  1. But certainly quick enough for the system.....they fit well. I thought your initial point was that we could go for a heavier guy if he was 'quick'.....i.e. don't just descriminate against the heavier guys because they are heavier. That obviously wasn't your point at all. What I see now is that you believe the guys that were specifically brought in because they fit the system......don't actually fit the system. If we had a Sapp or even a Harris, Triplett would probably shine. Who knows, Williams could develop into one. Williams profile numbers show similar quickness to Bunkleys profile numbers. McCargo may well be that guy......or our 1st pick this year.....or via FA.
  2. Very, very good point. One might even prefer 8mil to the good player worth 6mil over 3mil to an average player worth 2mil. Once a player is signed to a decent deal, you are either locked with them for years....or usually.....you have a large cap hit when you cut them.
  3. I was always tempted to get a matching set for my wife & I. Mine would be......FAR.Q Hers would be......FAR.Q2 I never got around to it though.....I couldn't be !@#$.
  4. I totally agree with the concept you put forward......but.....& you just knew there would be a but coming..... Warren Sapp 6'2" 300lbs Tommie Harris 6'3" 300lbs ....your examples are examples of small quick guys.
  5. ......& there was I thinking you were in the same building with him & overheard a conversation he was having in the hall or something. I find this reading comprehension stuff difficult to comprehend if I have to read it.
  6. For me, that is exactly the case. Until I hear that Marv & Co. are looking at a bigger DT I'm assuming they are simply out of consideration for us. Mind you, as far as I'm aware Scott is a solid/good player.....not a 'playmaker'. That's OK & all......but personally I'd like to see this D with a 'top' DT, ala Tommie Harris. Fingers crossed McCargopants will pan out.
  7. I've seen a lot of "this guy will not drop to #12" type statments recently & thought to myself....... I thought......"Myself, which draft prospects really will not drop to the #12 spot in the 2007 draft?" I really don't know. I'd say.... Brady Quinn Joe Thomas Calvin Johnson Gaines Adams ....but..... Who are the other 6 "can't drop out of the top 10" type players? (assuming I'm correct about these four.)
  8. Well yeah, but with Anderson gone it is a total DT roster replacement. Not one DT will remain from last season. How can you replace 5 players without spending(either money or picks)?
  9. That list is seniors only. Scouts Inc. top 32 He's not even on this list.....lots of DTs though. 3 in top 12 Alan Branch Glenn Dorsey Amobi Okoye & DeMarcus Tyler at 16
  10. Hey, I don't disagree at all.....it just means we have 5 DTs on the active roster rather than 4.....which the more I look at it, the more it makes sense. Since the Tampa 2 is a high rotation DT system....why not keep 5 on the roster for even more rotational benifits? Also it would mean that if the rookie(& McCargo) become busts, we would have an extra guy who can at least get the job done.
  11. I think we have to both count on McCargo and still have big needs at DT. McCargo......like it or not......was a 1st round pick. That means unless he retires(or similar), he will be on the active roster next year......therefore....since the Defensive scheme we use relies upon high rotation amongst the DTs......we will need to rely on McCargo improving. Obviously Anderson will be let go....that leaves Williams & ?????.....therefore we still(even with McCargo) have a big need at DT. Simply....to become a 'very good' defence we need McCargo to become better than average AND we need another DT who is better than average.
  12. I can't see any reason why they would have changed their minds.....though I'm not counting it out. Basically we were under-manned this season at DT. Triplett, Rookie(1st rounder), Rookie & Anderson....with Rookie(1st) getting injured in game 6. DJ & Marv are smart guys.....they had to have expected severe growing pains at the DT position(both this season & next). It looks to me(from early information) that there is a good amount of 'good' DT prospects in the draft this season. Since none of the FAs are "WOW!!! " I'd rather draft a guy who....though he may become a bust......may also become a super-star......over a FA who can simply get the job done.
  13. The Rams have only just adopted the cover 2 recently.....& they haven't had success in a while. The Colts D is(& has pretty much always been) crap......they live off that O. The Bears looked great when their QB was playing decent. ....and.....what about the Bucs? Didn't they win a Superbowl with a strong Cover 2 D & a lackluster O????? There's good argument for getting another 'play maker' for the Offence......saying that the Cover 2 D needs a great Offence to be successful is not one of them.
  14. Not as solid #2 guys....no.....but......it's sure hard to figure the actual numbers in comparison to my assumptions on the skill level of our WRs. Maybe JP is that good.
  15. Technically you would be correct....I guess.....but since JP had the 9th best completion percentage in the league this year I don't exactly know why you'd say this point. 11th best ypa as well. Maybe the WRs are alright.
  16. Serious question for you...... You act as if the general feeling on this board is predominantly that people think Schobel is better than Freeney......is this the case? If it is the case.......where in heavens name did you get that idea? I've looked through your posting history & pretty much from the start you came out firing as if people were down-putting Freeney(nobody ever mentioned him before you) or people were saying how 'great' Schobel is (and nobody ever said he was a 'great' DE). If anything, there has been an ongoing debate over whether he is 'good' or not. Did some of your Bills fans friends stupidly say "Schobel is the BEST." & you associated everyone else....i.e. all of us here....with the same views? What is the reason for your assumption that there is some form of argument on this topic? Some sort of contest....as you put it? Please......why the aggressive argument from nothing?
  17. How many DTs do you think we'll fit on the 53 man roster? Only Anderson will be replaced at this point. Tripplett & Williams are certainly back next season & I can't see us cutting a 1st round pick(McCargo) unless his injury was major. We will only get 1 DT this off-season. That is why it's sooooo important he be a stud player.
  18. Yep.....or at least a definition. What a moronic premise to the thread. A probowl calibre player who happens to have had a down year(by his standards) has a good playoff game so his peer(though generally not as good) who made the probowl must be crap. There really should be some sort of IQ test taken before given the ability to post on this message board. Mind you.....what sort of IQ must I have for continually looking at the posts from the people on my 'ignore' list?
  19. Errr....no. 1 DT in the 1st & 1 DT in the 5th. But essentially you are correct since the 5th rounder came on strong......however, since we use high rotation at DT, we need another good DT(Anderson is not gonna get it done). Along with the concept that McCargo may well be(not saying he will be) a bust & looking at the run D stats......we NEED another good DT.
  20. Doomed....you've doomed us all!!!
  21. Actually I don't......not really. I'm (relatively) new to message boards(this one being my entirety of experience). Could somebody give me a decent definition of a troll? I can guess basically what one is but.....????? BTW (I still love this thread......& crayonz is the Master! )
  22. Gee Kelly.....that depressess me. I believe we can.....& I hope we will sign at least 2 big name players. As of the start of FA, we will have only 1 player on BIG money.....TKO at $4.5mil(cap) There are only two others set to count over $2mil towards the cap.....Schobel & McGee both at $2.5mil. We just finished paying Fletcher $4mil & Clemments $7.226mil. I will be really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really disapointed if we do not sign at least 2 BIG contracts(that is just staying level with what we had this season. We have the second highest amount of cap money to spend.....JPL is signed till 2008.....Evens is signed till 2009 so I don't see their contracts re-worked till after 2007......Schobel is relatively cheap, as is Peters. Crowel is signed up.....the only other BIG player to consider realistically in the next two off-seasons to re-sign is WM & that's a discussion all by itself. We are in prime possition to make a SB run. Our good players are all either signed long term or are young & cheap & we have oodles of money under the cap. Truth be told I'm expecting a lot of action in the FA market this offseason.
  23. I wasn't meaning to suggest that at all.....I was mearly refuting the generalization of (quote)"So we can summise that the television contract pays for the players. Nothing out of pocket from old Ralphy boy." I totally agree the most of the time this will be so....but should not be used as a blanket rule. As I pointed out, sometimes this certainly will not be the case.....though Kelly's points about watering the money down by 'guaranteeing' it over multiple years is a factor I didn't think of.....though the player will still prefer signing bonus up front I'm sure. I wasn't arguing with your concepts.....just pointing out that things are more difficult for a smaller revenue franchise. Personally I'd like to think that Ralph has to be getting to the point where winning the SB should be more important than business modelling. I know I would be if I was in my 80s.
