  1. At what point do you start hoping that Miami wins the rest of their games so that not only we get a better pick but they get a worst one? or At what point do you start hoping that some of our better players get injured(but only a little) because they are trying too hard to win? How could you watch a game if you were hoping we lose? If we lose a game, I don't mind the thought of "Oh, well at least we get a better pick" attitude but.....how can anyone go into a game hoping we lose? It baffles me.
  2. My initial reaction was "Yeah....set up a gameplan around him(& the OL) for a change!"....& I was typing away when I realized..... Perhaps......just perhaps.....DJ is a very clever coach. I play poker regularly(local tournaments). There is two main types of players. The loosy-goosy types who go all-in a lot, see the flop with 7-9 offsuited, & generally play for a bit of luck. The other type patiently wait for the cards/situation to come around so they can strike (though much more infrequently) at a more successful rate. DJ coaches like the second type of poker player. If you're percentages are higher by playing conservative.....then the smart person does exactly that. I'm not saying the playcalling overall is excellent(Fairchild IMO is pretty much gone next year) but if the overall gameplan being used can beat the Pack & keep it tight against the Colts....perhaps it is the higher percent way to go.
  3. Please...please...please.....read all of my post before you give me head-slapping 'dohs'. I like to think of myself as the sort that wont usually draw the ' ' smiley. I stated..... "The facts are that no team can win a SB without having at least a good team" If Manning gets a good team around him, I would expect him to win it all. AND....I was referring to Brady's first SB win in my follow on point. As it happens, Manning hasn't won a SB & if he wins this year(with a sub-standard defence) then more than likely(95%) I will class him as the #1 QB since I cannot see that poor run-D being overcome by his brilliance all the way through & if he does it that will be absolutely amazing. My point summarized for you again..... Good team + Great QB = SB win. Great team + OK/good QB = SB win. Therefore when the Great QB wins(without great team)....he gets the credit he deserves. If you want practice 'debating'...keep away from the "you're a dufus argument"....especially when you don't read(comprehend?) the point being stated.
  4. Now that's a leading question if ever I've seen one......& I have......seen one that is.
  5. What is wrong with you? We just lost to the 8-0 Colts by 1 measly point....& we beat the Packers the previous week. Yep....Houston, Tennessee & Miami are all looking far better than us.
  6. But he was.....just as....if the Colts win a SB, Manning will be the main reason for them winning the SB.....just as Favre, Montana & Elway were all the main reason for their teams winning the superbowl. It's not like the Pats had a Ravens/Bucs type D & heavy run attack & Brady simply managed things. The facts are that no team can win a SB without having at least a good team.....& as it happens, Bradys first SB winning team is generally considered one of the weakest SB winners ever. Do you remember that year? The Patriots were considered relatively devoid of talent & the Rams were chockas full of it. They squeeked through nearly every game......sure they played like a great 'team' which is why Belichick got so much credit. The only real players that shone that year for them were Brady, Vinatieri & maybe Milloy & Law.....Seymour looked like a promising young rookie.
  7. Totally agree. IMO regardless if we stay with JP, or get a(some) vets.....we need to start drafting QBs on the second day. 3 QBs drafted in 20 years is disgusting.....no wonder we have not had a QB since Kelly.
  8. I won't comment the positives you mentioned.....but the negatives..... #1 If what you say is true about locking on to his receivers.....his INT% is fairly low & his %completion is fairly high. I'm thinking if you are correct on this one, it has only in very limited situations this season....maybe the rough patch of Chi & NE....the stats do not support this 'negative'. Considering he rarely gets 3 step drops or quick passing plays, one would think that if what you say is true then the stats would clearly reflect the hypothesis. #2....I would say that instead of sometimes throwing the ball away, he takes a sack causing a fumble. He has not however committed a turnover since the break(2 games)...& at least 2 of his fumbles(lost) were from complete blindside hits. #3.....just opinion but....I feel the coaches insistence that he stay in the pocket is hindering his decision making on when to scramble & avoid some sacks. The coaches (& JP) have emphasized the importance of him learning pocket passing decisions.....to me this is obviously affecting his 'legs' game.
  9. I don't understand your point on Brady daq. Your sig. line says..... "Manning > Brady > Rest of NFL" You have Brady as the #2 player in all of the NFL. Surely it is pure knit-picking to say he won a superbowl as a 'team' effort or not etc, etc, etc, blah, blah, blah. If you acknowledge him as the second best player in the NFL, what do you care if someone rates him as the #1? I could see your frustration if you thought he was just a 'very good' QB on a great team....like...IMO....Aikman....and people were putting him up as the #1 player in the NFL but basically calling him a HOFer & getting upset all the time that others put him ahead of your #1 is silly. IMO, both sides have decent arguments.....neither can prove themselves right because it all comes down to opinion on what factors are more important to a QB.
  10. Actually my opinion is opposite to that. Try not to be so "this is the way it is". Apart from the concept of.....how can one be so definitive on subject matter that is so.....subjective....if you go & change such a non-bendable position it sticks out like a sore thumb. Basically....don't show so much back bone....see the reality that your opinion could be wrong & avoid being so dogmatic on situations that are literally impossible to be 'sure' on. I know a majority of posters here(& hell, people world-wide) tend to view things that if they don't state something forcefully definitive one way or the other that their opinion is in someways not as important....the truth is that seeing both sides to things enables you to analyse the situation(whatever it is) more clearly.
  11. With that attitude, it is obviously impossible to have a reasonable discussion on the subject with you....that being said....you state.... "Over that past few weeks he's held on to the ball way too long which has lead to sacks" How many exactly were due to Losman? Please enlighten us to the numbers(rough will do)....how many is a young/pressured QB allowed to cause? I think he caused 1 today didn't he?
  12. I don't see how one rollout a quarter(ish) could hurt JPs 'pocker development'.....if anything it would give the opposing D something else to think about rather than simply "collapse pocket....kill QB"...and this in turn might hopefully give him a mili-second more on his normal 'pocket passes'. Also.....why not call some play-action? If we are going to run 3-1 they might just bite on the fake?
  13. That's the problem though.....if JP was Pits QB instead of Big Ben, who can really say that he would not perform at a similar level....which as you said, was decent?
  14. Wasn't the Patriots method to sign up lots of small name FAs? I'm sure that was it.
  15. Well.....he did throw the game winning TD pass last week to Evans. And your expectations are not warranted. Have a good look at the success of players drafted (particularly QBs in the 1st) & you'll greatly lower your expections.
  16. This isn't a democratic thing. Just because you don't see how good/bad Nall is in practice & think "golly, we can't do much worse" does not mean that the coaches don't see how he is in practice. Nall is not even 2nd string. How do you think he has looks in practice if he can't even surplant Holcomb?
  17. Why is it that he has to be 'the best'? Why can't he just become very good? I'd be content with 'good' myself but it seems most here want HOF clalibre or nothing....in all possitions.
  18. I don't know.... What I do know is that just because some teams can do something....or have success doing something....it does not mean that all can do it or have success with it. You could just as easily say..... "Teams that have total garbage for an OL don't ever seem to be able to do anything consistant in either passing or running games regardless of who they put in.".....i.e. Raiders, Cardinals, Bills, Browns, etc
  19. Actually nothing makes him a moron.....he does it all of his own volition. Just read his posts..... BTW, to conclude that JP is....not is probably, or maybe, or looks like....but is never going to make it when there are so many variables involved is IMO moronic. Again I state that most JP supporters are simply saying that assessing him is very difficult due to the negative factors around him. Anyone who actually believes he is 'good' at this point is obviously deluded.
  20. Look on the bright side.....with all this crap that everyone(myself included) is whinging & whining about, we played a close game against one of the leagues best, in their house. Does that not mean anything to anybody? Last week we WIN & everyone complains. This week we play far better than anybody gave credit for & everyone complains. I don't care about all you guys.....I'm quite optimistic about the direction we are headed. There are things to fix....things that are broken badly(OL) but we still beat the Packers & we still took it right up to the Colts. You guys are just grumble-bums.
  21. Just when I was starting to think you were one-eyed on the subject you go & say that.
  22. Now...fairs fair.....the TEs & WRs have been the cause of a few false starts this season in the redzone.....& the TE & RBs have missed blocks.
  23. Of course it is.......throw more passes!
