjective to why he crumbles in the playoffs.....IMO his brain freezes just enough that his normally brilliant playcalling is hindered....thus reducing the entire offences effectiveness.
  14. Harbaugh 1997 41 sacks Manning(ROOKIE) 1998 22 sacks ONLY 22 sacks as a rookie!!!! If I had called you out on just arguing to be a prat, would you have admitted it or would you have kept it up like the thread last week?
  15. NO!!!!! Manning has great pocket awareness. A statue has no mobility nor pocket awareness. Check out the colts sacks stats prior to Manning & post Manning. There was a massive difference to their sacks allowed.....just as their was in NE post Bledsoe.
  16. How bad are people making him out to be???? Most posts I see on him(apart from the emotional "he's a bum" posts simply say that he is well past his prime & that he is perhaps a decent QB who becomes a bad/game losing QB behind a below average OL. If you think others are saying otherwise......respond to them as such. Don't respond to my posts as if I am one of those people. If you are "simply" saying that he is not as bad as people make him out to seem....... why not "simply" say that?????
  17. There is a difference between a statue(Bledsoe) & a QB who does not have good mobility(Marino). Marino had supreme pocket awareness & could avoid sacks with minor moves. *Brady has IMO quite decent mobility*
  18. I knew you'd mention the 'Brady' factor. The facts are that Bledsoe at QB had the Patriots being perenial doormats. The were considered one of the worst teams in the NFL. Yes Brady is a champion, but Bledsoe showed absolutely nothing with that team. The dropoff from Bledsoe to Brady was 5-11 to Superbowl win. Bledsoe had lost the first 2 games of 2001 before getting injured.
  19. I agree with you that Bledsoe has played behind some below average OLs.....this only highlights his deficiencies. He could still be a fine QB if he lands behind a good OL with good talent around him(just as so many others would). The end result is that DB is a statue who does not have the patients/skills for the short passing game.
  20. Hehe.....cover who....it might be an old pun, but it's new to me....funny.
  21. I don't remember the exact timing(or year) of that but the 2002 season was Bledsoes big one for us. Bledsoe did not play well with us after his first half season....2003 73.0QBR.....2004 76.6QBR....add to that his NE 1999 75.6QBR....2000 77.3QBR....& his 2 game 2001 75.3QBR & you have a QB who has only been good in the first half of the seasons he starts with a new team. Summarizing..... Below Average at NE.....his replacement makes the OL look great. Awesome 1st half season with Bills.....below average next 2.5 seasons.....even JPL has a better QBR than Bledsoe did. Good 1st half season with Cowboys.....below average next 1 season & is replaced(again) by a younger nobody. Trying to argue that Bledsoe (still) has it is like pushing schit up a hill.
  22. There is more to being a good QB than just stats. That being said however.... DBs problem seems to be that when opposing teams figure him out, he simply regresses. 2005 second half of season...games 9-16 255-144-1620-10 TDs-11 INTs....70.7QBR which is a massive contrast to his first half of the 2005 season...games 1-8 244-156-2019-13 TDs-6 INTs....97.4QBR He was the same with us in 2002.
  23. I agree 100%
